It was supposed to be just me, Ranelle, and Nagisa having tea, but somehow we found ourselves in a noisy party with Alana, Linnecarlo, and others joining us.
āAlana, what are you doing drinking in the middle of the day?ā
āItās good. Itās better than bitter tea.ā
āYouāre a real prude, arenāt you? Iād be happy to share my special drink with you.ā
āI donāt want to drink that disgusting stuff.ā
Linnecarloās special drink has an unearthly color and smell, as Alana said, and Iād rather not have it if I can help it.
āLinnecarlo, Nanami wants a drink!ā
āItās a little early for Nanami. This is a drink for adults.ā
I donāt think adults would want to drink it eitherā¦ā¦.
āSo, what is this meeting about?ā
Nagisa said numbly to the uncertain situation.
āItās Ranelleās welcome party, right?ā
āI see. Nanami thought it was someoneās birthday party.ā
āNo, itās an afternoon tea party.ā
Donāt all make random statements. Well, I thought Linnecarlo was the closest, but affirming it would be another hassle, so I passed.
Ranelle stares at me with a sad look on her face.
āWhatās the matter, Ranelle? Arenāt you having fun?ā
āNoā¦ā¦I know. Thatās what happens when it comes to tea on Fugaku in the first place. Itās my fault for getting the timing wrong.ā
Ranelle said as if she was convinced of something. I guess she didnāt like the fact that there were so many of us after all?
āOh, so you meanā¦ā¦itās all Yutaās fault, huh?ā
Nagisa seemed to have noticed something and said so to me.
āWhat the hell? Whatās wrong with me?ā
āAll of it! You dullard!ā
I donāt know what sheās accusing me of, but Nagisa doesnāt get mad at me for no reason. Maybe Iāve offended Ranelle, I donāt know.
āIām sorry, Ranelleā¦ā¦.ā
āNo, itās fine. But, Yuta-sanā¦ā¦will you have tea with me next time?ā
It seems that she didnāt like the noise after all.
āOh, youāre doing it. Just in time for us to have a strategy meeting.ā
Jean said and sat down at an empty seat and started handing out papers.
āJean, I thought we were done with business. Itās a private tea party now.ā
āDonāt be so hard on me. Iāve got too much to do and not enough time.ā
Jean seems to be busy these days. He is working on something at a great pace, as if his merchantās intuition is telling him itās time to make money.
āNanami. Go get Emina and the others, too.ā
It looks like weāre going to have to call in some members who arenāt here and decide something in earnest.
āWeāre going to use the battle for the fortress of the Raja Empire as a practical exercise for the trainees!ā
Jeanās explanation was met with surprise from the instructors who were actually teaching the trainees.
āYes. It would be easy for us to destroy the fortress ourselves, but itās better to use it to strengthen the trainees. Thereās a lot to be gained from actual combat, and it would be a waste not to do it.ā
āThe trainees have become quite strong, so I think theyāll be fineā¦ā¦.ā
āOf course, weāll support them. If something unforeseen happens, weāll be there to solve it.ā
āAlana and the others, as well as Kiyone, agreed.ā
āWhat about you, Ranelle? Are you sure you donāt want your own riders to do something like that?ā
I asked, to which Ranelle replied, sipping her tea slowly.
āI donāt have a problem with it, as long as the Iron Knights support them.ā
I wonder how much she trusts usā¦ā¦.
Besides capturing the fortress, we also need to prepare for mining. Weāll need to secure personnel and procure equipment, and the federal government will have to make preparations for that, but I wonder if theyāll be okay.
āWeāve already made arrangements in that area. It should be ready in about three days.ā
Thatās Ranelle. It seems that she is already making preparations.
Then we talked about specific support plans and responsibilities. Everyone forgot that it was already a tea party and started discussing this and that.
