She only saw a giant yellow creature that was as big as a Tyrannosaurus rex. The creature opened its mouth and a burst of cold air hit her face, revealing its sharp fangs.
In an instant, the âcommon senseâ she knew, shattered into pieces.
âMonster!â Shi Xia used all her strength, turned and ran as fast as she could towards the forest where everyone had disappeared into.
Screw common sense! Why was there a giant cat with wings? The cat seemed to be a carnivore too! Werenât cats supposed to eat cat food? Was this cat raised by dinosaurs?!
She finally understood why the group of people from before had run so fast because right now she wished she had two additional legs. She had never run so desperately before, even when she signed up for the 100-meter dash. Shi Xia was afraid that the giant cat behind her would eat her up if she was just a step slower.
Fortunately, Shi Xia was fast enough to catch up with the previous group of people. Now, more people were by her side, running along with her. Perhaps because of everyoneâs physical differences, the people running in the front were all strong and young men while the people running along with her were all women and children. Shi Xia cannot imagine what would happen to her if she ran too slow, so she ran like her life depended on it.
âAhâŚâ It seemed like a little girl on her right had suddenly tripped over something and fell to the ground.
The child didnât look old, she appeared to be five or six years old. She seemed to be trying to get up, but her efforts were futile as she fell back down. Her legs were covered in blood, which meant she was obviously injured.
âNiuâer!â A young boy stopped running and hesitantly looked back at the little girl. It seemed as if he wanted to go back and save her.
But it was too late, the smell of the blood had stimulated the monster from behind. It leaped in front of the little girl, landing two to three steps away from Shi Xia. The giant cat roared, letting out a burst of cold air as it revealed its sharp and chilly fangs.
The little girl was terrified as she silently looked up at the monster towering above her, tears dripped down her face like pouring rain.
Shi Xia was the closest to the girl, but it was still impossible to save the little girl even if she went over. Whoever went over will just be eaten along with the little girl, so there was nothing she could doâŚ
Bullshit!
How could she ignore this? Sh Xiaâs body already began moving by itself.
Seeing that the monster had already opened its big mouth and was ready to bite the little girl, Shi Xia rushed over and held the little girl in her embrace and kicked the giant catâs head. The force she used to kick the giant catâs head made her roll a few meters away in the opposite direction.
Perhaps the urgency of the situation had triggered Shi Xiaâs full potential. Even though she usually doesnât exercise, she was still able to run extremely fast while holding a child in her arms.
âQuickly run!â She shouted at the young boy in front of her while she ran the other direction with the little girl still on her arm. Shi Xia ran like her life was on the line.
The gigantic cat let out a loud wail after being kicked by her. It shook its head and roared, all the fur on its body was standing on ends. Instead of continuing to chase the people in the front, it turned around and started to chase after Shi Xia.
Fuck! This wasnât the same as I anticipated! Shouldnât the gigantic cat run in the direction with more people? Why did it suddenly target her?
Was it too late to apologize now?
Roar!
Shi Xia didnât dare to look back and she also didnât have the time to look back. The only thought in her mind was ârunâ. The sound of the monsterâs roar was getting closer and closer, and she could hear the sound of the giant cat flapping its wings. The trees surrounding them began to sway because of the wind created by the wings.
Fuck! She forgot that the gigantic cat could also fly! Does God not want to give humanity a path to survival?
In the next moment, God used its actions to answer her question.
Not a chance!
Shi Xiaâs heart chilled when she saw the vast cliff ahead of her.
Why did she run back here again?!
There was a cliff in front and a monster behind them. Sorry, but youâre dead meat!
The little girl seemed to be aware of the current situation too. She had originally grabbed onto the cloth in front of Shi Xiaâs chest, but now her grip on the clothes tightened. The two weights inside Shi Xiaâs clothes were in pain because of how hard the little girl was grabbing her clothes. Hey little girl, let go of my chest!
However, she had no time to care about her chest right now. The gigantic cat-like monster had already caught up, and the flapping of its wings created a mini typhoon. The wind from the typhoon made a small cut on Shi Xiaâs face, it was extremely painful. It roared loudly as if it already knew that there was nowhere for them to escape to. The gigantic cat walked towards them, one step at a time and opened its large and bloody looking mouth.
The gigantic cat let out a puff of breath, and the foul scent hit Shi Xia. She suddenly felt her head spinning in circles after smelling the foul scent. Fuck! This cat even has bad breath.
What should I do? What should I do? If she continued to stand here, even if she wasnât eaten, she would die from its bad breath. However, there was no place for them to run to. Will it work if I play dead? Even if she transformed into a âSaiyanâ, there was still no way for her to defeat this gigantic cat!
[T/N: Saiyans are a race of strong extraterrestrials (aliens) in the Dragon Ball series.]
Roar!
The gigantic cat was slowly approaching them, Shi Xia felt her body hurt just from looking at its sharp white fangs. It was obvious that the cat would eat them and Shi Xia knew that she should escape. But her legs were already shaking like fallen leaves in the wind. She felt her heart rapidly pounding as she looked at the catâs big mouth that was about to bite them. She wanted to cut off her cheap hands. Who told you to act like a hero? Now youâre definitely dead meat.
Such a big cat blocking there way, how would they run away?
Wait! Cat?
The broken wires in her mind suddenly connected and she remembered the packet of dried fish in her pocket. Something in her brain clicked. Although the difference between her brotherâs cat and the cat in front of her is different, they are both cat after all. It should work, right?
How about âŚâŚ trying?
She immediately put the little girl in her arms down and pulled out the packet from her bag before flinging it towards the giant cat. The packet fell to the ground in front of the giant cat with a thud and the dried fishes inside scattered on the ground.
The giant cat froze for a moment, a pair of eyes with vertical pupils stared at her before looking at the packet on the ground.
Sure enough, the cat slowly walked to the packet and took a sniff. After determining the contents werenât harmful, it took one piece of dried fish in its mouth and started chewing. Who knew what happened but the giant cat suddenly froze before eating the dried fish with gutso.
Although it was weird, but it really worked! The cat was only bigger in size but no different from ordinary cats. Otherwise, how could it possibly succumb to a small packet of dried fish âŚâŚ
âMeow~â
The giant catâs body moved and a bell chimed as it pounced on the dried fishes and ate all of them, not leaving a single piece behind. While eating, it didnât forget to meow happily, letting people know how satisfied it was.
Shi Xia: ââŚâŚâ
It really worked! But Mister giant cat Where is your dignity as a monster? You are completely turned as a house cat by me!
Sure enough, no cat can withstand the temptation of dried small fish, no matter how big or small they are.
Since Shi Xiaâs intention was fulfilled, she held the little girl in her arms again and slowly started to move away when the giant cat was still immersed in eating the dried fishes. She moved sideways before slowly passing the cat. Once she was out of the catâs vision, she took a deep breath and ran in full speed.
She didnât care where she was going, just looking for a place that could save her from the giant cat but and kept running without stopping her feet. She ran and ran until her leg were soft and she fell forward. Thinking of the child in her arms, she turned her body sideways and plunged her head into the mud.
After falling, she realized that she had no strength to turn her body over, let alone sit up or stand. She heard the bird chirping above her head and rustling of leaves that were swayed by the gentle wind. The sky was slowly turning white as strokes of red dissipated. She finally realised that it was already dawn. She had actually ran the whole night. No wonder it felt like ther limbs werenât her own. They hurts so damn much.
This is definitely the most bitter day in her twenty years of life.
âSister âŚâŚ sister âŚâŚâ
The figure in her arms wiggled, and a little face drilled out, her eyes misty, as if tears would fall in next moment. Worry and panic could still be seen in her small face.
âGood girl, donât cry!â Shi Xia wanted to sooth the girl by rubbing her head but found out that she couldnât lift her hand. She continued to lie on the ground like a corpse as she gasped for breath, âI âŚâŚ will âŚâŚ be fine after rest⌠donât go anywhere, okay?â
âMmm. Niu Niu will stay.â The girl named Niu Niu nodded obediently.
In the end the girl was still a child, seeing Shi Xia closing her eyes and not moving an inch, she couldnât help but be afraid. She heard the chirping of the birds and looked at the unconscious Shi Xia. Although she felt like crying, she held herself and didnât let the tears fall. Biting her lower lip, she hugged Shi Xiaâs neck and stayed still as Shi Xia instructed.
After lying down for almost half day, Shi Xia finally regained some strength. Pushing herself from the ground, she gathered enough strength to sit up. She felt carrots could be grown for how long she laid on the ground. The little girl was still hugging her neck, almost crushing her breasts.
My poor babies!
âSister âŚâŚâ the little girl blinked a pair of eyes that had swollen into walnuts and looked at her pitifully.
When Xia stroked her head, she took the time to check up the girl for any injuries. The girlâs right foot had dried blood on it, fortunately it was just a scratch. Now the bleeding has stopped.
OkayâŚthe girl is saved but now what? The girl only looks five or six years old. She would never be able to survive in the wilderness. Shi Xia sighed and asked the girl, âYour name is Niu Niu?â
The girl nodded.
âThen can you tell sister what place is this?â
The girl showed a confused look.
Shi Xia understood the girl was unable to answer her question so she changed the previous question and asked, âThe kid back there who was calling you, is he someone you are familiar with?â
Niu Niu was silent for a moment before she nodded and said, âBrother.â
âHe is your brother?â
The girl nodded again.
âDo you know how you can get to him?â Shi Xia asked as gently as she could, âWhere do you live? Do you remember the way back?â
Niu Niu nodded but halfway shook her head, âNo, I donât knowâŚâŚ brother said he would be there soon âŚâŚ and bring foods for me so that I wonât be hungry.â
What a messâŚShi Xia felt dizzy but still listened the little girlâs words. It looks like the little girl was just following her brother and met the giant cat.
âDo you know where your brother is going?â
Niu Niu shook her head, but suddenly thought of something and anxiously grabbed her clothes as she said, âEast âŚâŚ brother said he was going to East.â
East? He was going to east? But which direction is it?
Shi Xia looked up at the sun and discerned the direction, it just so happened that the direction she was running was east. It was impossible to go back to the place they left behind. She could only go forward and hope to meet Niu Niuâs brother. If he was really going east, then maybe they can still meet.
Shi Xia rested for a while, before continuing on the road with Niu Niu. She didnât bothered cleaning her face that was full of mud. This world was too unfamiliar for her to stay where danger is lurking at every corner. Now survival is most important rather than skin care.
Probably because of the dozens of previous delivery trips to different world, she was extraordinarily calm on the matter of her crossing here. Anyway, transmigrated or not, she was already used to it.
She didnât know if it was just her illusion but she felt that the system threw her into this world for not ordinary reason. There must have been some purpose that it was trying to fulfill by her.
