Extra Volume 1 Chapter 1 - In the Village We Dropped by

This was the time when we recently accepted the carriage from the King of Bivnaheim and are on our way to Norcheim.

Our journey was going smoothly, until an unexpected problem occurred.

The condition of our horses suddenly became worse.

“Cecil, how are they.?”

Right now, we stopped the carriage to the roadside and have Cecil look at them.

I can ride horses, but I don’t know much about a horse’s health.

Heck even I who was taught horseback riding can’t remember the lessons well.

I still think we’re fine, as Cecil is nearby for our rescue.

“Let’s see……their symptoms are not heavy, but it should be better for them to rest in a place with some shade. With a roof even better.”

“Got it. Fran, is there a village near us?”

I asked Fran for a place to take the break.

Now that I observed it, the number of people coming out is far too many for a village of this size.

“What is going on?”

After I asked, Cecil answered back.

“It seems to be an annual festival of some sort, Allan-sama. As for why are they too many people, there came from the nearby villages to join the celebration.”

“Oh, a festival huh……”

There are also similar festivals in our hometown, but the cultures here and there are completely different.

All of a sudden, some of the crowd burst into cheers, creating quite a commotion.

“Wow, they look so lively over there. Do you guys want to take a look?”

As if anticipating my answer, the four girls nodded right away.

A festival like this was just right for resting our worn-out bodies.

We can’t proceed until the horses’ conditions were completely restored anyway.

“There is no need to be in a hurry. After all, the less the haste, the more the speed.”

“Wow, there was a saying like that? Quite profound of you, Allan-sama”

Cecil showed interest on the proverb. Well, this came from my previous life after all.

Cecil became disappointed, but it seems she’s accepted my words.

After all, there are a million books in the court library.

“For now, let’s enjoy the festival. I’ve never been in a foreign one before”

I took the four people and joined in the celebration.

I’ve been expecting myself, Cecil and Effie to get a lot of attention, but they surprisingly didn’t say anything.

For some reason, the natives thought of their looks as some sort of costumes.

Now that I had a closer look, some of them are even dressed in different disguises.

“Hey, onee-san. I got a fancy dress here. I’ll give you a bonus if you want to buy!”

“Ara, then I’ll take one then?”

Effie seems to be enjoying it as well.

In the previous city, we attracted attention of so many people, contrary to our liking.

For the people to be relaxed as they interact with us, it was so refreshing.

“There seems to be more people at the center. Let’s go take a look.”

Upon reaching the said square, what we saw was an open platform, seem to be serving as the stage there.

Were they planning to have a show or something?

“Everyone, be careful not to get lost……eh?”

As soon as I turned around, I opened my eyes wide.

The figures of Cecil and the others that was there a while ago are now missing.

As if a smoke blown by the wind, they suddenly disappeared.

“Oioi……Oh well, they must have gone elsewhere to enjoy themselves. Besides, we’ll meet at the inn eventually.”

The village is not that big, so it’s impossible to get lost.

Also, finding them in this crowd will be pretty difficult.

“They’re big girls now. They should be able to take care of themselves. But I guess I have to find them, just to make sure.”

The only one I’m worried about is Helena, this was the first time for her to go in this kind of journey.

Well, she isn’t wearing anything special, so I don’t think she’ll get involved into trouble.

Plus, she’s not a kid anymore.

However, to resolve my worries once and for all, I tried searching for her, while enjoying the festival simultaneously.

After a while, I still don’t have a clue of where they are. The noise from the crowd kept on bugging me.

No matter how keen the elven senses are, our ears and nose are useless as they can’t filter out sounds from the noise, like in this festival.

However, i didn’t give up looking for the girls who went lost.

“No choice, I have to retrace my steps……Ah, pops, give me one of those skewers”

“Here you go!”

I’m looking for them, but the situation is not that urgent to loose my cool.

I searched my vicinity while looking at some stalls at the same time.

It’s quite bustling around me, but it’s a festival, so I don’t feel bad at all.

“MMm~ delicious. Yep, its nice to have these kinds of food sometimes”

I tried different foods along the way.

Cecil and the other girls’ cooking is delicious, but they still don’t really match those dishes created by professionals.

Well, the ambiance of the festival may be another factor that enhanced the flavor.

After I’ve eaten all, I threw away the skewers and started walking again.

There are no trash bins here, but all the skewers and plates here are naturally made, so they will return to nature, once they’re thrown out.

It was no doubt that it’s eco-friendlier here than my previous life.

“It’s really hard to find Helena in this crowd”

I already looked at everything around me, but it’s really difficult to find someone like her with a short stature in this mass of tall people.

“It’s better to find Effie first to search her from the sky……no, that would draw attention too much”

The people here thought it was a costume, so it would be a big fuss if she revealed it to be a real thing.

Plus it’s still not sure if Helena is here.

While I was lost in my thoughts, someone called me in the rear.

“Oh, Allan-kun, you were here. Where are the others?”

“Even a bunch of hooligans aren’t a match for Effie. Plus you can fly in the sky in case you need to escape”

“Hey Allan-kun. Let’s go over there. There is a place I want to take you to”

“Where do you want to go? I hope it’s not some weird place……”
