The Shrine was in a state of confusion because of the appearance of filth.
After all, no filth should appear in this kingdom that is protected by the deities.
Moreover, the Shrine should be the closest existence to the deities, so it was highly unthinkable that filth had been generated from the pure saintesses. It was not a simple problem. It was a major incident that shook the nation.
Thanks to that, the Shrine kept on summoning me, one of the related parties, day after day.
They didn’t even ask how I was faring; they just dragged me to the bigwigs of the Shrine and let me hear an earful of the same stuff repeated endlessly.
Not only that, I didn’t even get a single word of thanks, and they kept on spouting nonsense like 'she’s definitely lying”, “there’s no such thing as filth, she just see it wrongly”, “as if we can believe the words of the Incompetent God’s Saintess” as they pleaesd.
‘Then why did you summon me in the first place!!’
Just like today. The priest called me out first thing in the morning, so I left the room in the Shrine while suppressing the rage inside me — but that’s not important.
Actually, the fact that the Shrine had planned to deal with the filth in private, and the royal family even found out about it, so it’s starting to become a huge problem, and there were rumors that the Shrine’s internal state was divided after the correspondence this time —
All these things didn’t matter.
I didn’t care anymore.
“Eleanor-san, thanks for the hard work.”
The priests ended their questioning, and I dragged my tired self into Kami-sama’s room.
I collapsed on the chair, when a cup of tea was placed in front of me.
I didn’t witness how it was done.
It was already there in the instant that I averted my eyes.
‘Er…..’
A faint steam wafted from the black tea.
I could only wordlessly stare at the surface of warm black tea.
“You seem to be very busy recently, so please do not force yourself. You don’t have to take care of me, so would you like to enjoy a cup of tea and relax?”
Kami-sama’s voice was as calm as ever as he spoke behind me.
But for some reason, the height from which it came from seemed different — or so I felt.
Kami-sama’s height should be around my waist.
And yet, why did it seem like it was… a lot… higher…
“…………Ahm, excuse me.” “What is it?… Oh, I see, there’s no sugar! I’m sorry, I’m not really used to doing this.”
Please wait for a moment , he muttered in a slightly flustered voice, and at the same time, I sensed somebody move behind me.
There was really something different about Kami-sama’s presence.
It wasn’t the sound of his round body dragging on the floor. It was like…he’s walking on two feet —
“………”
I gripped the cup of warm tea with both hands, suffering in agony for a short while.
The black tea’s scent was fragrant, and the clear, red surface was beautiful.
Even at a glance, I could already gauge that it was a far better tea than the ones I brew, making me feel a bit depressed, but let’s set that aside for now —
‘I’m pretty sure I put this tea set at the back of the shelf since we won’t be using it anyway.’
Lidianne had sent us tableware, candle holders and other miscellaneous goodies along with the furniture.
And yes, there was a tea set among them.
I gratefully accepted them, but — in the first place, I noticed that we don’t have a stove to boil water inside Kami-sama’s room right after that.
And so, I decided to put the entire tea set away, since we don’t have any use for it.
…We wouldn’t have any opportunities to use it, so I placed it on the very top of the shelf, where I couldn’t reach it with my arm, much less Kami-sama.
“………………….”
‘As I thought, this really is weird, right!!??’
Kami-sama is unexpectedly dextrous despite that black, round body.
He can stretch his body, grab some bread, and drink soup from a cup.
He can pull a chair, open the shelf door — even if it’s just so-so, he can still do it.
Still, we don’t have black tea.
Never mind the tea set, how did he boil water for the tea?
In the first place, even the sugar is placed on top of the shelf, so Kami-sama shouldn’t be able to reach it.
“K-Kami-sama!!”
I couldn’t bear it anymore, so I stood up.
Today is definitely the day I can ask him about what the heck is going on. I turned around —
“Eleanor-san? What happen — Uwah!?”
Kami-sama shrieked..because the jar of sugar fell on top of Kami-sama.
Kami-sama shrank back in embarrassment after catching the bottle that was bouncing inside his head. I, on the other hand, swallowed the rest of my words.
The thing that was standing in front of me didn’t resemble a human at all, no matter how you look at it.
Kami-sama was his usual black, roundish self.
