âTargets locked. Awaiting further instructions.â
âWe still canât confirm if theyâre the enemy. All units, stay alert. As long as they do anything suspicious, shoot them and the disguised medic team will drag them out ASAP.â
âYes, sir!â
All of the enemies Xiang Ning had identified through his Combat Instinct were instantly targeted. Some of them with sharper senses noticed something was wrong and started leaving.... But their every move was watched. The moment they tried to leave, the only thing that awaited them was a few-days stay in Marsh Cityâs prison.
......
Five minutes later, Annot was just a few steps away from the main stage. The lights suddenly dimmed and she hurried on stage. She turned and looked at Xiang Ning with a small smile and said something, but he couldnât hear her. The crowd cried in surprise as the stadium darkened.
However, during those few short seconds, the enemies who noticed that something was wrong had already informed their teammates. The moment the stadium turned dark, they knew it was their chance and quickly turned to leave. But they had only just stood up when they were shot with sedative bullets strong enough to incapacitate a tier four martial artist. Without a sound, they all fell back into their seats as if they were under a spell.
The soldiers disguised as medics moved quickly.
When the lights turned on, the entire stadium was stunned for a second, then erupted into deafening screams and cheers. A projection of the show slowly appeared outside, much to the excitement of the people waiting there.
......
Even sitting in the front row seat, Xiang Xiaoyu hadnât been affected by Annotâs looks. She was looking in all directions in search of her brother, but unfortunately, he was in his Heavenâs Key armor with Disguise activated. Right now, he had on a look much different from the disguise heâd worn at Fortress Three.
Xiang Xiaoyuâs out-of-the-ordinary behavior was noticed by the surveillance team.
âSnipers, please stay alert. Thereâs a suspicious target in the front row VIP seats.â
âYes, sir!â
She never sensed their attention on her, but the surveillance team wasnât the only one who noticed her odd behavior. A middle-aged man next to her pushed his glasses up and looked at her with a friendly smile. âHey kid, whatâre you looking for?â
While she was disappointed because she couldnât find Xiang Ning, she still smiled politely at the man. âIâm looking for a friend, he says heâs nearby.â
The man smiled, nodded, and pushed his glasses up. âStay still, kid. Youâve already attracted attention, and if you move anymore, you might be attacked.â
âHuh?â
During the short conversation, the crowd had recovered, including Chen Zixin, who was sitting next to her, and another thin boy named Liang Yuanhao. When she heard the odd conversation between Xiang Xiaoyu and the man, Chen Zixin tugged on her arm and asked, âDo you know that man? Did he say something to you?â
âUh, I donât know him, but donât worry, I was just looking for someone just now. I mightâve disturbed him.â She shook her head and, after some thought, decided not to tell Chen Zixin what the man had said.
The corner of the manâs lips curved up when he heard that and he pushed his glasses up as he took a small card out from his pocket. It was half as tall as a phone and three fingers wide. It looked exquisite and was made of some unknown light, yet durable material.
âYouâre very cute, kid. Iâd like to give you a gift, I hope youâll accept it.â
Chen Zixin frowned. Before theyâd come to the stadium, her parents had told her not to easily trust anyone, and not to take anything from anyone.
It was easy to read a childâs mind from their expression. The man smiled. âItâs fine, this is just a nice ornament. Iâm not from Marsh City and you remind me of my daughter. Itâs alright if you donât like it.â
The man was still as friendly as ever, but Xiang Xiaoyu still shook her head and refused it. She felt like taking something from others was wrong, especially since it looked expensive. She wasnât going to take it.
The man smiled and kept the card. âSigh, I didnât manage to impress you. Alright, the concertâs starting. Is this your first time?â
âYes, itâs our first time.â
âAlright, you should enjoy it as best you can, then.â The manâs words were slightly strange.
......
Xiang Xiaoyu was still being watched.
âSir, weâve investigated the girl sitting in the front row VIP seat. Sheâs a year one, lower secondary student from Marsh City and isnât the target weâre looking for. However, we also checked the man talking to her. Heâs from Azura and is named Ronan. Heâs a tier five martial artist, a higher threat.â
âWatch him. Alert JT about him. If anything happens, stall him and wait for reinforcements.
âYes, sir!â
JT was the pseudonym Xiang Ning had given himself. Other than a few limited people, no one knew his true identity. All they knew was that he was a tier four martial artist and was about eighteen years old. The people who knew him were ordered to remain silent about his identity or face consequences.
Although they were frustrated, they followed orders because it would be dangerous to expose his identity. It was a critical mission.
JT, aka Xiang Ning, slowly slipped further into the crowd after hearing the order. His Disguise skill was at its most effective in crowded places like this.
When he walked out of the crowd, his armor was gone and he had turned into a sunny young man in his twenties. He wore an usherâs uniform that showed he was in charge of maintaining order.
He looked around as if he was on patrol. No one would care about a staff member on patrol, so he quickly arrived at the front row. To be honest, he almost lost control of himself when he saw that the man identified as a threat was sitting next to his little sister, but forced himself to remain calm.
He breezily walked over, then stood at an evacuation walkway nearby, silently watching his sister like a guardian angel.
Of course, he also didnât forget his job.
Doge & Chacha's Thoughts
You dare touch MC's little sister? Trying to implicate her with your 'gifts' huh?
