The sun had set, and the area turned into jet-black darkness. In the darkness, there was the man from the Vampire race doing his duty. It was very quiet when he was here, but I felt that the time passed more peacefully than when I was alone with the armored guard during the day.
Maybe I had gotten used to this man by now. I had grown to like the way his red eyes sometimes look at me, and how they sparkled in the light of the lamp.
âEven so, what happened during the day today was a masterpiece.â The man stopped himself from picking up more work and muttered. His shoulders moved slightly.
The man stood up from his seat and snapped his fingers. Suddenly, a steamy cup appeared in front of him.
âHere you go, have a drink. Iâve prepared some warm milk for you.â
âThank you very much. But what was it you say was a masterpiece?â
Nothing came to mind when I tried to guess what he was talking about and the manâs shoulders shook again.
âI mean, that confidential book that belonged to the Chancellor of your country. I read what you wrote down there and I noticed everything was in great detail. Did you read through it very throughly before?â
âNot really. I wandered in his room once when I was a little boy, and while looking around, I found a very pretty colored book. So I flipped through it and saw the content. I didnât know what it really meant because I didnât understand the material before, but now that Iâm here to get married, Iâve been studying a little bit about bed matters, and I finally understand what the content was about.â
âHoho, I see. So youâve grown up a bit.â
As the man opened his mouth happily, I felt refreshed. The warm milk in my hand was slightly sweet, and the pleasant laughter echoing quietly marked the most calming moment I had experienced since I came to this country.
A different kind of smile crept up on my face when I thought that the man with the calm expression and relaxed white cheeks had read the contents of that bundle of papers.
âSo youâve read it.â
âI have read it. Your handwriting is very easy on the eyes and very inviting, so it made me excited to read it. But I donât think I can ever like NTR, either.â
âSo you donât like NTR either. Then⊠next time shall I write down the book that was hidden in my third brotherâs room? Itâs about a princess whose limbs were entangled by an ivy-like monster that has its own will-â
âThatâs another peculiar inclination, but I donât like tentacles either.â
âOh, so they are called âtentaclesâ? I also felt weird for a sex guidance book to have ivies. Then-â
Something cold was pressed against my mouth when I tried to say âa secret book from my other brotherâ.
Before I knew it, the man was in the cage. I looked up at him and wondered how he could have gotten in when there was no entrance and the surrounding was blocked by a transparent wall, but he slowly removed his index finger from my lips.
âHe might look like that, but my Lord the Demon King is a complete beginner. Please donât be too hard on him.â
âI see. But I was told by the Chancellor that a good-looking person like that is an âexpertâ.â
âIs that so⊠Thereâs a discrepancy in information then. Iâll tell the Chancellor of your country next time. Did he say anything else to you?â
âThatâs right⊠He said that the sooner I present this body to the other party and have a sexual relation with him, the sooner our two countries will be at peace. He said that the Demon Kingdoms like people who have lots of experience, so it would be a good idea to behave like that. The incubus Curiz soon found out how Iâm actually inexperienced thoughâŠâ
âI see, so thatâs what that night crawl was all aboutâŠâ
The man narrowed his eyes and ran his fingers down my cheek.
The more I got involved with the people here, the more I realized that everything the Chancellor had told me was false. The information I obtained in advance was all bullshit.
From the conversation in the Demon Kingâs office, I could hear some information about the status of the national border. The magical boundary at the Potpourri Kingdomâs side has successfully taken effect. Meanwhile, Iâm here in a limbo with the contract that is still not concluded.
I looked up at the man and did some thinking:
âEven if I were to sign a contract with someone, this contract wouldnât be valid. If the contract is not concluded, it will be taken as a sign that the Humans have no intention of making peace, and even this peace treaty will disappear.â
âThatâs precisely why they chose to send me here as a discarded pawn. Even if the Demon race hunted me down, it was nothing to them. Iâm sure there is a loophole somewhere, so they made use of it by sending me here. As long as the contract on that side is in effect, it was enough; as for me, that father of mine never thought of me as someone important after all.â
âIt might be that he 1 doesnât even want to make peace in the first place. The current state of affairs is that the Kingdom of Potpourri is under a defensive magic resulting from the formed contract in their side, so it cannot be invaded from the Demon country. However, the Demon country can be invaded from the side of the humans.â
âThis contract, which is based on the premise of bearing a child, is invalid as there are currently no women in the royal family.â
âWhy did you people put me here?â
Now that the contract couldnât be formed, we should take up this matter with the other side, at least they would come up with any random reason to attack here. Sure enough, even if we pursued this matter, they would come up with a lot of excuses to dodge the issue anyway.
The man was quietly looking down at me. The palm of his hand on my cheek was cold, and his skin was white. His beautiful silver hair flowing over his shoulders.
âWe do not intend to be as inhumane as you think, nor do we wish to slaughter the Human race. Do you know the reason the war that had been called off last time started again? Apparently, the reasons I know for starting the war are quite different from the reasons told by the Human race.â
âIt was said in the royal castle that it was because the⊠Demon race hunted the human and threatened the Human race⊠As I thought, itâs not true, is it?â
âIâm not sure what you mean by âAs I thoughtâ. So you were aware that those were lies? You may be more intelligent than we have been told.â
âYes. The Chancellor will never tell me actual facts. He probably thinks I donât know the truth⊠since Iâm not educated.â When I spat that out with a self-loathing chuckle, my eyebrows furrowed slightly.
âI believe this. I think the Human race has given up a very valuable personâŠâ
âNo, thatâs totally not the case. Absolutely not.â
âOf course it is. You have a very good memory. That is a very rare ability. There are some demons who can walk three steps and forget what they were told.â
âWow, there is such a person. Iâm a little jealousâŠI remember things that I donât even need to remember.â
âThatâs also quite a capability. To me, thatâs likeable.â
When I was told things that made me happy, my heart thumped hard. I was happy even if those were just superficial words. I was also happy that he was there for me every night like this. As I rubbed my face, which was about to loosen up, the man nodded his head.
âThatâs right. Letâs fulfill the contract soon.â
I wondered what he meant by âfulfill the contractâ so I tilted my head, in that instant I felt something cold and soft touch my mouth.
It was the manâs lips. He quickly pulled away.
âHow about me as your marriage partner? There was a person from the royal family who married into my tribe in the distant past, so I am somewhat also a member of the Demon Lordâs bloodline. Although I donât have a lot of royal blood in me.â
âWell⊠How long is the marriage period?â
âWhat do you mean by âHow longâ?â
âYou see, once the contract is fulfilled, the border magic will be activated. If that happens, Iâm no longer needed, right?â
âWhich means that when the contract is fulfilled, you can discard me and get a new spouse.â
âI perfectly know that, and Iâm already prepared for it, but I just want to enjoy just a little of the happiness of marriageâŠif I could.â
âI know itâs selfish of me, but Iâm longing for a happy marriage. I know thatâs a pipe dream⊠In my second brotherâs secret book, there is a story about a loving and beloved wife⊠I happened to read that.â
âIâm a little relieved that the second prince is so decently oriented, though.â
He continued to mutter that he was amazed that I longed for such a thing; it made me realize that there was no such thing as a happy marriage. As I looked down, my chin was lifted.
âI did say âlikeableâ..â
His red eyes were fixed on me and I saw my boring and ordinary face reflected on them in every way.
T/N: âexpertâ, I think you guys already know the meaning right? So I will just leave it without a note. The prince really a white lotus. ? Happy reading!
And Thanks for waiting! Actually I didnât want to split this chapter, but it just too long so I decided to split it. Anyway we really appreciated it if you guys could leave us a review or rating on NU. Also consider supporting on us Ko-fi so we can release more faster. Thank you!
