Valletta closed her eyes on the bed and let out a ragged breath. Then the pain disappeared as if someone had just stopped squeezing the bead.
âItâs gone.â
âYou b*stardâŚ.â
Rainhard chuckled as he watched Valletta casually spit out the harsh words. She didnât usually swear.
He slowly swept her disheveled bangs.
âNow remove the engraved mark immediately.â
âIâm sorry, itâs justâŚ..It was engraved with a gain stronger than me.â
Vallettaâs eyes widened at Reinhardtâs words. Where in the world could there be an existence more powerful than the Magic Tower Lord? His entourage, Ceylon, seemed to be surprised by this as well.
âMaster, I canât believe itâs stronger than youâŚ.â
Valletta jumped to her feet. She grabbed Reinhardtâs collar. She realized for the first time how terrible the pain was. This was how Reinhardt must have felt when she first met him.
Valletta shivered with fear. She would rather be stabbed once by a sword and die. But she didnât want to shudder at the pain that might come at any moment.
âYou âŚâŚ!â
Reinhardt laid his hand on the back of Vallettaâs hand, which had grabbed his collar so hard that it turned white.
âIâll get this sorted out soon.â
âYouâre putting my heart in the hands of a stranger and telling me to do this?â
Reinhardtâs brows narrowed. If the engraved part wasnât the heart, he would have used other methods, but it was the heart of all things. Even a small mistake would make her stop breathing. The heart was a sensitive and important part of the body. That was why he couldnât touch it carelessly.
Reinhardt slowly stood up. It seemed that he had to learn the magic circle first.
âThis is not the time to be foolish.â
The killing spirit fell from the red eyes of Reinhardt, who lowered his feet to the ground.
âDare to mess with someone you shouldnât mess with.â
The imperial family was the opponent for sure, but there were one or two strange things lined up behind him. Basically, there couldnât be any wizard stronger than the Magic Tower Lord. However, since it was a magic that has developed over a long period of time, there could have been another way behind it if it was clearly out of the norm.
âIâve been involved with you and nothing good has come of it.â
Gritting her teeth, Valletta buried her face in her palms and mumbled. Reinhardt, who was putting on a robe, stopped moving. Without replying, he pulled the hood over his head.
âIâll protect you. Iâve never hurt you.â
âThatâs interesting. What about the day of the massacre?â
âThatâs a bit of an exception. You said you were surprised.â
Valletta sighed at the sound of Reinhardtâs laughter. When Reinhardt lightly hit the floor, the Magic circle spread angrily.
âYou can go home now. You said you resigned from the magic tower, but you donât have to stay with me. Iâve already moved half of my stuff over there, so âŚâŚ.â
She was just going to have to deal with him for a while. It hadnât occurred to her that she had lost her necklace. She was so distracted by the behavior that she couldnât even think of the necklace.
âMy homeâŚâ
On his way to leave the mansion, he heard Vallettaâs low voice, and Reinhardt slowly turned his gaze and looked at Valletta, who was bowing her head. Reinhardtâs expression darkened.
âYou âŚâŚ you remember what I said back then?â
âI remember everything you said. One day, Master and I will have a place where we can fold our wings and rest.â
There will be a place where they can rest. They, who had never rested because there were so many things they were born with. There were so many reaching hands that wanted to choke them.
âWhat about Roast?
âOh, that.â
Valletta put her bare feet on the marble. She reached across the desk, pulled something out of her bag, opened it to the middle page and held it out to Reinhardt.
âIt appears to be some sort of alchemy, but it may not.â
Valletta pressed her thumb firmly on her temple. She had been doing some experiments. After some experimentation, she realized that it was possible to create a similar potion, though not exactly the same. However, no matter how much she thought about it, she couldnât make it exactly the same. It didnât make sense to take away an unspecified number of things.
âWhat I know now is that if Roast does alchemy, the formula used in it will progressively⌠âŚSo itâs to the extent that itâs a composite alchemy where diverse alchemical formulas are combined.â
âHmmmâŚâ
âAnd there are at least four more formulas used, and all we know so far is that they are about hardening, corrosion, erosion, and weathering.â
Reinhardt nodded, looking at the various alchemical formulas that filled the notebook.
âBut what if itâs different?â
âItâs complicated, different parts, different symptoms. Itâs rather easy to do magic with these things.â
âAnyway, youâre so smart. I guess thatâs why more people want you so badly.â
âDid you start yesterday?â
âNo, I started two days ago. I didnât have enough detailed informationâŚâŚI wish I could see the people dying from the disease.â
âThat would certainly be a good way to get information.â
The eyes of Barrio Baloxis, who was listening to what was being said, were tinged with astonishment. He could see a little why Quilt and Ceylon said they had their own world.
How can someone so smart have such a low capacity for empathy? There was something odd about the two of them casually mentioning the death of others. And that was not all. As with the Magic circle, âcreationâ was the most difficult task for a wizard. Creating a new magic formula or a new magic circle was never an easy task. But even more difficult than that was the task of tracking backwards the formulas of the magic circles that were created.
âIt could be a magic circle, so you should check it out too.â
âI got it.â
âIf it is a magic circle, it will take some time to solve everything, but then we will know how to destroy it. So what about you?â
âI remembered that it was an ancient magic circle that destroyed the building.â
In response to Vallettaâs question, Reinhardt chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. As a result of moving his mind while listening to the boring story yesterday, he was able to recall the ancient magic circle buried in his old memory.
âItâs a magic circle Iâve seen for a while, and itâs going to take a while to recover itâŚ.If itâs the kind of magic that seals magic, the range will be small enough that we should be able to find it quickly.â
âWhat happened to the attack on the village that you committed?â
âThatâs⌠Iâm not sure no matter how much I think about it, so Iâll have to look around first.â
Reinhardt said, stroking his chin. The shadows that hung beneath the hood made his eyes look even murkier. Valletta could tell that he wasnât feeling well.
âI donât know who dared to steal my thingsâŚ.â
Reinhardtâs eyes warped beautifully. It was a perfect smile, not even a wrinkle.
âIf I ever see him, Iâll rip off his limbs and feed them to the dog.â
âAnd the tower is your seat. Think again.â
ââŚâŚ.â
Reinhardt stared at her silently for a moment as her words. Then he looked at the three people gathered in silence and shrugged.
âTake care of yourself. Now that theyâve taken the card you were holding, theyâll be moving in earnest over there.â
âArenât you and I both skilled at surviving crazy people?â
Reinhardt let out a low chuckle at Vallettaâs indifferent words. He moved his shoulders for a moment as if he was happy, and then smiled brightly.
He quickly moved closer and kissed Vallettaâs forehead.
âIâll be back.â
âYou donât have to come.â
âAnother sad comment.â
The magic circle on the floor lit up.
âYou may leave.â
With one last look at Quilt and Ceylon, Reinhardt gave the order and disappeared in the blink of an eye with the swarm of light. Looking at the remains of the vanished magic circle, Valletta let out a low sigh.
