Ch. 0 - Prologue p10 - His and Her “10,000 times” Become “Zero”
“What was that all about earlier?”
I muttered to myself while laying on my bed and staring at the ceiling.
It seems that Karen had made a promise with me, but I can’t remember when she did or what it was about. Or perhaps I should say, I never knew in the first place.
But it was a promise big enough to make Karen cry, right? And I’m pretty sure it’s a promise regarding my love…
But then again, why don’t I remember it?
If I had promised, like some pure maiden, that I would go out with her when I was old enough to get married, I would’ve written it down somewhere. Or rather, I would have chanted it like a spell. Maybe I’m someone who’s cursed.
Pointlessly, I reach my left hand toward the ceiling.
I really don’t know what I’m going to do now.
Karen was very upset that I didn’t remember our promise, and that I decided to give up. However, I’m sure that from now on, we’ll just be normal childhood friends.
But still, I’m worried about the promise.
But I don’t want to be bothered with all this.
If Karen wanted to talk things out, I would listen to her.
“Aaaah!!!!”
I heard a shrill voice coming from the house next door.
Karen is the one who lives in that house.
In other words―that voice belonged to Karen.
“W-What’s wrong with her?
Just today, my childhood friend seems to have gotten a bug.
(TL: bug as in computer bug, like a error/glitch)
I haven’t seen her like this ever before. I’m not sure what truly happened with her… but I’m sure it was because I gave up. Seriously, what am I supposed to do?!
But I had already decided to pursue a new love.
Now I’m at the starting point, or “zero”, so I have to make a dash for it.
But such encounters don’t happen all that often, do they?
“Hah…”
I sighed again for no particular reason.
―At that time, I still didn’t know.
I would quickly start to become popular among many beautiful girls.
