Konjiki no Wordmaster Chapter 71: The Little Girlâs Invitation
(Thereâs plenty that I want to retort, but why are the little girls of this world so strongâŠ?)
Rarashik, who he had scanned a while ago, had also crossed level 100. And the little girl in front of him had god-class strength. Whatâs moreâŠ
(And her having no attribute means she uses a unique magic like meâŠ)
She was the first unique magic user he had ever met, apart from himself. He had no idea just how powerful ăPhantasm Magică was, but according to Arnold, every unique magic was extremely powerful. Her magic probably held something that allowed her to overwhelm her opponents.
(And that Silva is⊠a ăSpirit of Darknessă?)
Seeing the words on his list of titles made Hiiro hold his breath. He was able to take on the parasitizing cactusâs poison without batting an eye, so Hiiro knew he was no ordinary person. But according to his title, he was one of the ăSpiritsă.
I never thought he would be a Spirit. Thatâs actually more surprising than the unique magic. His appearance is that of your average, everyday old man, but he wasnât an ăEvilaă, or a ăHumasă. He was a ăPheomă.
(A user of unique magic, a ăEvilaă and ăGabranthă cross, and a ăPheomă. What the hell is up with this mansionâŠ)
Silva did say that this was the dwelling of eccentric people, but it seems he wasnât exaggerating. Whatâs more, Hiiro himself was an otherworlder with unique magic; a person fitting of the place. The mansion was full to the brim of surprises.
But looking at the twoâs ăStatusă was a big help. Though he was a little shocked, having information would make his life easier. If they were to ever have to fight, he would be able to come up with countermeasures more easily.
Of course, he would lose if he attacked head-on, but there were plenty of approaches he could take with the information he gained. As he was thinking along those lines, Liliyn speak.
âWell, there is some sense in what youâre saying.â (Liliyn)
âThatâs correct. Hiiro-sama is, to put it briefly, someone who is very similar to us.â (Silva)
âFumu.â (Liliyn)
Lilyn turned her eyes to Hiiro once more, and began observing him. And after watching him for a while, she nodded lightly, and broke out in a smile.
When was Hiiro questioned her actions mentally, Liliyn suddenly thrust her finger at me, and spoke words he hadnât expected.
âOkay, brat. Become mine.â (Liliyn)
The sudden turn of events put even Hiiro in shock. Silva shrugged his shoulders, and sighed.
âWhat are you saying? Of course, I wonât. I refuse.â (Hiiro)
âI refuse your refusal!â (Liliyn)
â⊠What?â (Hiiro)
She said it proudly, while sticking out her chest.
(This brat, what is she trying to do? Did she hit her head somewhere?)
âIâm perfectly sane, you fool.â (Liliyn)
ââŠHm? AhâŠâ (Hiiro)
It seems that he had unintentionally spoken the words from his heart. Because of the sudden invitation, his mind was in a bit of disorder.
âAccording to Silva, you are on a journey. Put an end to that, and come serve me.â (Liliyn)
âHell no, brat.â (Hiiro)
âWhat do you mean by brat! Even though I look like this, Iâve lived several hundred years, boy!â (Liliyn)
As Hiiro had guessed, her age far exceeded her appearance. Even so, as with Rarashik, having a little girl look down on him really pissed him off.
âThen granny.â (Hiiro)
âSay another word, and youâll be seeing a nightmare youâll never wake up from.â (Liliyn)
She began letting out a serious amount of killing intent. It seems that it would be difficult for an ordinary person to even stand in the face of it. Hiiro felt sweat gradually gathering on his back.
(So Granny is taboo. Then as with the Chibi Usagi, I probably shouldnât use the word Little Girl.)
She didnât seem to know the meaning of âLoliâ, so Akaloli seemed to work just fine.
â⊠Anyways, if youâre recruiting, go ask elsewhere. I donât want to serve anyone.â (Hiiro)
âAnd thatâs why youâre on a journey?â (Liliyn)
âRight. I plan on seeing the world. I wonât let anyone get in my way.â (Hiiro)
Neither side would back down. Their eyes met, and sparks flew. Finally, Liliyn smiled once more.
âKukuku, you said that before me without showing a sign of fear. Youâve truly piqued my interest.â (Liliyn)
It appears that instead of getting hated, Hiiro had merely increased her interest in him.
âAs I thought, you should become mine, Hiiro Okamura.â (Liliyn)
âAnd am I not rejecting your offer here?â (Hiiro)
Liliyn puckers her lips, and makes an unpleasant expression.
âHmph, so where do you plan on heading from here?â (Liliyn)
âIs that related to you in any way?â (Hiiro)
âIt appears that he was searching for a town.â (Silva)
Hiiro turned his glare to Silva. Hiiro clicked his tongue as the pervert mouthed unnecessary things. Lililyn thinks for a bit, and widens her smile once more.
âA town⊠did you not know? There are no towns here.â (Liliyn)
âI know. Thereâs one far, far away, right?â (Hiiro)
âNo, by here, I mean⊠Youâre anăEvilaă, yet you donât know? Kukuku, youâre stranger of an existence than I first thought.â (Liliyn)
She laughs loudly, and shivers run down Hiiroâs back.
âWhat are you trying to say?â (Hiiro)
Asking that probably wasnât the best idea.
âThereâs only a single town that can be called as such in the entire demon world. Thereâs no way you wouldnât know⊠if you were an ăEvilaă. No, even if you were just someone who lived in this continent.â (Lilyn)
She takes on a triumphant expression, as she looks down on Hiiro. But Hiiro being as he was, did not display any expression on his face. Inside his head, he was a bit startled.
(Only one town? Right, Silva called this not a town, but a settlement.)
Far, far away, there was not a town, but a settlement. Silva said as such. Even so, why is there but a single town? Hiiroâs curiosity was alight.
âHmm, it seems you really didnât know. I see⊠Kukuku.â (Liliyn)
Liliyn nods her head over and over. She constantly gazes in Hiiroâs direction.
âIt seems youâre curious, so let me teach you.â (Liliyn)
Her superiority complex was quite clear in her words. But since Hiiro had a desire to obtain the information, he held himself back.
As he stayed silent, Liliyn arbitrarily continued the conversation.
âListen here. The Demon World has many settlements, but all of them have low populations. The amount ofăEvilaă races is high, but the actual numbers within races is scarce. They donât have any large scale settlements that can be called something like a town. Do you know why? In general, the ăEvilaă stick within their own races, and they have a high level of pride. Though a classification has been set up for the ăEvilaă race, few actually care about it. A small number of a single race is unable to assert itself as a town.â (Liliyn)
Inevitably, instead of being called towns, there were only small communities formed by the members of a single race.
âEven the most numerous ăImp Raceă has numbers less than one hundred. Of course, with a hundred, they could build a village, but the ăImpsă donât have such motivations. No, none of the other races have any such motivations either. They just live by gathering together. Thatâs the ăEvilaă way of life.â (Liliyn)
Hiiro didnât know the ăEvilaă had such a trait. Though there are plenty of races, interracial populations are low, so they canât build anything like a city. If the races were to gather, and work together, it would be a different story, but most of them donât interact with each other.
âBut there is a single exception. That is the one I told you about, the single town. No, the capital.â (Liliyn)
â⊠ăDemon Capital, Xaosă.â (Hiiro)
âOh, so you already knew.â (Lilyn)
What came to mind was ăDemon Capital, Xaosă. It seems that was a place separate from the rest of the continent.
âRight, only the Demon Capital is different. Long ago, the first one to call themself the Demon King created it. In there, various races of ăEvilaă make their homes.â (Liliyn)
âThe Demon King gathered them to protect the capital?â (Hiiro)
âI see youâre quick on the uptake. But thatâs not all. It seems that the Demon King delighted in associating with strong individuals.â (Liliyn)
âBy the way, by associating, she means XXXXXXX. Nofofofofo.â (Silva)
(TL: That is a censor bar.)
Hiiro and Liliynâs faces get dyed a light shade of red. They glare at the pervert with their eyes half closed. Itâs not that the context was hard to understand, but Silva didnât really have to put it in words. It was irritating.
âAhem. Anyways, thatâs how it is. The Demon King traversed the Demon World, and invited all the strong individuals they could find.â (Liliyn)
âOy, wonât most people reject an offer like that.â (Hiiro)
âYes, but most knew who they were dealing with.â (Liliyn)
ââŠ?â (Hiiro)
âThe Demon King possessed an enormous amount of power, she was quite a beauty.â (Liliyn)
âBeauty? Was the Demon King not a man?â (Hiiro)
âNope, sheâs female.â (Liliyn)
ââŠâ (Hiiro)
âHer appearance was flowing with elegance, and regardless of the gender of whoever she was dealing with, she was able to steal their hearts. And she was also strong, with an overwhelming amount of charisma. There were few, if any, men who could refuse a request from her.â (Liliyn)
