āJean, whatās going on?ā
When I got to the bridge, I saw that all the members were gathered there.
āWe have to decide on something important.ā
āYeah, this is going to be our new home, and we need a room of our own in the house, right?ā
āOh, room selection, but there are about 50 rooms in this ride carrier, so why donāt you just pick the one you want?ā
āYou idiot! There are a lot of rooms, but not that many good ones!ā
Indeed, there are only three rooms that are clean, have a good view, and are spacious: the room that is supposed to be the captainās office and two luxurious rooms for VIPs. The current number of Iron Knights is ten ā it would be inevitable that they would be fighting for the rooms under normal circumstances.
āLetās play the lottery like before.ā
āHmm, I hope so, because this time Iām not going to lose.ā
āWhatās a lottery?ā
Linnecarlo, who was participating for the first time, asked.
āItās a fair game on Earth. Weāll pick the rooms in the order they appear in the draw.ā
āHmm, just draw first. Sounds easy enough.ā
I donāt think itās easy or difficult but Linnecarlo is determined to win.
I drew lines on a piece of paper and drew the squares of theĀ Amida lottery,Ā folded the paper in half to hide the goal part, and each of us took turns choosing a line and adding a line to the square.
āOkay, everyoneās picked.ā
āItās a matter of routine, you know, so itās not hard to guess whoās going to get the first pick.ā
Linnecarlo reacts to Alunaās casual words.
āOh, then Iām the only one who lives with integrity, firmness, and humility in my heart.ā
āOh, my God! Why! Why canāt I be the best?ā
Jean lets out a shrill cry.
āThere must be some mistake, Iām the last personā¦ā¦.ā
āYou may have your reasons, but this is the result! Letās just accept it and pick a room.ā
The members who had bad results started to complain, so I forced the conversation before it became too much trouble.
āLorgo, which room do you want?ā
āOh, I donāt careā¦ā¦.ā
āHow about this one? Itās got a lot of sunshine.ā
Jean recommended to Lorgo a small, ordinary room with only a little sunlight.
āYouāre a bad guy, Jean. Lorgo, donāt listen to Jean, because you drew the best and you can choose the best room.ā
āI donāt know what the best room isā¦ā¦.ā
āOkay, why donāt you just take the captainās quarters?ā
āIf Yuta says so, Iāll go to theā¦ā¦room.ā
āTsk, that was unnecessaryā¦ā¦ā
Jean is frustrated, but even if Lorgo doesnāt choose that room, I donāt think thereās a single millimeter of chance for Jean.
āFarma, what are you going to pick?ā
āHmm, Iāll take the big room on the far right.
āOh! Thatās taken too!ā
Of course, Emina, who drew number three, chose the remaining VIP room, and the big prize was gone.
Liza chooses a humble room at the bottom, saying she wants a room close to the hangar ā sheās a real workaholic, isnāt she?
Nanami chooses a room at the top, saying she wants to be high up, and Alana chooses a room at the back, avoiding the area near the bridge and meeting room where everyone gathers, because she wants to sleep peacefully.
Now itās my turn. To be honest, I donāt really care what room it is, the neighbor itās what bothers me.
āYuta, thereās a spot next to Nanami.ā
āOh, thereās a spot next to me, too. Donāt be shy, Yuta.ā
Nanami and Alana suggested that, but I felt like Iād be in trouble no matter which one I chose, so I took the safe option and chose a room with no one next to me.
āWell, itās my turn, I guess Iāll go hereā¦ā¦or hereā¦ā¦thereā¦..or hereā¦ā¦or hereā¦ā¦.ā
And since I was bothered for an uncomfortably long time, Linnecarlo forced me to decide on Arthurās room.
āMy turn, thereās really not a lot of places left to goā¦oh well, Iāll take the one near the bridge.ā
When Jean chose reluctantly, the last Linnecarlo said without hesitation.
āIāll take this one. Itās all the same to me now.ā
She chose the room next to mine.
āLinnecarlo, thatās right next to Yuta, if youāre going to be anywhere, wouldnāt it be better to be in a room with no one around?ā
When Nanami pointed this out to Linnecarlo, she replied a bit suspiciously.
āOh, really? Well, I hadnāt noticed. But Iām not going to change my mind once Iāve chosen a place, so Iāll just have to settle for this one.ā
As she said that, she looked at the scenery outside and somehow turned her face away from me.
