A cooing sound suddenly sounded beside his ear. It said, “Princess, princess. Are you still angry?”
“Zhan Lue did it for your own good. Can you forgive him for the sake of my beauty?”
Xian Sheng’s gaze landed on the self-proclaimed beautiful snow dove and replied emotionlessly, “What are you? How dare you dictate my decisions?”
The “dove” went silent for a while before saying, “Actually, Zhan Lue’s action was for Princess’ own sake. He was worried that you’d feel unconfident.”
“Then can you sleep with Zhan Lue tonight?”
“Let him dream on.” Xian Sheng took the dove into the room and closed the windows.
Placing the dove on the plate, he said, “Continue speaking.”
Xian Sheng humphed. After shedding his gown, he climbed onto the bed and wrapped himself up with the blanket. After a while, he turned around and looked at the dove on the plate. Suddenly, he could not control himself and laughed. After laughing, he felt ridiculous again. He was so angry earlier—why did he suddenly become happy again?
His rationality forced him to revert to a poker-face.
The temperature in the room caused the snow dove to melt. After looking at it for a while, Xian Sheng felt a tinge of regret.
Although Zhan Lue Lue was not a good guy, his handiwork was not bad. Xian Sheng wondered from which master ice sculptor he learned his craft from.
He opened the windows again and climbed onto the chair. He stuck his neck out and looked around. After making sure that Zhan Lue was not hiding at the side, he took out the plate with the snow dove and placed it outside the window. He even put the dove’s fallen beak back in place carefully.
However, he was not as skillful with his hands as Zhan Lue. No matter how he placed it, it looked very ugly.
Xian Sheng looked at it from the left and right. He was about to leave it like that when the dove’s eyes fell off. He paused and gently blew his palms. Picking up the eyeballs, he pressed them back clumsily.
Around the corner of the wall, Zhan Lue’s brain poked out. Coincidentally, he saw everything that Xian Sheng did. He crossed his hands over his chest and thought: His actions are completely different from his real thoughts.
At the other side, Xian Sheng had released his hand before the other eyeball dropped out. He finally withdrew his frozen hands and let out a breath of relief, as he watched as the lively pigeon became a plate of “pigeon soup”.
“He’s tormenting me. And you‘re tormenting me too,” complained Xian Sheng. He could not stand it any longer and closed the windows. Hugging his hand warmer, he dove into his blankets again.
He did not care where Zhan Lue slept. Anyway, Zhan Lue would never freeze as long as he is in the Crown Palace.
He was sleeping peacefully when he felt someone pushing him in the middle of the night. “Princess?”
It was Yue Hua’s voice. Xian Sheng was so tired that he could barely lift his eyelids. He asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
“The Crown Prince is still standing at the entrance. The winters in Northern Liang are harsher than Southern Liang’s. What if he falls ill from the cold?”
“Why is he standing there….”
“He said that the Princess prohibited him from entering,” said Yue Hua, placed in a difficult situation. “We are in Northern Jin. Princess… Let him come in first.”
Xian Sheng frowned and his mind started to clear. Yue Hua was placed in a difficult situation because this was a private matter between a married couple. It was unsuitable for her to meddle with it. But no matter what happened, this was Northern Jin. He, as the Princess of Liang, had chased the Crown Prince of Northern Jin out of the door. Those who understood would know that it was just a disagreement between the couple. However, for those who did not, there might be rumours spread about him being a pampered and arrogant person. It was Yue Hua’s responsibility to remind Xian Sheng.
