The expedition force safely returned to the hideout. Of course, not all of them had returned. Twelve Dwarven Warriors had lost their lives.
It pained them to lose eight of their brothers to Magniumâs explosion. Although they were saddened by the loss of their brothers, they held a party to celebrate their success.
The dwarves lit Phamas Cigars, drank Phamas Beer, and partied rowdily. Kang Oh and Eder were treated like VIPs.
âKuu, thank you for allowing us to drink Phamas Beer again, Lord Orgon,â Randelhoff said, downing a huge glass of beer.
The Blacksmith God, Orgon, was worshipped by the dwarves and those who handled metal.
Randelhoff bowed at Kang Oh and Eder. âIâd like to thank you again. Youâre the reason we came out of this alive.â
âIt was nothing,â Eder replied modestly.
âIf youâre that thankful, then please fulfill my request,â Kang Oh said. This was his chance.
âRequest?â
âYes. Please make me a sword.â
âMm.â Randelhoff was lost in thought.
The Black Hammer Dwarves had sworn an oath; they would never again build weapons/armor for an outsider. Thus, they should rightfully reject Kang Ohâs request. However, Kang Oh was their savior. If thatâs the case, then it was only right that they return the favor.
âChieftain, letâs just make it for him,â one dwarf suddenly stood up and said. It was Bedrock, one of the dwarves that Kang Oh had saved.
âWe swore an oath. The Black Hammer Dwarves cannot work for an outsider!â Book, whose left eye was covered with an eye patch, said solemnly. âHowever, Mr. Kang Oh and Mr. Eder arenât outsiders. Theyâre one of âusâ.â Book grinned.
âOoh, as expected of you, Book. Youâre quite clever.â
âIndeed. Mr. Kang Oh isnât an outsider, so letâs make one for him!â the dwarves enthusiastically exclaimed.
âSo they say. Iâll let our blacksmiths know; theyâll make you your sword.â Randelhoff smiled.
âThank you. But Iâd like to provide the metal.â
âWhat metal?â
âI have some adamantium thatâs long since been exposed to the power of darkness. I heard that only the Black Hammer Dwarves could handle metal tainted by darkness,â Kang Oh said.
âDid you say adamantium?â
âYes.â
âMm.â Randelhoffâs face stiffened. Something was off.
âWhatâs wrong?â Kang Oh asked.
âUnfortunately, none of our blacksmiths are skilled enough to handle it.â
âPardon me?â
âOh, câmon. Things were going so well. Now you spring this on me!?â
âMany of our brothers died when we escaped Inariusâs lair. Our tribeâs greatest blacksmith, Lord Swallow, died as well.â With a face filled with regret, he continued, âIt might be different if he was still alive, but none of our blacksmiths can handle adamantium.â
âNo.â Kang Oh furrowed his brow.
âCan we use any other metal to make the sword?â Randelhoff asked.
âNo. It has to be adamantium.â
If he wanted to complete Valanâs quest, then he needed to make the sword out of adamantium.
âMm.â Randelhoff looked like he was at a loss.
âIs there any other way?â Kang Oh asked.
âWell⌠Iâm not sure itâll work, but itâs worth a shot.â
âWhat is it?â
âDo you remember what I told you about the Fireâs Heart?â
Fireâs Heart was the name of the SS-rank sword that Magnium had dropped.
âBy studying this, one of you may become a Master one day,â Kang Oh said.
âIndeed. Itâll help us make a new Master Blacksmith.â
âMm.â
âIf we want to continue this discussion, then weâll have to divide the loot first.â
At this point in time, the Fireâs Heart didnât belong to anyone yet. The same went for the other items.
âLetâs divide it up now. After all, you only need to worry about our share.â
âIndeed. What do you want?â
âThe Fireâs Heart and the Fire Bomb Belt. Eder probably wants the Door Opening Crystal the most. Right?â Kang Oh glanced at Eder.
âYes.â Eder nodded his head.
âHmm. You donât need the lava crystals or the equipment that the Lava Spirits dropped?â
âNo.â
âConsidering how instrumental you two were⌠You can take the Fireâs Heart, the Fire Bomb Belt, and the crystal,â Randelhoff said.
âThank you.â Kang Oh beamed. âYeah!â
âNow then, letâs return to our previous discussion. Iâd like to make you an offer.â
âIâm listening.â
âLend us the Fireâs Heart free of charge. Weâll return it to you when one of us has become a Master Blacksmith or is capable of handling adamantium.â
âMm.â Kang Oh thought over the matter.
If he accepted Randelhoffâs proposal, then heâd lose the Fireâs Heart for an indeterminate amount of time. After all, he didnât know how long itâd take for one of them to become a Master Blacksmith!
But he had to face the facts; he needed one of the Black Hammer Dwarves to forge him a sword using the adamantium.
UltimatelyâŚ
âUnderstood.â Kang Oh had no choice but to accept his offer.
âYou made the right call.â Randelhoff extended his hand.
âIâm counting on you.â Kang Oh shook his hand.
Once the party was over, Kang Oh and Eder returned to their room.
âThings ended well for us,â Eder said.
âYeah.â Kang Oh nodded his head.
âSoâŚâ Eder pulled out a fist-sized purple crystal from his robes. The crystal glowed brilliantly. âWhen are we going to the next area?â
âSoon,â Kang Oh replied curtly.
* * *
Kang Oh and Eder returned to Altein. They needed to prepare themselves before heading to the next floor.
Kang Oh opened a message window. Since the Black Hammer Dwarves decided to remain in the volcanic region, Kang Oh desperately needed some more manpower.
â Mr. Sephiro.
â Yes?
â How did your hidden class quest go? Did you class change?
With the excuse that he had a hidden class quest, Sephiro, or Worker #2, had escaped his grasp for some time.
â Iâm not done yet.
â Are you lying?
â Of course not. Why would I lie?
â Hmm. Then we wonât be able to hunt together.
â Yes!
â How unfortunate. We were going to hunt in Despia.
â Despia? The Land that Borders Hell? No one has ever been there before.
â Itâs quite nice. I found an SS-rank sword there. Plus, I can monopolize all of the hunting grounds and dungeons. Not only that, but monsters give me a ton of experience and proficiency! Alright then, see you later.
â Hey, wait!
He could tell how anxious Sephiro was. Kang Oh just left the message window open, and didnât reply back for some time.
â Excuse me!
â Look here!
â Hey!
â Yo!
Then, Kang Oh sent him a message back.
â What?
â Well, I think Iâll be done with my quest soon, so I should be able to come along. Hehe.
âAs I thought, he was lying to me this entire time. I caught you red-handed!â Kang Oh smiled.
â Will you class change soon?
â Yes, I think so.
Heâd probably finished the quest a long time ago, so he had already class changed.
âI wonder what class it is.â If they hunted together, then heâd learn what it was eventually.
â We havenât decided when weâd leave yet. Please finish your quest before then.
â Yes!
âYou liar,â Kang Oh muttered.
âWhat did Mr. Sephiro say?â
âI got him,â Kang Oh said.
âYou got him?â Eder tilted his head. âWhat is he talking about?â
âYeah. Iâm not letting him escape this time.â Kang Oh smiled evilly.
Heâd bring Sephiro to Despia and make him work like a dog. It was the price of lying to him for so long! Aah, poor Sephiro. His future was dark. Truly dark indeed.
âNext up isâŚâ Kang Oh opened another message window.
â Mr. Bart.
If the Crazy Highschooler/Genius Gamer, Bart, and his party joined him, then theyâd be a huge help.
â Yes?
â Are you busy?
â Yes. Itâs exam week.
â Then why are you online?
He didnât get a response back.
Kang Oh sent the Witch of Annihilation, Helena, a message too, but she responded with a curt⌠âNo thank you!â.
In the end, only the three of them would be going to Despia.
Two days laterâŚ
Kang Oh, Eder, and Sephiro gathered in front of Alteinâs intercity transfer gate.
âHehe, itâs been a while,â Sephiro said shyly.
âYes it has. Have you been well?â Kang Oh greeted him with a smile, concealing his true feelings.
âWelcome, Worker #2!â
âBrother!â Eder, who concealed his face with a smile mask, opened his arms wide.
âAah, Brother!â
Sephiro and Eder forcefully hugged each other.
âFor single guys, you sure are having a good time.â Kang Oh clicked his tongue.
âYou donât have a girlfriend either!â Sephiro shouted. âYouâre one to talk!â
âHoo, hoo, hoo.â Kang Oh laughed and stared at Eder. Eder patted Sephiroâs shoulder as if comforting him.
âNo wayâŚâ Sephiro looked at him in disbelief.
âIt may be hard for you to believe, but itâs true. I saw Mr. Kang Ohâs girlfriend with my own two eyes,â Eder said.
âImpossible! How can someone as crazy as him have a girlfriend!?â Sephiro shook his head.
Kang Oh grinned. People who didnât have something always envied those that did.
âThereâs seriously no way!â Sephiro cried out.
âShut up. Letâs enter the gate now.â Kang Oh kicked Sephiroâs butt, pushing him into the intercity transfer gate.
âThe Black Hammer Dwarvesâ hideout!â Eder said.
Swish.
They instantly disappeared.
* * *
The Black Hammer Dwarvesâ hideout.
The dwarves saw Kang Oh, Eder, and Sephiro off.
âTake care,â Randelhoff said.
âWeâll be hearing about each other through Mr. Man Bok,â Kang Oh said.
âBe careful.â Randelhoff patted his shoulder.
âYes.â Kang Oh nodded his head and gave Eder the signal. Then, Eder pulled out the purple crystal from his robes and forcefully threw it.
Swish.
The crystal radiated bright light as it flew through the air. All of a sudden, it shattered, resulting in something quite fascinating. The crystal fragments formed a giant oval border!
AndâŚ!
A portal formed within.
[The door to Despiaâs Saharamant Region has been opened.]
[The door will remain open for an hour.]
âAlright, letâs go.â Kang Oh glanced back at Eder and Sephiro, and went through the portal first.
âPhew.â Sephiro anxiously walked through. What would be on the other side of the portal?
Ederâs eyes were filled with yearning. He really hoped that the goddessâs temple lay beyond there!
Kang Oh, Eder, and Sephiro passed through the portal.
