âThere is something that I want to talk to you about,â said Su Ran very seriously.
Su Hanâs heart tightened when he heard that. He didnât like the sound of that much.
Su Han stiffened in his stance with his head lowered all the way. Right when Su Ran felt that her son was trying to refuse to talk to her with his action, she finally detected an almost unnoticeable nod.
âMmm,â said Su Han very, very softly.
Seeing that, Su Ran sighed to herself: She didnât know where to start either but this was something that they needed to address, one way or another.
âEm, Su Han, what I want to say is⊠is there anything in our lives that you dislike or are unhappy about?â After a little bit of hesitation, Su Ran decided to approach the subject in a more roundabout way.
Hearing Su Ranâs question, Su Han stopped his eating action.
âWhat do you mean?â
âLike, you donât have a father and your mother, ugh, and I never cared about you all that muchâŠâ
Even though she had only brought the subject up to lead into what she wanted to talk about but this was definitely something that Su Ran had always worried about.
Su Han had always acted like nothing was wrong but this was Su Han, the future big villain, that they were talking about!
Being able to hold everything in was a prerequisite of becoming a big villain!
Su Ran was very worried that Su Han would hold everything back and that would eventually become the trigger of him becoming a villain.
âIâm used to it already,â said Su Han dully after he thought about it long and hard.
A second later, as though something had just occurred to him, Su Han looked up abruptly. He instantly felt anxious when he spotted the thick sense of regret and pain on Su Ran.
âI mean, I was used to it in the past.â
âNow,â he paused for a little, then added, âThings are good how it is right now.â
âUm, I donât mean you are awful in the past,â Su Han went on to elaborate, his pace faster than before as he was eager to clarify himself. âI mean, in the past, ugh, it wasnât all your fault. What I am trying to say isâŠâ
âPffftâŠâ Seeing how Su Han was grappling on how to explain himself, Su Ran finally couldnât help but busted out laughing.
âYouâŠâ Su Han frowned and stared at Su Ran, his face burning a little.
âEm, sorry.â After she had apologized, Su Ran cleared her throat and went on, âYou donât need to explain yourself. I really havenât been a good mother in the past.â
Most importantly, itâd seem that⊠she hadnât change much.
Mainly because of her incapability. She couldnât help Su Han with his school work and she wasnât good at doing housework.
Luckily her son didnât care much about those!
âI am only asking you this to make sure that you were bottling up everything inside and unwilling to share.â
âThereâs no such thing. You are overthinking it.â A 12~13-year-old boy cared a lot about his ego. Heâd never admit to it even if that was true in the past.
But, he was very happy with their current situation.
This woman right now wasnât half bad.
Thought Su Han to himself.
âMmm, then have you ever consider about having a dad?â
She had looked it up online, boys seemed to look up to a fatherly figure by nature and theyâd doubtless follow and imitate their fathers. As far as this was concerned, that was for sure not a role that a mother could replace.
Su Ran seemed to have brought it up casually but, in reality, she was glancing over at Su Hanâs expression nervously.
Then, Su Ran saw it clearly. When Su Han heard the word âdadâ, he frowned a little and a hint of resentment seemed to have flashed past his eyes?
âYou never thought about having a father?â asked Su Ran.
âNo,â replied Su Han very definitely. Somewhat resentful of it, even.
Letting a man join in their family legitimately? And as his father at that?
That wasnât something that he wanted at all!
The only man that they needed in this family was him. He could move things around, change light bulbs, pick up deliveries, throw out takeout boxes. When he was more capable in the future, he could even pick up the responsibility of supporting this family. He did not need anyone else.
