âThis?â Su Ran lifted her hand reflexively and touched the pronounced scar on her forehead.
In the original novel, this scar was a âsouvenirâ that âSu Ranâ got when she was retired from the book.
It was also in original ownerâs memory as well.
âSu Ranâ was also drugged by then but was still somewhat conscious of what was going on. She was being dragged by a group of people. She tried as hard as she could to struggle free but finally failed. During the struggle, she was pushed into a coffee table by one of the men and thatâs how she got the scar.
The memory was, at most, just a blurry memory to the current Su Ran and it was not that meaningful.
Nevertheless, being asked by her son all of a sudden, she couldnât figure out what to tell him right away.
What Su Ran didnât know was that her struggle, in Su Hanâs eyes, had a completely different meaning.
Su Han pursed his lips and they formed almost into a straight line. His unhappiness was obvious.
âWas it because of that man again?â asked Su Han through gritted teeth. His fists, to both sides of him, were tightened as though he needed an outlet for the discontent that was inside of him.
Man? What man?
Su Ranâs hand that was busy with photo-editing paused. It took her a couple seconds to figure out who would Su Han possibly be referring to.
The male lead of the original novel? Song ZeYu?
âEmmm, more or less. But, not exactly,â said Su Ran casually after a quick thought.
According to the original novel, this was a consequence of the female supporting characterâs own action. That being said, the ultimate reason was her trying to fight over the male lead with the female lead.
So⌠one could say that it was because of the male lead?
Su Ran just assumed that Su Han was going through the curious phase in his life and suddenly wanted to learn more about his motherâs past so she casually answered his question.
What she didnât notice was that the moment that she had provided her with the answer, a strong anger suddenly appeared in Su Hanâs eyes.

He knew it! It was because of that man!
Su Han roared in his mind.
If one could kill with oneâs consciousness, then the head of the Luâs, who had no idea the type of crimes that had been added onto him, would have already died a thousand horrible deaths.
He should have beat the guy up first before he took off today! Thought Su Han to himself.
In fact, he was already thinking about how to revenge that old man.
All the way until the cellphone that was thrusted in front of his face interrupted his thought process.
âSon, what are you thinking about?â ask Su Ran as she looked at her sonâs expressionless face. She waved her cellphone in front of Su Han and said, âCome, check out my handywork. Looks great, right?â
âEh?â He looked over at the picture that Su Ran was showing him.
Su Han, âUghâŚâ
âIt didnât look any different than before,â said Su Han as he frowned.
âThat only meant that my photo-editing skill was great and that you couldnât tell that it had been edited.â
Su Ran pulled her phone back and looked again at the photo that she had edited, nodded, and happily saved it.
âI meant, it looked the same as before.â What was the different between the photo before and after it was edited? He couldnât tell at all.
âIâve only made some slight adjustments. What do you expect to see?â Su Ran felt that her photo-editing skill was being questioned.
âThen why did you botherâŚâ Su Han grumbled unjustly after Su Ran had glared at him.
âItâs the vanity of a woman. Well, this is too deep for you to understand, son. Aye.â Su Ran gave Su Han a deliberate sympathetic look then shook her head and sighed.
âVanity?â

âUh huh.â
âYou mean like those designer brand clothes and purses?â Su Han didnât care about those but he had heard girls talking about them in class before.
Was this woman equally materialistic?
Meh. Make sense. If she wasnât materialistic, how could she have been fooled by that man?
âI suppose those too, but why do youâŚ?â
But Su Ran was interrupted by Su Han before she was done talking.
âWhatâs so good about those?â asked Su Han in a very resentful tone.
âYou just want others to buy you those?â
Su Ran: What have I done now?
As Su Ran was dumbfounded, Su Han carried on, âIf thatâs what you like, I can buy them for you when I start making money. Lots of them!â
So, there was no need to count on someone else.
Well, we couldnât change the past. But no more going forward.
