It takes about 10 minutes to walk to school while looking at Yusha’s pink two-side up hair swaying. Now, the Hero Academy’s come into view.\n
Yusha hums. “Let’s do our best from today, Lily!”\n
I hum back. “You too, Yusha!”\n
We go to the classroom in a good mood. Huh? If I keep going like this, I’ll be able to get along fantastically with Yusha… no, I shouldn’t rush. There’s nothing good that comes from being impatient with love.\n
Shilde and Hira are already seated when we arrived. My temporary party member. I’m looking forward to the training this afternoon.\n
“Good morning, Shilde, Hira!” Yusha greets.\n
“Oh, morning,” Shilde mutters, sleepy.\n
“G-Good morning!” Hira stammers.\n
The two of them contrast each other.\n
“It’s all lectures starting in the morning…” Shilde mutters, “I just want to train all the time.”\n
“Shilde, studying is important!” Yusha says with a smug face.1 One cowlick is proudly standing up from her two-side up hair. Cute…\n
“You’re also good at studying, Yusha…” Shilde says. “Hira, Lily, what about you two?”\n
“I’m worried I’ll struggle with it…”\n
“O-Oh, I’m not very good at… that.”\n
“2 for 2?” Yusha said. “No problem! Let’s just have a study session before the test?”\n
“Oh, that’s fun! Let’s do it!” Shilde cries.\n
Shilde is completely on-board with this plan and Yusha is excited. I don’t really mind who I’m paired up with… well, so long as Yusha is still there.\n
While we were talking about studying, the teacher came into our classroom. Is class starting already?”\n
“Let’s begin Lecture 1: History Class,” they say. “We begin with the history leading up to the current conflict between the Salvation Army and the Demon King’s army.”\n
The Salvation Army… humans just call it the “army”. The force that will save the world… their soldiers have to have a lot of ambition.\n
“In the olden days, the battle began 500 years ago, and rages on to this day…”\n
The teacher’s lecture is already ingrained in my head. It’s easy for me to grasp this basic level of education though I don’t consider it something to be proud of, as I was educated as a Demon King’s Daughter.\n
Yusha… listens attentively while taking notes. She’s serious about this.\n
Hira… is also listening attentively like Yusha but looks flustered.\n
Shilde… it’s been five minutes since the lecture began but she’s already asleep?! She’s given up studying right from the get-go…\n
I wonder if it’s okay for our party to be on so many different tracks… I’m getting worried.\n
After the lectures in the morning, it’s time for lunch. I think the only thing I didn’t learn in the Demon World was the magic that humans use. It’d be a good reference to learning how to move forward in the future.\n
“Let’s eat lunch together!”\n
It’s a lovely invitation from Yusha.\n
“Yes. Of course,” I say. “Let’s eat as a party.”\n
Yusha hums. “Hey, Shilde, get up! Hira, come here! Let’s go, let’s go!”\n
“Yeah, yeah…” Shilde grumbles.\n
“I-If you insist…” Hira whispers.\n
Yusha looks like a mother herding her kids. Thanks to her, there’s already a festive mood in the air…\n
If the party was just me, Shilde, and Hira… I was horrified just thinking about it.\n
“Ah! Lily’s lunchbox is so cute!” Yusha says.\n
“Thank you, I like it, too,” I say. “Yours is cute too, isn’t it, Yusha? Did you make it?”\n
“Yep!” Yusha says. “I’ve got confidence in my cooking!”\n
Yusha’s is a girlish lunch box. Mine is… a lunch that took a lot of work. I get the sense that this took hours to make. Thank you, Ascena.\n
Hira is a similarly cute lunch box. Shilde’s is a “macho meal” of three over-sized rice balls. Is there even any personality in hers?\n
“Hey, how long do you plan on eating!?” a teacher asked. “The practical training will start soon!”\n
We lost track of time while we were talking, now lunch is almost over!\n
“Meet me in the training room!” they continue. “If you’re late, you’re doing 10 laps around the grounds!”\n
I balk at that. “Everyone… let’s hurry!”\n
Hira and Yusha let out a battle cry and follow suit.\n
Thanks to the common belief that no one likes a Punishment Game, it feels like everyone’s on the same page for the first time. On a related note… practical training, I have to be careful but I’m still looking forward to it. I wonder just what everyone is capable of…\n
