FLFO – Chapter 65 – The Sorciere Girl

I woke up in the morning and started digging for ore.

Since my «Mining» skill has evolved into its secondary «Mining» skill I can now mine two ores at a time. And perhaps because of the increased skill level, the chance of Magic Iron appearing has also increased. It’s rather delicious. I’m happy.

My combat skills also improved during yesterday afternoons mining. It seems that basic secondary skills will learn new arts and magic up to level 30, while the previous skills are strengthened from 35.

«High-Class Magic Ability» is now at 35, but everyday life magic is more efficient as a result. In other words, it is not a huge benefit. The overall effectiveness increases with the skill level though, so I suppose it is better than nothing…

«Magic Catalyst» gave [Magic Stance] at level 20. The magic attack power increases, while magic defence decreases. [Magic Stance] may be okay.

«Luminous Magic» learned [Lumen Ray], so now I can fire lasers.

Right, I’m done with digging, so let’s have breakfast.

After finishing my morning activities, I promptly log back in. What should I do today?

…Let’s make some magic clay for now. I leave the detached palace to collect some soil and water.

And after collecting some, return to the palace and head to the alchemy room to buff myself while crafting some magic clay. Use Pure soil, Water of Recollection and try Orbs instead of magic stones.

…… Well, let’s just say it’s a self-destruction. It’s a shame that the reason for it is my own lack of skill. My HP keeps on dropping while I craft.

I’ve made about 25 Magic Clay and have 32 Orbs left. There are also 20 Clear Orbs now.

Using Orbs for production is pretty extravagant, isn’t it? Magic stones are rare drops though, so it’s nice to have a free alternative.

Hmmm…For now, I will make 2 ingots from 8 Magic Iron ores. Then convert them into Almandine Magic Iron. This makes three in total, so if I give it to Ertz-san he can turn them into a one-handed weapon.

I ask the clerk to call Ertz-san.

“Would you like to process it?” I asked to Ertz-san when he came out, and handed him the slightly red iron ingot.

“Mace it is. I’ll get on it right away.”

Even if you say one-handed hammer, there are several shapes. The spikey ball-like morningstar, a simple hammer, and a mace.

The simpler the shape, the higher the durability…apparently. More specifically, even if the displayed value is the same 100, that of a two-handed sword is different from that of a fine sword. The 100 from slashing with a blade is also different from the 100 of defending without one.

The durability in this game is all displayed as percentages, and depending on how you use something it can break. In other words, it’s probably better to say that the simpler it is, the harder it is to break.

Weapons are used for attacking and armour for defending. If you use the appropriate thing in the appropriate way durability loss will be less. Therefore guarding with a weapon is risky if it fails. You need to learn to do it well without relying on arts.

It will take some time to make, so I’ll sell some Vanadium and Molybdenum to the clerk and replenish my pickaxes.

Magic clay has a high price per unit, but it is not very efficient. The other items can be made in multiples, but the clay has to be made one at a time.

To be honest, the money making efficiency of jerky is out of this world. You can make 60 pieces from a single piece of meat. It’s certainly a pain to make, but is worth it.
