Chapter 22.2 - Fake Giants Panic

Chapter 22.2 – Fake Giants Panic
Half an hour later.
Xu Jiazhu, Lin Mo, and Tian Heng gathered in a faintly dim room.
After hearing Tian Heng’s report, the other two looked at one another and nodded.
“Impossible. Absolutely impossible.”
Though in particular, Xu Jiazhu was shocked.
Tian Heng continued. “Shortly after Shen Lang left Heavenly Silk Pavilion, the cavalry knights from the Count’s Palace ran him over. His unconscious body was dragged to towards the Count’s Palace right after. Then came the sudden news that the young lady of the Count’s Palace will soon be married. Jin Zhong personally visited Shen Lang’s home to escort his family to observe the wedding come this evening.”
“It is possible that fool had gone to hug the thighs of the Count’s son. Two peas in the same pod.” Xu Jiazhu chuckled. “After all, they’re both wastes. But how good is Miss Jin Mulan? How can she possibly see Shen Lang as her partner in love? Besides, I just kicked Shen Lang out of my house. A son-in-law who was expelled from the wife’s home, even a widow from the countryside may not be willing to marry him let alone a century-old giant?”
“Brother Xu, this Shen Lang may not necessarily be a waste. If it’s true, I’m afraid he’d not be able to think of a recipe for the golden and rainbow dyes.” Said Lin Mo of Heavenly Silk Pavilion.
Xu Jiazhu smiled. “Brother Lin, you really think too much. Dye recipes comes only from luck and needs a fool like Shen Lang to invent.”
Lin Mo sank back to his thoughts. It’s true that the short exchange with Shen Lang yesterday made him come to the conclusion him not being a fool.
“Anyways, the most important thing is that Shen Lang had been labeled a thief and a lustful fool when expelled by my Xu Family House. Does the Count’s Palace have no face for a notorious person? We shall see… we shall see.”
The three giants nodded, assured in their thoughts.
In Xuanwu City, there are many who are shameless, but it is only the Count’s Palace who cherishes face the most.
“Master Xu, the Count sent out the invitations today. Can you tell me who the groom is?” Curious, Tian Heng asked.
Xu Jiazhu shook his head. “It does not say! But it can’t be Shen Lang. Even if the sun rises in the west and falls in the east, it can’t be him.”
Lin Mo interjected. “Even if it is not Shen Lang, it is best we make sure to send a personage of our own to attend the wedding this coming evening.”
Suddenly, the three men looked at one another bitterly. None of them received an invitation for the Count’s Palace.
Many invitations were sent out from the Count’s Palace to many military officers, court officials, accredited scholars, local heroes and so forth.
Though these three men were powerful, they were only businessmen and a lowly gangster.
“I will go to the wedding.” Tian Heng spoke up.
Surely the Count won’t expel him from his palace without an invitation. But who’d so boldly attend without an invitation? It takes great courage to do so.
Lin Mo nodded. “Thank you, Mr. Tian. As for the gift, I will prepare it myself.”
“That’s right. After all, The Count is the master of Xuanwu City. Even if we don’t attend the wedding ceremony, we at least need to prepare a generous gift. My Xu Family is not short of money.”
Tiang Heng clapped his hands. “Then it’s settled. The two of you will prepare the gifts as soon as possible. When finished, I will go to the Earl’s Palace immediately.”
“I’ll go ahead and get it ready.” Lin Mo bowed and excused himself.
He went back to Heavenly Silk Pavilion and picked out rare items. He kept recalling the interactions he had with Shen Lang. He shouldn’t do it. It was bad for his body, but somehow… a lingering fear he could not dispel trailed from behind.
He not only betrayed Shen Lang but had said some vicious words.
If fate destines him to become a stepping stone for Shen Lang as he rises to power, it’s no worse than death itself.
Lin Mo can only hope… can only pray that all he fears does not come true.
But thinking about it now, that sort of thing occurring is impossible. How can a humble man like the Earl allow a fool who’d been kicked out by the Xu Family to become his son-in-law?
… …. …
Half an hour later, the three giants gathered once more with their prepared gifts in hand.
Tian Heng called for a carriage and rode to the Count’s Palace brazenly without any invitation.
Don’t be Shen Lang! Don’t be Shen Lang!
At the same time, Shen Lang’s ex-wife, Xu Qianqian, had attended the wedding because her fiance, Zhang Jin, was of an esteemed position. His family was one of the many few who’d received an invitation from the Count’s palace.
“Zhan Jin, the Count’s Palace is so mysterious. Who do you think the groom is? Which one of the most powerful family’s son will marry Miss Jin Mulan?”\n
