Ch14 - Shelter from the rain

Xie Yan didn’t show any reaction to Ji Qinghuai’s response. To him, who Ji Qinghuai liked had nothing to do with him. But Ji Qinghuai didn’t think the same way. Since Xie Yan asked him that question, he also wanted to ask him the same.
If the legend is true, whose name would you write?
The answer Ji Qinghuai expected was a resolute “No.”
Just as he was about to speak, the sound of thunder interrupted him. Ji Qinghuai raised his head and saw the layers of dark clouds and dim sky. A storm was coming.
Before he could complain, the rain started to hit his head, ruining his plans.
Xie Yan also didn’t expect it to rain suddenly. Summer was quickly approaching so they only wore thin short-sleeved shirts which were quickly drenched by the rain.
The two of them definitely couldn’t stay in the rain so Xie Yan said, “Find a place to take shelter first.”
Ji Qinghuai glanced around and pointed into the distance, “Over there.”
Xie Yan nodded and was about to go over when his wrist was suddenly grabbed. Xie Yan was startled and before he could react, he was pulled forward.
The rain was pouring heavily and droplets of water trickled down his glasses, blocking his sight. Fortunately, Ji Qinghuai was holding and guiding him so he didn’t have to distinguish the direction by himself. He just let Ji Qinghuai drag him into the pavilion. The pavilion was the only place around them they could take shelter in.
Although it was only a short distance between the pavilion and their original position, both of them were soaked to the bone by the time they arrived. Ji Qinghuai wiped his face and looked at the curtain of rain, feeling downcast.
He had planned to enjoy the lake’s scenery with Xie Yan to deepen their feelings but it was impossible now. Instead, both of them had been soaked with water. What was this situation?
Ji Qinghuai’s hand was still grasping Xie Yan’s wrist. Seeing that he still didn’t let go, Xie Yan couldn’t help but speak up, “I’m still here.”
“Huh?” Ji Qinghuai looked at Xie Yan in confusion. The first thing that caught his eye was the lens covered with water. “Your glasses are wet, let me wipe them.”
As he spoke, he reached out to take off Xie Yan’s glasses. Seeing this, Xie Yan hurriedly took a step back but forgot that Ji Qinghuai was still holding him. Caught off guard, Ji Qinghuai was dragged towards him.
Fortunately, Xie Yan was quick to react and immediately reached out to support Ji Qinghuai, preventing the two of them from colliding with each other.
The two of them were only one step away from each other, extremely close. Xie Yan’s delicate and flawless face was right in front of him, but there was still alienation in his eyes when he looked at him. The distance between the two was as far away as thousands of mountains and rivers.
Seeing Ji Qinghuai staring at him, Xie Yan asked directly, “Can you let me go?”
It was not until Ji Qinghuai came back to his senses that he realized that he was still holding onto Xie Yan. He quickly loosened his grip and took two steps back to keep some distance between the two.
“I’m sorry, Mr Xie.” Ji Qinghuai was embarrassed and explained, “It’s raining heavily so I was in a hurry. I didn’t mean to offend you, please forgive me.”
Xie Yan didn’t seem to care about this and his complexion was calm as usual. He turned sideways, took off his glasses and wiped the water off them before putting them on again.
Ji Qinghuai was a little curious. Since the first time he saw Xie Yan, he had been wearing glasses. Xie Yan was a demon. Things like myopia couldn’t affect them. They could only act as accessories but they were always placed on the bridge of his nose. How much did he like it?
Ji Qinghuai’s eyes were glued to Xie Yan but Xie Yan was not stingy and let him look generously.
Ji Qinghuai noticed that Xie Yan’s coat was soaked and his slightly long hair was also wet. From time to time, some water droplets would slide down his face. Xie Yan wiped the water on his face, patiently and calmly, much more refined compared to Ji Qinghuai’s rough movements. Although he was in the rain for a while, he didn’t look flustered at all. He was still the calm and elegant Xie Yan in his memory.
But now, he was worried about one thing.
Xie Yan’s clothes were wet and the rain wouldn’t stop for a while. What if he caught a cold after waiting for a long time?
Fortunately, God saw that he had been single for so many years and finally showed him some mercy. Half an hour later, the rain stopped.
Ji Qinghuai walked out of the pavilion and stepped into the puddle. It was not that he wanted to step on it. The ground around the pavilion was a little low so the rainwater had accumulated, forming a puddle.
Now, he was completely wet from head to toe. Ji Qinghuai looked back at Xie Yan, feeling a little helpless. He was about to ask Xie Yan if he needed help when Xie Yan looked at the stagnant water on the ground and stepped on it as if nothing happened.
Ji Qinghuai: “
”
He didn’t even give him a chance to perform

The two of them were all wet now and it was inappropriate to go out again. Afraid that Xie Yan would catch a cold, he offered, “Mr Xie, let me drive you back.”
He nodded, “Thank you.”
They came on foot and the car was parked near the restaurant, so they had to return the same way.
When Ji Qinghuai had arrived just now, he had leisurely enjoyed the scenery but now with his clothes and shoes completely wet, he felt extremely uncomfortable. No matter how beautiful the scenery was, he was in no mood to appreciate it.
After leaving the old town, the two of them drove straight to the city. Ji Qinghuai wanted to return home quickly so the car was much faster than before. At first, the journey was smooth but as they entered the city, Ji Qinghuai went crazy.
Today was Saturday so there were more cars in the city than usual. When they passed an intersection, the traffic jam finally dispersed but a red light stopped them again.
Ji Qinghuai was a little irritated. He turned his head to look at Xie Yan, only to find that he was sitting quietly on the passenger seat. There was no expression on his face and he didn’t seem to be in a hurry. It looked as if he had just come out for a walk. His slightly long hair was no longer as wet as before and it was almost dry by the time they got back.
Seeing him so calm, Ji Qinghuai gradually calmed down. At this time, he suddenly sneezed. Ji Qinghuai stepped on the accelerator and the car bolted out.
Screw the red light, I can’t wait!
Xie Yan glanced at Ji Qinghuai. A little willful and headstrong, just like the rumours.
All Ji Qinghuai was thinking about now was to send Xie Yan back to change his clothes as soon as possible. He sneezed again. What if he caught a cold?
So when he was once again impeded by another red light, he rushed in without hesitation.
Xie Yan: “
”
Xie Yan was originally suspicious of Ji Qinghuai’s appearance and he had always been on guard when they met. In addition, Ji Qinghuai was also well-known. If someone asked him what his impression of Ji Qinghuai was, it wasn’t anything good. But now, he had an even worse impression of him.
