Qin Cheng has been in a coma for four days, but the hospital couldn’t figure out the reason why. They could only give Qin Cheng some glucose, without daring to do anything else.
Qin Cheng, while in a coma, could feel that something wasn’t right. He knew that he had slept for too long and it was time to wake up, but no matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t wake up at all. His hands and feet felt heavy, and he couldn’t open his eyes. He felt like he was falling into chaos.
Among this chaos, some pictures kept flashing in front of his ‘eyes’, but he couldn’t see the surrounding scenes with clarity. It was as if he was hanging in the air, looking down at the chaos below his ‘feet’. In those flashing pictures, he could see himself wearing different clothes. As Qin Cheng tried to identify those clothes, he noticed that some were from the Tang and Ming Dynasty
. While some seemed to be ethnic clothes. There was even a Chinese tunic suit 1
.
In all those pictures, Qin Cheng saw himself either writing or observing. Like the usual archeological work he does everyday, ‘he’ would record something day after day, year after year
.
However, Qin Cheng couldn’t see what was being written. He could only see the pictures flashing constantly one after the other, showing a boring and familiar type of work.
These pictures weren’t coherent. There were even some that were like blurry old photos, in which Qin Cheng could simply not understand what was going on.
He couldn’t wake up, and these pictures keep repeating over and over again in front of him
.
When you watch a movie once or twice, it’s a good experience, when you watch it three or four times, it loses its freshness, and when you watch it five or six times, it becomes boring. After all, it’s the same thing repeating over and over again in front of your eyes. To make it worse, Qin Cheng wasn’t able to see those images clearly, and he wasn’t even sure how many times they repeated in front of him. Qin Cheng was tired of looking at them and didn’t want to see those pictures anymore. He wanted to close his eyes, but in reality, he couldn’t open them in real life. He was in a coma, and he couldn’t close his eyes in his sleep, so he had to keep looking at the pictures appearing one after the other by force.
Not only was Qin Cheng upset, but he also wanted to escape this space. However, no matter how much he struggled, he was unable to move or make any kind of sound! The state he was in made Qin Cheng feel even more anxious, making him agitated and short of breath, as if he was suffocating, imprisoned in a tiny cage. Of course, there wasn’t any cage, but he still couldn’t escape.
For some reason, Qin Cheng remembered the online rumors about a method of judging political prisoners. That method didn’t use any kind of severe torture or questioning, instead, it was about putting the prisoner in confinement, serving them food and water as usual, and showing them the same film over and over again. This way, the prisoner was left alone with the film, provoking them into commiting suicide. In a situation like that, it was said that many people couldn’t endure more than two days.
Qin Cheng used to think that this method of judging people was quite mild, but now, when he had the misfortune of experiencing it himself, he could tell how vicious it actually was. Even though there wasn’t any physical punishment, the mental torture was unbearable. After staying in this place for what felt like three days, Qin Cheng began to think that he might go insane.
After a long time, Qin Cheng entered a trance, where he slowly became unable to see any pictures, even though they kept flashing in front of him. At some point, without Qin Cheng knowing how much time had actually passed, he began to hear a sound. That sound lasted for a long time, but Qin Cheng simply thought that it was an illusion. Until a familiar voice came into his ears, abruptly bringing Qin Cheng back to his senses.
“I’m Su Yunzhi. I wonder, what is this honorable man’s name? I’ll definitely go to your house to thank you properly 2 .”
That man had the arrogance of a Gongzi 3 , and the teasing tone Qin Cheng had heard many times from Su Jingmo. This tone of voice, although young, couldn’t conceal his natural Royal dominance. This Su Yunzhi
.who else could he be other than Su Jingmo?!
After ‘waking’ up from the trance, Qin Cheng snapped his head up to look towards the voice, but the moment he moved his gaze, the image in front of him disappeared. As for the sound he just heard, it also disappeared when he ‘woke up’.
‘ What’s going on? That voice just now was Su Jingmo’s, but
. ’ At that moment, Qin Cheng realized that Su Jingmo had never said these words to him.
‘ Su Yunzhi
Jingmo said that this was his courtesy name, but he never mentioned it again
because I always called him by his given name, Jingmo. ’
For some reason, Qin Cheng felt that those words sounded very familiar. However, Qin Cheng soon realized that after hearing those words, his heart started to hurt, as if he was about to lose something extremely important to him, or if he was about to give up the most important person in his life. He felt so helpless, like his heart was being stabbed by a knife that was trying to engrave something in his soul. Something that couldn’t be forgotten even after death
.
Qin Cheng was immersed in a dazed state for a while, until he realized that he was able to move. As Qin Cheng covered his painful chest, he repeated a name in a low voice without realizing he was doing so: “Su Jingmo, Su Jingmo
.”
When Qin Cheng finally broke away from these grieving emotions, a picture suddenly appeared in front of him. As Qin Cheng approached it feeling somewhat confused, he could see a man wearing long robes with purple edges, while the top of the robe was adorned with a pattern of twigs and flowers embroidered in gold thread. His long hair and beard were both gray, as if he had been waiting for something for years, and even though Qin Cheng was unable to see this man’s face, he somehow could tell that this man should be his past life
.
Qin Cheng saw this man sitting in front of a table, writing row after row of words on a piece of paper.
“Pu Huang drank all the water of Chang’an 4 , while Xuan Yuan 5 took the opportunity to travel all the way to the Capital 6 .”
–Buzz– Qin Cheng was so shocked that he tried to look closely at what this man had written, but right in the next instant, Qin Cheng, who had fallen into a coma, finally woke up.
After being in a coma for such a long time, when Qin Cheng woke up all of a sudden, he was unable to completely recover consciousness. His mind was dizzy and his limbs were too stiff to move. Even a slight movement caused him pain, and Qin Cheng could only take slow breaths to calm down. Only after observing his surroundings for a while did he realize that he was in the hospital again, but there was no one in this ward, so Qin Cheng didn’t know who was the one that took him to the hospital.
"
"
As he remembered the dream he had just now, Qin Cheng was lost in thought. However, he didn’t have too much time to think about it, because Wu Hai, who had gone to buy lunch,  came back. When Wu Hai saw Qin Cheng’s open eyes, he rushed to the hospital bed completely surprised to see him awake: “You fucking finally woke up!”
Zhang Jun, who had gone to the toilet, heard the commotion and hurried to push open the door: “Finally! I fucking thought you were going to become a vegetable!” Then he walked up to Qin Cheng’s side, only to jokingly punch Qin Cheng’s shoulder: “You’ve been in a coma for four days!”
“Four days?!” Qin Cheng froze. He really didn’t expect that he would be asleep for so long. “What happened?”
“What happened?! How dare you ask that shit?! We looked for you like crazy, and we couldn’t even contact you through the phone, you know?! Then Wu Hai and I rushed to Ninghua Village to see if we could find you there, and when we did, we found you almost dead in that lounge!”
Wu Hai, who was beside Zhang Jun, nodded as Zhang Jun spoke. After helping Qin Cheng lean on the pillow, Wu Hai said: “When we found you, we thought you were already dead. If we hadn’t found that you were still breathing
.”
“Not even Qu Zhiwen knows what happened for you to end up like this. Your body was stiff, your face was pale and blue, and both your breathing and heartbeat were extremely slow!” At that moment, Zhang Jun remembered how ugly Qin Cheng’s face looked that day. “
.Tell me, were you possessed by a ghost? I told you to not have an intimate relationship with that ghost, did I not? If you keep going like this, aren’t you going to be killed by that ghost?!”
“What do you know?” Zhang Jun didn’t know what Qin Cheng’s situation was, so his words would naturally not sound good to him. Qin Cheng can tolerate many things, but when it comes to Su Jingmo, Qin Cheng doesn’t want to hear someone badmouthing him, even if he knows that Zhang Jun was just worried about him.
“Hah! Yes! Since I don’t know anything, I will just take care of you on your deathbed!”
“I don’t need you to.”
“Qin Cheng! Is this what you have to say?!”
“Alright! What’s with this bickering? Are you two little kids?” Wu Hai looked at the angry faces of both men and sighed, “Qin Cheng just woke up from a coma, let him rest for a while. Zhang Jun, go and buy porridge for Qin Cheng, I’ll stay here with him. Also, contact Qu Zhiwen while you are at it.”
When Zhang Jun heard this, he only hummed and said: “
.‘Go buy’ my ass!”
After saying that, he slammed the door shut and left.
Qin Cheng knew that he had said too much, and that what Zhang Jun had said to him was simply because he was worried. After knowing each other for so many years, how could he not understand Zhang Jun’s personality? In fact, the things he said weren’t even worth quarreling about, and when he saw Zhang Jun slamming the door as he left, Qin Cheng’s face showed how uncomfortable he felt.
“You know he’s worried about you
.”
Wu Hai couldn’t help but feel awkward when saying this.
In the end, between the three of them, the one with the worst temperament was Wu Hai, who was impatient. Even though Zhang Jun had a loose mouth, he had a good heart. As for Qin Cheng, it was known that he doesn’t particularly like to communicate with people. Wu Hai used to hate Qin Cheng’s sullen personality, but when he got to know him better, Wu Hai realized that Qin Cheng was just an archeology nerd who didn’t care about socializing with people. This, of course, made him look sullen on the surface, and it didn’t help that he also spoke harshly to everyone.
Now, when the optimistic buffoon and the sullen taciturn man had a fight
.the one with the actual bad temper was trying to appease them both?
Zhang Jun can’t really control his mouth, and he can speak for hours without end, but in the end, he was kind-hearted with the things he said. This was the first time Qin Cheng and Zhang Jun had fought for real, and yet, when Zhang Jun left the room, he still went to buy porridge for Qin Cheng.
As Wu Hai looked at the two immature men twisting and turning their heads in an attempt to put on a bad face, Wu Hai couldn’t stop himself from saying: “I actually can’t believe you two could quarrel
.” After saying this, Qin Cheng and Zhang Jun looked at each other, and when they saw the other’s expression, they couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
After laughing, the unhappiness surrounding them also disappeared.

After Qin Cheng woke up from the coma, his body recovered surprisingly fast. The stiffness disappeared in no time, and by the time Qu Zhiwen had arrived, Qin Cheng was already able to walk like a healthy man again. Seeing this, Qu Zhiwen used a technique to explore Qin Cheng’s physical condition, which revealed that Qin Cheng was fully recovered.
“Fully recovered?” Wu Hai and Zhang Jun were aware of Qin Cheng’s original condition, so when they heard Qu Zhiwen say that Qin Cheng was perfectly fine, they couldn’t believe it. “There’s nothing wrong with him?”
“No, it’s almost like nothing happened to him. Moreover, I felt that Qin Cheng’s health was even better than the last time I saw him.”
In fact, even if Qu Zhiwen hadn’t said it, Qin Cheng could sense that his body was much more relaxed than before. Even though he didn’t know if this change was due to sleeping for four days straight
.
“Since I’m well, I guess I’ll be discharged. I think that my recent injuries and constant fatigue led to this lethargic state, so I’ll try to be more careful in the future.” After saying that, Qin Cheng looked at Wu Hai and said: “Didn’t you tell me that you found an apartment for me? I’ll go see the place later and move right away.”
“Alright, Zhang Jun and I will go help you later.”
When Qu Zhiwen saw that Qin Cheng seemed reluctant to say anything else in front of his two friends, he no longer tried to inquire about the matter. Before leaving, he simply hinted to Qin Cheng that Su Jingmo must be hiding a lot of things from him.
“Sometimes, the things he said may not necessarily be true. Remember, that person has never been a good man to begin with.”
Qin Cheng didn’t nod or shake his head in reply, he simply smiled and remained silent.
Since Qin Cheng didn’t have many things with him, he packed them on his own as Zhang Jun and Wu Hai went to call for a taxi at the entrance of the hospital. After Qin Cheng finished with the discharge formalities, he walked out of the hospital with a list in his hand. Because he was too focused on the paper, Qin Cheng didn’t notice that there was someone walking in front of him, and ended up bumping into them.
“Sorry.”
After hearing the cold voice of the man, Qin Cheng, who was picking up the paper that had fallen on the ground after the collision, stood up and replied: “It’s alright, I wasn’t paying atten–
.”
However, before Qin Cheng could finish his words, he saw that man’s appearance. The face of the man that had collided with him was not only cold and indifferent, but it was actually quite similar to Su Jingmo’s face.
Except for his eyes
.
Qin Cheng just saw his past lives?!! That’s kinda cool lol
Is that man the one Qu Zhiwen mentioned last time? The one who looks like Su Jingmo’s brother? 👀👀
