Chapter 50 - Slap

“What’s wrong with you!”

His wife kept calling Ji Xia without permission the past few days and the man was so angry that his neck was red when he got home and asked them; “What’s wrong with you people?  Fu Hengzhi and Xia Xia are getting along well, who do you think you are to control people’s preferences? How can Xiaoyu be so forceful to others and as a mother, how can you do things like that!?”

“Why do you say it like that? I’m not doing it only for Xiaoyu, Ji Xia is not our daughter after all. If she really get the certificate with Fu Hengzhi in the future, she will be a member of the Fu family. Will she come and help our Ji family?” The woman remembered the last time Ji Xia got angry on the phone: “And do you know how arrogant she is now after being with Fu Hengzhi. She dared to lose her temper with me, you don’t know how unpleasant her words were at that time!”

“It’s not bad to say a few words to you.” The man threw his mobile phone in front of the woman: “Now the upstream material supplier has cut us off. I found out through the people I know that Fu arranged an expedited order to cut off our goods and now the order that is scheduled to be shipped in July can’t go out. Do you know how much the liquidated damages for breach of contract is, huh !?”

The woman choked on her words and was speechless. The man glared at his daughter who was bowing her down without saying anything: “And you, who do you think Fu Hengzhi is, a boyfriend you are just playing around with? I think you have gone crazy along with your mother!”

“Dad, why are you so angry!” Ji Yu was scolded and she finally couldn’t help it: “And since you find out that it must be Fu Hengzhi who is doing it, how much can liquidated damages be, if we pay it, the Fu family can’t look down on us!”

The man’s eyes looked at her as if he was looking at a lunatic: “Little aunt, is this a matter of liquidated damages? Now the most important thing is not liquidated damages but Fu Hengzhi is obviously unhappy and hinting at this, you pig brain!

She was even more angry with the scolding and stood up and stared at her father: “Then what do you want me to do?!”

“Tomorrow, me, you and your mother, let’s go and apologize to Xia Xia together and let’s make up for the phone call!” The man slammed the table: “Be polite tomorrow and don’t act like Xia Xia owes it otherwise don’t blame me for not giving you face in front of Fu Hengzhi!”

“Why should I apologize to her!?” Ji Yu’s eyes widened and she looked at her father in disbelief. “I asked my mother to give her a suggestion, I am not afraid of her grievances. She doesn’t know how to interpret and blow the whistle to Fu Hengzhi and you are speaking up for her!”

“Is this me speaking up for her? This is Fu Hengzhi helping her out. Now you are envious, why didn’t you think about it when you went abroad  chasing after the painter?” The man almost yelled at the end, “To put it bluntly, now our whole family is asking Xia Xia  and coaxing her to be happy before Fu Hengzhi can continue to help us otherwise you still want to drive a good car, live in a good house, there’s no way!”

“Dad, whose father are you now? Ah!” Ji Yu’s face turned red and she almost screamed: “Just because Ji Xia has become valuable to Fu Hengzhi, she has become your own daughter, right? Is your daughter me or her? Or money!?”

“You bastard!”

The man was really angry, he raised his arm and slapped Ji Yu directly and threw her back on the sofa.

The woman was stunned when she saw this but she still subconsciously used her body to protect her daughter: “What are you doing! Why are you beating Xiaoyu, it’s all my fault, it’s all my fault, I’ll apologize tomorrow, I can kneel down for her, okay!?”

This was the first time that Ji Yu was beaten in her life. Compared with the pain, her face felt more like it was on fire, burning the nerves and senses under her skin. Tears came down from her eyes and she couldn’t say a word while covering her face so she stared at her father with red eyes.

The man also glared at her: “You have to go tomorrow. If you don’t go, you won’t be my daughter anymore!”

The next day, Ji Yu followed her parents to Fu hengzhi’s house. Ji Yu’s makeup couldn’t hide the clear slap print under her makeup which made Ji Xia startled.

“What are you doing here, aunt and uncle?” The little White Rabbit had no idea that the old fox had already imposed sanctions on them in a place where she couldn’t see and now what was in front of her eyes was only the final result. She wanted to ask Ji Yu what happened to her face but she was afraid that the question would hurt her self-esteem even more so she ignored it.

Fu Hengzhi stood behind Ji Xia and put his hands on her shoulder naturally and said gently, “Since my uncle and aunt made a special trip, they should be looking for us for something.”

The tone of his voice was gentle but his eyes were like the icy blade that accurately swept towards Ji Yu who was hiding behind her parents.

“Xia Xia, we want to apologize to you. The last call was because I didn’t express myself well and maybe Xia Xia misunderstood.” A stiff smile appeared on the woman’s face and the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes were crowded together and Ji Xia couldn’t find the arrogant look she had when she looked at Ji Xia before.

“It turned out to be for that matter.” Fu Hengzhi’s tone was light and if he hadn’t been pressuring the factory until last night, the Ji family and his wife would have felt as if he had completely forgotten about this matter.

He let go of Ji Xia’s shoulders, took her hand and lowered his head and smiled softly at her: “Xia Xia, I want to drink the fruit tea you made and it just happens that your uncle and aunt are here today so let them have a taste too, okay?”

After Ji Xia left, Fu Hengzhi looked at the Ji family and the last trace of warmth on his face finally dissipated and the sense of oppression was so overwhelming over the huge entrance that Ji Yu could not even dare to raise her head to look directly at him.
