Episode 74 – Otonashi Parent And Child
Kaori san rushed out of the room without telling us what she was doing, so Iori went to check on her. Kaori san said that she had come to tell us that my father was leaving.
My father was planning to go home alone, but at Iori’s urging I left the Kubota house with him.
“Naru, you’ve stepped into the abyss, haven’t you?
“Eh.”
“If possible I didn’t want you to go through the same pain as me.”
This was the first thing my father said to me after we left the Kubota house.
My father’s pain….to be honest, I didn’t really understand what he was talking about.
“Let’s go home, I need to talk to Rin.”
At my father’s request, we decided to walk home, however, he seemed to be thinking about something, and we didn’t have any conversation after that.
–It was Rin who was surprised when my father and I came home together.
“Dad and stupid big bro……why are you together !?”
“We met by chance at Iori’s house.”
“Huh? Why at Iori’s house?”
I told Rin, who didn’t know what was going on, that Gaku san, Kaori san, and our father were going to participate in Gaku san’s recording session. Rin was so shocked that she could not catch up with her thoughts.
Gaku san has such a big name.
“Naru, Rin, I need to talk to you.”
Father, who always wore a sour face, had an even sterner expression on his face. Rin and I both immediately knew that it was important.
“Naru, are you going to continue playing guitar?
I immediately answered my father’s question.
“Yeah, I will continue…….I won’t throw it away this time.”
“I see.”
Dad left that one word, and a long silence followed.
“Rin, you should stay in Japan and teach Naru how to play guitar.”

It was something I had never expected to hear from my father.
“Wait a minute, Dad ! Rin is still in the middle of the curriculum.”
“Rin, if you’re as good as you are, you don’t need me to teach you anymore. You can handle the rest on your own.”
“Eh—-?”
“But Naru is different. his skills are completely rusted after three years of not playing guitar. You know that, don’t you?”
Just like my father said, my skills are rusty. It would be great if Rin could teach me, but as her older brother, I don’t want to cause trouble for my little sister.
“Then you teach him, Dad !”
“It’s impossible because of my work. If Naru wants to come over here, that’s fine too, but Kubota will be very noisy if I do that.”
–Again there was silence. I waited for the right moment to speak to them.
“Father, Rin, I’m fine- [Fine ,Rin will stay in japan.]”
“Eh !?”
“I said I’m going to teach my stupid big bro to play guitar !”
What power. Then Rin responds immediately to a decision that could change her life.
I wondered if Rin and I might have been born in the wrong gender.
But I was a little happier to know that both of them recognized me.
