The quiet light of the moon fell on the swaying water, strands of silver on the undulating waves, and the stars hanging high in the sky reflected on the surface in a swarm of bright dots.
Qiao Dai lay on her back in the pool and her mood gradually relaxed.
This was the rooftop pool of one of the Cheng Groupās hotels. It was located on the top of a sixty-five-story building and overlooked the bustling night view of the entire surrounding business district.
The scenery was beautiful.
Cheng Su and Qiao Dai left the dormitory and came straight here. The buildings of the city were full of colorful neon lights but from the height they were standing on, the whole world seemed to be shrouded in a quiet atmosphere as if this was a special magical face from above the sky, dreamy and unreal.
āAre you feeling better?ā
Cheng Suās voice came from the shore. Qiao Dai poked her head out of the water and noticed the man had walked to the edge of the pool. She swiftly swam to the side and stopped not far from him before nodding.
āYes!ā
Qiao Daiās round eyes were bright under the moonlight. They were stained with pool water and looked particularly wet, drops still stuck on her long and curled eyelashes. Her delicate lips were pink and seemed to shine, and her whole petite person was beautiful.
She seemed to be really happy. She floated on the water, slightly raised her head, and looked at the shore. Her mouth rose and she kept playing with the water between her fingers.
She was in a cheerful mood and Cheng Su squatted down by the pool. Seeing Qiao Daiās appearance, a subtle feeling spread in his heart, one he wasnāt sure he knew, and he did not speak for a long time.
After a while, he squinted his eyes and said: āBut I seem to be in a bad mood.ā
After speaking, he looked straight at Qiao Dai. His eyebrows rose and he watched the girlās reaction, wanting to see what she would do when she heard his words.
Sure enough, Qiao Daiās expression changed. She seemed to be surprised and she opened her eyes, full of doubts.
āAre you angry?ā
Qiao Dai asked with some hesitation and a hint of caution in her voice. Her tone was much quieter, barely audible to human ears but to Cheng Su, it felt as if his heart had just been scratched.
One second, two seconds, maybe even longer⦠but in a flash, Cheng Su felt as if all of his senses had heightened and all pointed to one personā
Qiao Dai.
He could only see her, he could only hear her, he could only smell her. Only her.
At this moment, Qiao Dai leaned out of the water, and drops splashed on Cheng Suās face, breaking him out of his trance. When he opened his eyes, Qiao Daiās face was closer than he had been a few seconds earlier. She had a sweet smile on the corners of her lips and her wet gaze was on him as if she wanted to say something.
Almost instinctively, Cheng Su leaned down and kissed Qiao Daiās lips.
He held Qiao Daiās head with one hand and pulled her towards him. He was acting like an obsessed human being who had finally captured the mermaid he had dreamed all of his life of; he desperately wanted to take possession of her, such a beautiful creature who originally belonged to the sea.
This maddening possessiveness eventually wanted to become a fierce and persistent kiss but he couldnāt help but worry about hurting Qiao Dai. The kiss was light, much different from the turbulent emotions that usually engulfed his heart. The kiss was restrained and the feelings that arose made Cheng Su wonder whether he was the prey of the hunter.
Men who claimed to be hunters always became preys of the mermaidās kiss.
Cheng Su gently bit Qiao Daiās soft lips, ending this uncontrollable touch.
And in a burst of splashing water, Cheng Su watched Qiao Dai swim a dozen of meters away. Her wide eyes were looking at him with horror, apparently startled by Cheng Suās actions.
Cheng Suās throat was a little dry. He looked at the shocked Qiao Dai and was about to speak when the girl cried out, both aggrieved and scared: āDidnāt you say you wouldnāt eat me?ā
Qiao Daiās mind was in chaos. She wanted to roll in the water to calm herself, trying to find an explanation for Cheng Suās actions just now.
He bit her! He bit her!
This was over, Cheng Su really wanted to eat her.
Thinking of this, Qiao Daiās cheeks warmed and her breathing fastened. She hid under the water and refused to get close to Cheng Su again; she had been deceived and bitten by the villain.
āWhy would I eat you?ā
Cheng Suās voice sounded a little irritable. He stood up and looked at Qiao Dai in the pool. He couldnāt help but snort when he saw her and his voice became a little softer, afraid he would scare her even more.
He had forgotten how scared Qiao Dai was about his identity as a killer whale. After a few seconds to gather his thoughts, he said: āI donāt know what picture of me you have, but I have never hunted in the ocean.ā
Qiao Dai breathed a sigh of relief when she heard him but asked suspiciously: āReally? Really?ā
After all, in Qiao Daiās heart, killer whales were the overlords in the ocean and hunting was their instinct. Even if Cheng Su said he had never hunted, it seemed a little weird.
āReally.ā
Cheng Su nodded and continued nonchalantly: āI am not a purebred marine animal. I have never lived in the ocean, how could I have even hunted there?ā
Hearing this, Qiao Dai couldnāt help but blink in confusion. But she didnāt want to keep asking because this was about Cheng Suās privacy. She shouldnāt ask, if Cheng Su wanted to tell her, he would.
