âYouâre Spaced out, whatâs wrong? âŚIs there something wrong⌠Maybe itâs my hair? Itâs different from what I normally do, so maybe itâs weird.â
âNo, thatâs not itâŚâ
I canât say tell her.
I canât tell her that I was speechless because I was so mesmerizedâŚ
I gently turned away from Rin, who tilted her head curiously.
âIs that so? But, umâŚâ
âYeah?â
âDoes it⌠look good?â
âOh, um⌠Yeah, thatâs right. Thatâs⌠you see, the reactions around you speak for themselves.â
âIâm asking Towa-kun, right?â
Her clear, unclouded eyes stared straight at me.
It looked like a dog glistening in anticipation of something.
Iâm at a loss for words, and Kenichi and Fuji-san are standing silently near me, as if theyâre watching what happens.
They seemed to be waiting for me to say something.
ââŚIt looks good on you. Like everything else does⌠ouch!â
âWhatâs with that compliment? It sounds like you donât want to say it! You should have said, âYouâre as beautiful as a diamond.
âThatâs ⌠I wonder if itâs true âŚâ
I took a chop to the head and glared at the handsome bastard while rubbing my head.
This stupidity⌠it really hurts you knowâŚ
I mean, donât ask me to say anything witty or exciting.
âHey, Kotone, please say something. To this disappointing man.â
ââŚKenichi, look. There seems to be no problem.â
âHmm? âŚAh, I see.â
âEhehe ~, he said I looked good~â
ââŚRin is a positive thinker. She seems to have no problem with what Tokiwagi-kun says.
âThis must be what a maiden in love looks like.â
â⌠Rin, really is cute.â
The two of them are talking to each other, ignoring me as I hold my head and crouch down.
I hear a lot of conversations that concern meâŚ
âŚWell, anyway, I guess that means it wasnât a problem, right?
âWell, letâs go then! We already have designated spot for the parasol, so letâs hurry up and drop off our stuff!â
ââŚYeah. Iâll get ready quickly.â
I put a cold water bottle on my head, stood up and tried to follow Kenichi walking in front of me.
As soon as I did, I felt the stares from the people around me become more intense.
My body temperature seemed to have dropped a bit.
Oh, I see.
Well, itâs natural âŚ
The surrounding gaze.
It was a gaze that I had felt many times before.
âWhy are you there?â
âYouâre out of place!â
âIsnât there too big of a difference?â
Itâs as if thatâs what they were trying to convey.
This is the same no matter where I go.
It canât be helpedâŚ
Itâs a fact that simply canât be changed.
Iâve already given up inside.
So itâs not hard, and itâs not uncomfortable at all.
But thatâs just me.
Anyone other than me who was involved would feel uncomfortable.
Just because they happened to be around me, they would be looked at strangely and would be under fire.
Thatâs something Iâm not willing to do.
Itâs simply uncomfortable to think that someone whoâs a good guy is going to have his reputation tarnished just because heâs with a low tier guy like me.
And at the same time⌠I am sorry.
âSo itâs the same as usual.
When I feel this gaze, I just fade out naturally, as if I were air.
I tried to keep a distance from those threeâ
âTowa-kun! Come on, letâs go!â
I was a little surprised to hear Rinâs cheerful voice, which I had never heard before. I let out a stupid âehâ sound.
Like the voice a sleepy person wakes up with.
Even though she wasnât near me when she called out, âŚher voice was the only one that made itâs way into my ear, even amidst the buzz of other patrons.
She took a quick glance around with a slightly pouting expression, and then tangled her arm around mine.
And rather forcefully, at that.
Her skin is directly against my arm, and I can feel the warm heat and soft feeling directly.
If my mind hadnât been buzzing strangely, I might have gotten a nosebleed.
âUh, âŚRin? âŚWhat are you doing?â
âWellâŚâ
âYes?â
âI felt that if I left you alone, you would wander off and go somewhere else. Iâm trying not to let you get swept awayâŚâ
âNo, people donât get blown away that easily, okay?â
âIf it Towa-kun⌠than it could be possible.â
âJust how do you see meâŚ?â
I shook my arm lightly to release her, but Rin stubbornly refused to let go.
Ah, good grief.
Sheâs looking at me even more sharply now.
Her suspicious gaze has turned into one with murderous intent.
âHey! What are you doing? Stop flirting and get over here!â
From a parasol some distance away, Kenichi waved his hand at us.
Beside him, Fuji-san made a small beckoning motion.
I huffed and let out a small breath.
âLetâs get going then,âŚâ
âOkay.â
âBy the way, is their an option where you let go of my arm?â
âOf course not.â
âRight â âŚâ
I smiled at Rin, who was still the same as ever.
The stares from the people around me were still cold.
But strangely enough, I felt a warm feeling.
TL note: I unofficially started Medical school about 3 weeks ago and itâs more of a shock than I excepted. My initial goal with this series was to have a stock of chapters that I could release biweekly, however because of many external factors I was unable to do so. As of today, I will be officially dropping this series. I welcome anyone who would like to translate this series to do so. If no one picks up the series in the coming months, then Iâll try to get organized with a few people to try and ease up the time spent working on each chapter.
I may translate other works in the future, but they will definitely shorter projects that I know I can complete with a small-time investment.
Thanks, you for all of the support that you have all given me in the past few months, I really appreciate those of you who took the time to like or comment, it more motivating to see then you would think.
