It was only thereafter a short walk before the safe point came to view.
“Ah, Look at that Sir Alvin!”
I give a relieved smile to Kokoru as she points it out.
“Good. Looks like it got it right”
Among adventures, maps around areas this deep are up for trade.
Adventurers who have dived this deep transcribe the information on a map and sold on the market.
Information is important. Every adventurer understands that.
Since getting lost in a dungeon means death, the demand for maps is high. There are even parties that specialize in mapping, as that alone is enough to make a living out of.
It’s just that the maps in circulation are not always correct.
There could be mistakes in copying or shoddy ones that depict places they’ve never been to are not uncommon.
That’s why adventurers are usually relieved when they reach the safe points.
When we were about to head there and rest, I heard a distant and faint noise.
“Ha~ I’m hungry. With this we can finally–“
“Sorry, I need you to come with!”
“Eh? What is it?”
I start to run and Kokoru follows suit.
The sound grows louder and louder.
The sound of monsters and what seems like an explosion.
There’s no mistake, it’s the sound of battle.
If it was just the sound of battle then there wouldn’t be any problems but I feel like it’s not normal.
I rushed towards the sounds while bearing that hunch.
And then there it was.
A narrow road with a dead end was ahead.
There, numerous emerald golems had gathered.
The golems look like they are pushing forward to the dead end of the narrow path.
Occasionally from beyond there, blocked by the numerous monsters, flew magical flames scorching the countless golems one by one.
At the dead end, there should be adventurers. But… they might be small in number from the looks of things.
At the very least, I don’t think they can handle the huge amount of emerald golems.
I draw my sword.
“Buff me Kokoru!”
“O-on it!”
As soon as I run out, Kokoru smoothly starts a chant.
It’s fast, accurate, and easy to recognize. Exemplary spell casting.
By the time I close in to stab into the golem’s core from his back shoulder, the Phys. Penetration buff has already been cast.
Along with the accompanying particle effects, one of the emerald golems dissipate.
Several of the golems turn their attention towards me. With that, I shout out.
“OOiiii! Are you still alive over there!? We’ll somehow take care of it so hang tight!!”
“——?—–“
I hear a voice from the end of the pathway, but I couldn’t make out the words over the sound of the roaring magical explosions and the mass of golems’ heavy thuds.
But I’m glad that they seem to be holding on. I parry the golem’s fist that came from the left. Continuing on that trend, I stab the core of the golem on the right to defeat it.
Passing under the particle effects, I slash the legs of the golem ahead of me, leaping upwards to use its back as a foothold after it has fallen after a certain amount of damage. The neck of the golem that was trying to pass through the corner of the aisle, preventing the assault on Kokoru at the rear guard by causing it to be knocked back.
It might have been thanks to the buff but I was glad I’m in somewhat of a good shape.
Somehow, the magic released from the narrow pathway suddenly increased as well, causing the number of golems to visible decrease.
And finally, the last one dissipated.
At the center of the pathway, where the Emerald Ore and the coins were scattered, I sheathe my sword then first look back on my treasured party member.
“Good work. We managed. Your buffs grant more than I expected.”
“Ah, ermm that’s…. ahaha”
Removing my sights from Kokoru, who puzzlingly smiled in embarrassment, I turned to the adventurer girl who was ahead.
Black Robes and a staff. Looking at her attire, she looks to be a mage.
“Are you hurt? Alone huh… Well, I’m just glad you’re alive.”
The magician girl who heard it——Had an embarrassed look and replied somewhat troubled.
“Ah. Uh… I’ll apologize to you for now. Sorry.”
