I wasnât sure about Serulis. I was a little worried.
âSerulis. I mean it, be careful.â
âI know!â
And with that, Shia a Serulis left the mansion.
After seeing them off, Luchila said,
âIâm worried too.â
âCluck.â
âYes. But I think Shia will take care of her.â
Even Gerberga seemed unconvinced.
I petted him as he cooed softly on my lap.
He was especially fluffy in the space between his wings.
âCluck-cluck.â
He clucked comfortably.
And then we left the drawing room.
âAlright, Iâm going to go out and by some food for today.â
âI can go for you.â
âReally? Hmm, alright. Thank you.â
âDonât mention it!â
âJust get anything you like. I donât mind what it is, but get a lot of it.â
I said and handed him some money.
âLeave it to me!â
Luchila said as he ran out.
âCluck-cluck.â
Gerberga said as he saw Luchila leave. There was still a possibility that Gerberga would be attacked, and so I tried to keep him close by as much as possible.
âLord Gerberga. Weâre off to the kitchen.â
âCluck!â
Gerberga looked quite pleased with this declaration.
âCluck-cluck-cluck-cluck.â
He clucked quietly and occasionally flapped his wings.
Milka and Grulf were in the kitchen.
âAh, Mister Locke. What is it?â
âGrrr.â
Milka had changed her clothes now.
She wasnât wearing clothes that were fit for an aristocrat daughter, but clothes that would be easy to work in.
But she still looked very pretty.
Her hair was nicely brushed and there was no dirt on her face.
She had always been pretty, and so she looked nice by merely being clean.
âI was thinking about making a pantry to preserve food in.â
âI see! Is there anything I can do to help?â
âNo, Iâm fine. I see that you changed.â
âYes. It would be a waste to ruin those clothes!â
âThis suits you nicely as well.â
âHehehe. Thank you.â
Milka said bashfully.
These clothes were nothing like the rags she used to wear.
It was made of high-quality material.
âDid Serulis give it to you?â
âShe did. Sister Serulis has given me a lot of clothes.â
âSheâs very generous.â
I would have to thank her later.
âI canât be more grateful to her!â
Milka said as she cleaned.
âYou didnât have to start cleaning today.â
âBut the kitchen should be clean at least. You might get sick!â
âI see. Thank you.â
So thatâs why she changed.
As for Grulf, he was sniffing around the kitchen.
âIâm sure you know Grulf, but donât go around marking your territory, alright?â
âGroof!â
Grulf froze.
Not even a little? Thatâs what he seemed to be thinking.
I could not let my guard down for a moment.
âListen here, Grulf. This business of marking your territoryâŠâ
âGroof.â
âYou must never do it here or in the royal palace.â
âGroof.â
âAnd not at Goranâs house either. Actually, donât do it indoors at all.â
âGroof!!â
What, I canât? He seemed to cry. But I was glad I was able to make it clear before it happened.
And then I tried to explain why it was this way.
Grulf appeared to be listening, so I had hopes that he understood.
âYou must go to the toilet.â
âGrrr.â
âAnd if you have to mark your territory somewhere, you can do it when I take you on walks.â
âGroof!â
âBut then again, it will cause trouble if itâs within the royal capital⊠You can do it when we take walks outside of the city then.â
âGroof!â
Grulf was a puppy, but the size of a small horse.
But Grulf was smart, so I was sure that I would be able to take him on walks here without causing trouble.
As we talked, Gerberga landed on Grulfâs back.
It seemed to be one of his favorite spots.
âWell, as for the pantry, I would like to finish before Luchila comes home.â
âWhat about this?â
Milka pointed to a large shelf that was in the kitchen.
âThat is a normal shelf. So itâs the same as leaving the food outside.â
âWell, how about this?â
Milka pointed to the floor. There was a storage space underneath.
âIt does seem dark and cool.â
âRight?â
Milka said smugly. She had cleaned the place, so she knew where everything was.
âWeâll use both then.â
And so I cast a Preservation spell on both.
After that, I also cast an Expansion spell on them.
This made them into what was a less portable version of my bag.
âWhat kind of magic is that?â
âQuite simpleâŠâ
And I explained it to her.
âThatâs amazing, Mister Locke.â
âThis is a secret, but I am actually a Sorcerer.â
âIs that soâŠâ
And then I looked around the room.
I wanted to know if there were any hidden passages or rooms.
Milka, Gerberga and Grulf followed me.
Unfortunately, we did not find any new secrets here.
And so I continued to walk around the mansion and cast spells.
