Kang Oh encountered a Tuslam Warrior, who was far stronger than an ordinary Tuslam.
[You have discovered Tuslamâs Descendent, Warrior Amun.]
Amun wielded a different sized axe in either hand. The larger axe was double-bladed, while the smaller one was single-bladed.
As soon as he sensed Kang Ohâs presence, he threw his axe at him.
This was the Tuslamâs pride and joy!
The axe arced like a swooping eagle, flying straight at Kang Oh. Kang Oh, with Blood and Sarahoff in his hands, threw himself out of the way.
The space heâd occupied had been razed. The explosion created a giant crater in the ground, and pieces of the ruins and dirt flew into the air.
This was the Tuslamsâ secret move, Weapon Bombardment.
However, Kang Oh had already experienced this move before, so he reacted to it calmly. He kicked off the floor and quickly charged at Amun.
Amun manipulated his thrown axe, causing it to fly at Kang Oh from behind. Kang Ohâs Hyper Intuition allowed him to dodge it without issue. Then, he swung Sarahoff.
âHuahp!â Amun swung his larger axe.
Amunâs double-bladed axe was made out of dark red metal. This metal was called Cardium, and could only be found in a cave that existed deep within the Great Forestâs central region.
Their weapons clashed, emitting a loud âclangâ. However, Amunâs axe released a dark red powder.
Upon contact, Kang Ohâs purple blade hissed and emitted smoke as if it were meat being cooked on the grill.
This was Cardiumâs special ability. If struck by a hard enough force, it released a powder as hot as lava!
Kang Oh avoided the powder and backed off.
âIâm not letting you go anywhere!â Amun immediately rushed at him and forcefully swung his axe.
Kang Ohâs eyes gleamed, and he softly swung Blood.
Amunâs double-bladed axe slid off of Bloodâs snow-white blade.
Kang Oh aimed for Amunâs neck within the slowed world.
His purple blade struck Amunâs neck.
âUgh.â Amun grimaced in pain. However, Kang Oh found himself doing the same.
Amunâs axe had clashed with Blood, releasing dark red powder that burned Kang Ohâs body.
âYou bastard!â Amun pounced like a tiger and swung his axe.
âDie!â Kang Oh counterattacked with Blood.
Repeated âclangsâ resounded throughout the ruins.
Kang Oh and Amunâs battle continued.
âHoo.â Kang Oh, assuming his Frostblood Demon form, stared at Warrior Amunâs corpse and took a deep breath.
âI canât break the warriorsâ weapons.â Kang Oh stared at Amunâs double-bladed axe, which he hadnât let go of till the very end, and made a mental note.
The Tuslam Warriors could use a skill called âFighting Spirit Veilâ. Amun was no exception.
Once his weapon began to crack, Amun used the skill to protect his weapon from Sarahoffâs Absolute Destruction.
By coating it in fighting spirit, the Tuslam Warriors were able to prevent Sarahoff from actually making contact with their weapons. Thus, Kang Oh wasnât able to break Amunâs axe.
However, Sarahoffâs other ability, âFrost Demonâs Domainâ worked without a hitch. It reduced the opponentâs core temperature, thereby reducing all of their abilities!
As their fierce battle continued, Frost Demonâs Domain slowly weakened Amun. When he was sure of his victory, Kang Oh transformed into the Frostblood Demon and finished him off.
âHuh?â Kang Oh, who deactivated Devil Trigger, saw something shining atop Amunâs body.
A token carried by the warriors of the legendary Tuslam Tribe. It is a symbol of strength.
There was a fixed chance that itâd drop if you defeated a Tuslam Warrior. But Kang Oh didnât know what it was used for.
âI suppose Iâll find a place for it eventually.â Kang Oh pocketed the token and moved on.
He kept fighting again and again.
Kang Oh wasnât satisfied with a single Tuslam anymore. Heâd fight two, three, or even four at once.
The Tuslam Warriors never gathered in groups. They were solitary existences like cranes.
To Kang Oh, however, they were extremely nutritious prey. Defeating a Tuslam Warrior in single combat yielded an extraordinary amount of experience and proficiency.
Of course, he didnât win every single time. Some of the Tuslam Warriors were much stronger than the rest. They were the Veteran Warriors. Their strength was the real deal.
His current record versus them was 4 wins, 6 losses. If he werenât so lucky, then he wouldâve died six times already!
In any case, Kang Oh lived dangerously day by day in order to complete Valanâs quest.
He also tried to figure out what that scream was too. However, Talastrum was such a huge place that he hadnât found out much.
âIâll have to make a quick trip to Altein.â
His belt was completely empty. He was so focused on hunting that he hadnât realized that he had run out of health potions.
He would also need to go to a blacksmith and repair his weapons too.
Kang Oh ripped a return scroll and teleported back to Altein.
He exited Alteinâs intercity transfer gate and entered a secluded alleyway. However, an unwelcome guest suddenly popped out.
âKang Oh,â the woman said. She wore red robes and a mask engraved with a scorpion.
Kang Oh was currently wearing normal clothes so that he wouldnât stand out. However, this person had seen right through him.
No, itâd be more correct to say that sheâd been looking for him.
The unwelcome guest took off her mask, revealing a familiar face.
She was both a Poison Mage, and one of Red Moonâs top executives!
Kang Ohâs eyes gleamed.
âJust my luck!â There was a huge bounty on her head. âYouâre mine!â
Kang Oh instantly used Switch and cleaved through her with his demon swords. However, something bizarre happened. Sword marks appeared on her body, and then promptly disappeared. It felt like he was cutting water.
âIt wonât work. This is just a copy created out of poison,â Scapiâs poison copy said.
A copy couldnât operate far from the original. If thatâs the case, then Scapi should be somewhere close!
Kang Oh immediately looked around. However, he didnât see her anywhere.
âIs she hiding somewhere?â
âWhat do you want?â Kang Oh asked.
âI have an offer for you.â
âAn offer?â Kang Oh replied, ready to strike her down at a momentâs notice.
âWhat?â Kang Ohâs eyes widened. âDid I mishear you?â
âIâd like to⌠hire you!â Scapi repeated.
That had come out of nowhere.
Murderer Red had given Scapi one single task: do whatever it took to bring Kang Oh before him!
She was locked in thought. How the hell was she supposed to bring Kang Oh to him!? After all, all four of the Heavenly Kings were no match for Kang Oh.
Realistically speaking, there was no way she could bring Kang Oh to the Shadow World.
âShould I lure him in?â
However, luring him in wouldnât be easy. Considering how great Kang Ohâs combat abilities were, itâd have to be perfect. Otherwise, sheâd be captured. If that happenedâŚ
Sheâd rot in jail like the other Heavenly Kings.
At the same time, she couldnât afford to disregard Redâs command. If she didnât do as she was told, then Red would exile her from the Shadow World.
If she was exiled from Red Moon, her only safe haven, then thereâd be no place for her but jail.
Scapi was in between a rock and a hard place. She thought about how sheâd go about her task, but Red eventually gave her an ultimatum.
âYou have a week. Bring him here by then. Otherwise⌠you know whatâll happen, right?â
âYou donât care what I do to bring him here?â
âEven if I have to betray you?â
âThereâs no loyalty between us. Just bring him here. Do whatever it takes!â
âHow do I bring him here?â
âSo?â Kang Oh asked. He and her poison copy were staring at each other within the secluded alleyway.
âAs Iâve explained, I have to bring you to Red. No matter what! But Iâm not strong enough to bring you there by force, so Iâll hire you instead.â Scapi then pulled out two dried out pieces of paper.
One of them was definitely a gold scroll, which contained a certain sum of money.
âItâs 100,000 gold. I made it by doing all sorts of nasty stuff.â Scapi waved the gold scroll.
100,000 gold. In terms of Korean currency, it was the equivalent of 300 million won ($300,000 USD). Kang Ohâs eyes followed the gold scroll as it shook.
âAnd this is everything I know about Red!â Scapi waved the other scroll too.
âIf you put Red in jail, then Iâll give you 100,000 gold. Ah, and do you happen to know how much Red is worth?â
â100,000 gold,â Kang Oh replied immediately. The Worst Criminal and Murderer, Red, was definitely worth 100,000 gold.
âExactly. So youâd be making 200,000 gold,â Scapi said.
â200,000 gold, huhâŚâ
Kang Oh was enticed by her offer. After all, it was like she said; he would be making â200,000 goldâ!
âIf you accept my offer, then Iâll make it so that you can fight Red one-on-one. You wonât be interrupted by anyone. Of course, if you want me to sign a Sabraâs Contract, then I can do that too. You can add a clause that states that I canât betray you too,â Scapi said.
âWhat do you gain from all this?â Kang Oh asked.
âIf you put Red in jail, then Red Moon will become mine. All of my competitors have been either exiled or put in jail, so Iâm number 2. If you lose, then Iâll have completed Redâs task and I wonât lose my entire fortune.â
âSo either way works for you. After all, if you become leader of Red Moon, then youâll make far more than 100,000 gold.â
Red Moon made a ton of money via their assassination contracts. If Scapi became the leader of Red Moon, then that money would fall into her hands.
âSo Iâd appreciate it if you accepted my request.â
âThen Iâll have no choice but to take revenge.â
âRevenge? Then do it.â
Kang Oh wasnât afraid of her in the least.
âDo you know how I was able to find you?â Scapi asked.
âI donât think you were following meâŚâ
âI have an item that lets me know exactly where you are. There are rumors that the Empire Guild is just waiting to kill you. Should I tell them where you are?â
Thatâd be pretty annoying. Especially if Dukeram came looking for him. He wasnât confident that he could beat him yet.
âIf you accept my offer, then Iâll add a clause in the Sabraâs Contract stating that I wonât use my tracking item on you again.â
Kang Oh was confident that heâd be able to beat Red in a one-on-one fight. Moreover, he was enticed by the potential 200,000 gold.
âItâs 200,000 gold for godâs sake!â
In other words, there was 600 million won ($600,000 USD) at stake!
âIâll⌠accept your offer.â
The copy melted into a puddle of poison, and from there, Scapiâs true body came out.
âLetâs write the contract, shall we?â Scapi waved a Sabraâs Contract.
