I donât stay up late now compared to when I was in Japan. Besides, not sure if itâs because of the lifestyle I had after being thrown on the island, but Iâm fine sleeping outdoors.
ăI also feel slightly the same. Perhaps thereâs a sleep-related spirit nearby. ă
Is that it!?
ăEven the monsters that normally donât sleep that much are affected. ă
Itâs just as Shiva said. The monsters around us were swaying. We have to slay them right now, though.
ăHuh? ă
Hmm, considering the situation, maybe ăMental Resistanceăis doing its job?
I swung ăZanzenkenăwhile mulling that over. As time went by, more rats started crouching without the intent to attack, and nothing came out even if we went near the bug holes.
ăOh, daifuku. ă
ăDaifuku? ă
Everyone turned their gazes on the spot I was staring at.
Two huge white things sat on the ground. They looked quite soft.
ăA human⌠and a cat? ă
The things I thought were daifuku were none other than a giant white cat curled up, and a human wrapped in a white robe. Both of them looked so soft, like two pieces of huge daifuku.
The catâs overcoat is white, but upon closer look, itâs undercoat is ash. Maybe thatâs the reason why I saw it as a daifuku.
ăThe cat appears to be a spirit. ă
ăSo this guyâs the reason, huh. But why are they here? ă
ăWant me to wake them up? ă
If I still had my stick with me then I couldâve poked them.
We decided to deal with the monsters first. They looked like they were sleeping, so we annihilated every single one of them. Not sure whether the task is too easy, but Dinosso looked really sleepy.
We checked the Daifukus again after we secured our safety. I turned off ăLight ăjust as a precaution.
ăHello~ Can you hear us? ă
Shiva raised her lantern and called out, but no response.
I took out enough lanterns for each of us, and everyone was holding theirs up.
ăUgh⌠ăDinosso.
ăâŚThe sleepiness has become more potent. ăButler.
ăAre we too loud? ăShiva.
Dinosso softly approached, but he stopped before reaching the Daifukus.
ăCanât go any further. ă
He tapped on the air â looks like thereâs an invisible wall here. The cat opened its eye a slit to glance at Dinosso before yawning.
I silently took a wooden box out, then peeked at the cat and roughly compared its size with the small box.
It mustâve piqued the catâs interest when I opened the lid and set it down. It sluggishly got up and entered the box. It perfectly fit inside, as if proving that cats do have fluid bodies.
I gently covered the box.
ă⌠ă
The trio stared at me.
ăWhat to do now? ă
ăNo, dunno, even if you ask me. ă
ăPerhaps it must have been better if we came up with a plan first before capturing it? ă
ăOh dear. ă
Hey, that box isnât sealed or anything, so itâs not like I captured it. Look at that tail hanging out of the box, thatâs proof, see.
I just wanted to try putting the cat in.
ăHmmm! ă
The other daifuku moved.
The daifuku stretched wide after raising its body. Ah, the hood came off and blackish, purple hair spilled out.
ăGirl? ă
ăGood morning. Are you the ones who got Whyle? ă
A pale, almost translucent face looked up at us, its owner still sitting on the ground. Her skin looked soft just like a daifuku.
Goodness, I canât remove that daifuku impression from my mind. Letâs make some later when weâre home.
ăIf you mean that white spirit cat, then itâs inside this box. ă
Dinosso pointed to the box by my feet with his thumb.
ăOh, what a surprise, even though he didnât want to get away from me before⌠ă
ăMay we know who you are, and what are you doing here? ă
Shiva asked.
She might look cute, but she had been sleeping in the midst of swarming monsters suspected of overpopulation. None of us tried to approach this unidentified little girl.
ăIâm SaraâŚ. I wanted to sleep, but itâs too noisy outside. I couldnât help it, I was way too sleepy, so Whyle took me here. Whyle put up protective barriers, so it was possible for someone like me to come hereâŚ. I was half-asleep, though. ă
ăYou said it was noisy outside. Isnât it noisy here? ă
ăWhyleâs barrier is almost totally soundproof. As for ânoisyâ, Iâm referring to a person named Roza-sama. She wanted to borrow Whyleâs barrier. ă
So she even tried to scout around here, huh. And quite persistent at that.
ăIâm perfectly happy if I have three meals a day, can sleep in until late in the morning, have naps, and sleep the whole night. Based on what she said, I wonât get that, so I turned her down. ă
ăYouâre just sleeping most of the time, huh? ă
Dinosso quipped.
ăIndeed. I can only stay awake for about two hours a day, and even then Iâm still sleepy. I only felt truly awake now, when Whyle left me. ă
How should I put this â sounds like a lifestyle thatâs difficult for anyone except little princesses who donât have to lift a finger to do anything.
ăFortunately, Iâm blessed with beauty and a great figure, and Iâm also confident in my skin. My goal is to work as a mistress or a lover who doesnât have to get out of bed. ă
Hm?
ăWhat a lass, spouting terrible things with that smile. ă
Dinosso.
Oh, so I didnât mishear her, huh.
ăHow about getting a job related to that protective barrier? ă
ăWhen Whyle sleeps, nobody else can stay inside the barrier other than me. I also told Roza-sama that weâre useless, but it seems I was too sleepy to relay it properly. ă
Sara replied to Butlerâs query.
ăPerhaps she wanted to use that âsleepinessâ? ă
ăNo matter which one it is, I donât have any desire to go with her. Based on that personâs proposal, sheâs planning to drag me around. ă
I donât want to get out of my bed ~ said Sara.
ăOh, by the way, I apologize for my rudeness, but do you have anything to eat, perchance? ă
Sara furrowed her pretty eyebrows while asking us, looking troubled.
