After the doctor left with some medicine, Park Noah took the child and attempted to bolt into her room where there would be only two of them so they can talk without interruptions and figure out what happened.
Park Noah suspected that the imprinting process was already progressing. Otherwise, the dragonâs humanization canât be possible. But I never thought it would be a growth with me as collateral!
âWhere are you going? Come here and sit down.â
However, Noahâs attempt miserably failed as she felt an arm grab her nightgown and pulled her back to her chair.
Oh, Lord.
Noah glimpsed at Leonard who placed the child back in his infant chair, his expression strange.
Kyle Leonard is a brute-minded investigator. In his mind, he probably has a full profile titled âEleonora Asil.â Will there be an additional phrase in there that says, âThe culprit behind the disappearance of Sorrentâs eggâ?
Leonard looked back at her as if he felt her eyes, and asked her unexpectedly. âDid you have breakfast?â
âUh⌠I donât usually eat breakfast.â
âYou really are a spectacle.â Leonard clicked his tongue. âDo not use magic for the time being. But I doubt if youâll ever listen to me.â
âDonât worry. Iâm listening with both ears.â Park Noah retorted, rolling her eyes.
âThatâs a relief.â
âYesâŚâ
âI know, as with most wizards, that you draw and process the mana of nature, not the mana of the body. But if you use magic like that, you should restrain yourself in any way.â
Park Noah nodded slowly. I canât even use magic anyway. âYou really donât have to worry about that.â
âThen thereâs only one problem left.â
Again, they glanced at the black curly-haired child at the same time. âThat kid, who is he?â Kyle asked in a stern voice.
Noah let out a nervous laugh, avoiding the investigatorâs piercing gaze. âA three-year-old boyâŚOne day, suddenly, it fell from the skyâŚâ
âAre you sure he fell from the sky?â He scoffed.
Even I donât believe the lie I just made up. Park Noah rubbed her tired eyes. Somehow, her left cheek was hot. She looked to her left and saw the child, who sat quietly in his chair, was staring at Leonard.
UhâŚI think I just felt the heat coming from this side. I can smell a faint smoke if I sniff.
âWould you like to open your hands?â She asked.
The child who was staring intently at the investigator shifted his gaze toward Park Noah, his eyes sullen. He stretched his arms forward. Surprisingly, there was no flame. Noah brushed it off. Maybe Iâm only feeling strange things because of my body. I am getting weak.
A little later, Kyle Leonard spoke hesitantly. ââŚYes. Then letâs pretend he fell from the sky.â
âWhat?â
âThe thought of abandoning the child⌠I donât think so. Yes, I see.â Leonard blabbered, looking as if he was having an internal crisis. Afterwards, he looked at the child in the face intensely.
Does that man have to make such a grim face in front of this child? Noah took the child and placed him on her lap. The child mumbled gloomily in her arms. âItâs not like thatâŚâ
ââŚ..â
âIâm sorryâŚâ The child whispers, bowing his head.
ââŚI know. You didnât mean to.â Park Noah exhaled deeply, caressing the black curls of the child.
Is there anything wrong with the child? If youâre looking for the wrong person, itâs my fault for mistakenly picking up the dragonâs eggs. What should I do now? If I say Iâm going to send him away again, he would cause trouble. I canât take him anywhere right now.
Park Noah was left with only one choice: take the child to the capital and meet the heroine, Lenia, personally.
âAlthough it would be nice if he changed his mind and went to his rightful mother himself,â muttered Noah.
Or maybe I should think of something elseâŚ
Her thoughts were brought to an end when she felt Kyle Leonardâs fierce gaze. Looking up, she asked. âWhatâs the matter, sir?â
ââŚI know what youâre thinking, but I canât do that. I might end up dying at this age.â
