Chapter 19 [The cliched skipping ranks.]

After the orc subjugation concluded, we met the guild master in the guild’s reception room.

When we faced the delinquent adventurers, he took our side and currently, he had an awfully apologetic expression.

“I heard what you guys did. Everybody in front of the castle gates saw you guys subjugate the 10 ogres. Additionally, if you didn’t subjugate them, not a small amount of people who couldn’t run away immediately would’ve been killed. Thank you.”

“No, it’s only because I had the means to defeat it.”

“Even so, in the report, I heard that you defeated six ogres with a Mana Crystal worth five small gold coins each shot.”

Shooting a pebble at high speed is possible even for a D-rank magician.

However, a normal rock would break when it hits the monster’s body.

This time, it was possible to break through the defense of the C-rank monster’s mana by using the disposable hardened Magic Crystal, but generally speaking, it’s not a method that can be used many times.

Then, he took a breath, moistened his mouth with a drink, and continued the conversation.

“Your attitude and actions of prioritizing to save human life is highly valued in the guild. As a result of the battle, I thought of raising the two of you up to C-rank.”

“You thought of. That means something’s different, right?”

“Chise. The method you utilized in the ogre fight was high-power physical magic that uses Magic Crystals. However, that can be thought of as utilizing a disposable tool and raising your original strength. Taking that into account, I’d like to raise Chise to D-rank. Tet, who soloed them, to C-rank.”

I wonder if the rank up was just compensation for the deficit of using the valuable Magic Crystals as disposables.

As for me, if I could obtain the minimum requirements of D-rank to enter the dungeon controlled by the guild, I had no objection to the guild master’s proposal.

“I don’t mind—-[Tet doesn’t agree!]…… Tet?”

“Hmph, I want to be together with Majo-sama~! I don’t want to be C-rank by myself~!”

“Wait, Tet!?”

Tet suddenly declared her objection, and I calmed her down while listening to her story, but it seems like she wasn’t pleased with my rank being different.

However, it was unreasonable to raise my rank to C, so Tet herself said that she was going to be D-rank.

“I’ve seen many requests to raise their rank up until now, but this is the first time where the person themself said to lower their rank……”

“Sorry……”

“No need, we haven’t processed the raising in ranks yet, so don’t worry about it. “For the time being, congrats on your D-rank.”

While I was finishing up my herb collection request, I received my new card.

“So, what are you girls going to do after this? There should be hunting for orc survivors for the time being in this town.”

The orc king settlement was destroyed, but there were countless orcs that ran away during that time.

The request to kill them was an orc subjugation one, so it became a D-rank request, it seems like there’s no need to be worried about requests.

“We’ve become D-ranks, so we’re going to leave the town and travel to a slightly different place. We have no particular goal and search for a place that looks like it can become a place where we can live in peace.”

“Well, that’s the case if you’re an adventurer.”

As he said that, he put his hand against his chin and was worried.

“Adventurers like you guys will make huge waves wherever you go. I want you to stay in this town, but I’ll be cheering you on.”

Having received the guild master’s encouragement, Tet and I excused ourselves from the guild and returned to the inn.

“To think that the two who defeated the ogres in front of the town’s gate was Chise-chan and Tet-chan! That’s amazing!”

The inn’s daughter was somehow treating us like heroes, but I only had an embarrassed expression and hurriedly returned to my room.

“I’m somewhat worn-out with the various things that happened. Let’s go to sleep for today.”

“Yes, Majo-sama, good night~.”

Then, even though we defeated an ogre, we slept in our bed quietly as usual.

However, when people heard that ogres which were a threat to the town had been defeated, the noise of the people downstairs in the dining hall-cum-bar continued until late at night.

Not the stuffed animal you sleep with, but the kind where you hand the head on your wall.
