At first, Kang Oh wondered whether he could use the spy or not; but now, all he wanted to do was get rid of him, if for no other reason than to deal with that unbearable itch he felt on his back.
âHow?â Eder asked.
âWhat do you mean âhow?â. We talk to him!â
Kang Oh suddenly turned around and beelined towards the spy. He pushed the brush aside and stood before the bandana-wearing man.
âO-OhâŠâ
The bandana-wearing man was clearly taken aback.
âHey.â
Kang Oh grabbed the playerâs throat.
[You are performing a hostile act.]
[If it escalates any further, you may be labeled as a criminal. Please be careful.]
[The opposing party can attack you.]
[The opposing partyâs attack will be considered self-defense.]
Kang Oh wasnât worried about the system messages.
He wasnât going to escalate this any further, and heâd already taken the initiative too!
âHey!â Kang Oh yelled.
âY-Yes!?â
The man was shocked.
âWhy do you keep following us? Are you trying to ambush us or something?â
âN-No.â
âWhat do you mean ânoâ?â
âIâm not trying to⊠ambush you.â
âThen why are you following us?â
âIâm not following you⊠either.â
âI think I saw you at the entrance. So youâre saying that youâve coincidentally been walking the same path as us?â Kang Oh said with a sharp gaze.
âYes! I-Itâs a coincidence!â the man replied desperately.
âAh, so it was a coincidence, huh? Iâm sorry. I mustâve misunderstood,â Kang Oh smiled and let go of his throat.
âT-Thatâs alright.â
âBut if I see you again⊠Iâll kill you.â
Kang Oh frigidly whispered, âIâll kill you.â into the manâs ear.
â!!!â
âIâm not stupid enough to let you walk free when you could ambush me at any time. If youâre so sure that you wonât be discovered, then feel free to keep following me.â
Kang Oh stared coldly.
The man avoided Kang Ohâs gaze.
âLetâs not see each other again, ok?â
Kang Oh tapped his shoulder and returned to Eder.
âLetâs go.â
Kang Oh took the lead.
Eder took a look behind him. The bandana-wearing man had no intention of following them anymore.
He stuck right next to Kang Oh.
âWow! As I thought, youâre really good at being evil!â
Kang Oh had skillfully threatened the bandana-wearing man.
âI just told him to stop following us. Whatâs wrong with that?â Kang Oh asked.
âYou didnât tell him. You threatened him.â
âI didnât threaten him. I just persuaded him.â
âAh, so âIâll kill youâ is a way of persuading someone, huh. I learned something new today.â
Eder exaggeratedly nodded his head.
âOh, you heard that?â
Heâd definitely whispered that.
âI lip read you.â
âAhem. Weâve gotten rid of our tail, so letâs start gathering information for real.â
Kang Ohâs objective was the white monkey.
However, he didnât have enough information on his target. Not only that, but the Asta Guild were impeding him too.
It was at times like this that he needed to gather even more information!
* * *
Kang Oh and Eder, whoâd lost their tail, explored the forest whilst fighting off Grancias.
Unfortunately, they couldnât find the white monkey.
Instead, they occasionally encountered some of the Asta Guild members.
âThose guys must be from the Asta Guild too.â
âProbably.â
âPhew. If it was going to be like this, then why did they even bother following us?â
Eder sighed.
âThey must not want others to see them when they find something.â
The Asta Guild secretly glanced at Kang Oh and Eder, tracking what they were doing.
But they were just watching; they didnât take any action against them.
Until now, that is!
When Kang Oh and Eder were about to head east, three members of the Asta Guild stopped them.
âYou cannot go any further,â the largest of the three said.
Kang Ohâs eyes glinted.
âThe monkeyâs past this point it seems.â
It was obvious.
âWhy not?â Kang Oh asked, assuming a slanted posture.
âOur forces are hunting right now. Spectators are not allowed, so please leave,â the man strongly said.
âAnd if I donât?â
âThen⊠Weâll have to use force.â
The man drew his weapon and the other two men beside him did the same.
âSeriously, these guys think theyâre all that just because theyâre in a guild.â
Kang Oh furrowed his brow.
Then, Eder poked Kang Ohâs side, seemingly asking, âAre we going to fight?â.
âNo.â
Kang Oh slightly shook his head.
Beating these guys up was tempting, but it wasnât time yet.
If they fought against the Asta Guild now, then theyâd be hunted down before they caught the monkey.
âPhew. Scary. I should go a different way.â
Kang Oh shrugged his shoulders and travelled west with Eder.
âThe monkey must be in the east,â Kang Oh said.
The Grancia Forest was divided into 5 different regions: the northern, southern, eastern, western, and central region.
âIndeed. But if they keep blocking us, thereâs no way weâll get the monkey.â
âThatâs not necessarily true.â
Kang Oh grinned.
Heâd received lots of situational information.
First, there were a ton of Asta Guild members. Second, they werenât able to catch the monkey despite their numbers.
âI donât think itâs because the monster is incredibly strongâŠâ
If that were the case, then they wouldnât have any members to spare. They wouldâve withdrawn their spy and those blocking the entrance, since they needed everyone they could get their hands on.
But considering how things were going, it seemed like they couldnât catch it.
Which meantâŠ!
âYou canât catch this thing by just chasing it.â
Theyâd brought this many people, yet there still werenât any signs of a fight; this meant that the normal way of fighting a monster wasnât applicable here.
If thatâs the case, thenâŠ
âThere must be some special method to catching it (e.g. a special item, luring it out, or attacking its hideout).â
âDo you have any good ideas?â Eder asked.
âI donât think you can hunt the monkey normally,â Kang Oh said.
âItâs not easy to catch!â
Eder nodded his head.
âSo we should try finding its hideout first.â
âIts hideout?â
âYeah. The Asta Guild is frantically chasing after it, so it should have no choice but to return to its hideout. Weâll aim for it then.â
âHow do you propose we find its hideout? Can your Hyper Intuition skill be used that way too?â
Eder tilted his head.
âI dunno. But if my Hyper Intuition does activate, then it probably has something to do with the monkey.â
âSo youâre saying that even you have to search every nook and cranny of this place.â
âWeâre looking for different things. Those guys are looking for the monkey, while Iâm looking for the hideout. Thatâs a huge difference.â
âWhatever you say.â
Eder snorted.
âIt is different. You know, youâve been pretty snarky lately.â
It was as if Kang Oh was shooting lasers through his eyes. âWhy I oughtaâŠ!â.
He avoided Kang Ohâs prickly gaze and bowed his head.
âLetâs do well.â
Kang Oh tapped Ederâs shoulder.
âYes!â Eder replied immediately.
* * *
Whack!
Astaâs guildmaster, Arcol, kicked a nearby tree.
âMan. We lost it again.â
âTch. Yeah.â
Vesta clicked his tongue.
When they had discovered that the invisible monkey was in the east, they had formed an impenetrable perimeter around it.
Despite that, the monkey used its ability and just leisurely walked out of their perimeter.
Its invisibility was truly one of a kind.
Dye wouldnât work on it, and neither would detection magic or tracking skills.
It was perfect invisibility, one which would erase even its own presence!
âIf weâre able to obtain this invisibilityâŠ!â
Vesta thirstily licked his lips with his tongue.
âIs this really invisibility?â Arcol asked, looking suspicious.
âYou saw it yourself. It became transparent like glass and disappeared. And it was called an invisible monkey inside the adventure journal,â Vesta said.
âI saw it, yeah, but you canât say with absolute certainty that that was invisibility.â
âWhat else could it be?â
âIt could be teleportation or something like that.â
âThe effect of teleportation is diffâŠâ
âWhatever the case, we canât go on like this,â Arcol interrupted.
Vesta scowled at the words, âwe canâtâ.
âAre you saying that⊠we should give up?â
âNo. We have to succeed, since weâve used up so much of our guild membersâ time and effort.â
âThen?â
âTake about 10 guild members or so, and gather some more information on that monkey. This is just a hunch, but⊠I feel like weâve made the wrong move,â Arcol said.
âGot it.â
Vesta also felt like they needed something else to get them out of this situation.
âAnd from this point forward, weâre not going to capture it. Weâre going to kill it.â
Arcolâs eyes were filled with killing intent.
Thus far, theyâd tried to capture the monkey using various methods. However, none of them had worked.
Thus, they only had one choice left.
âThatâs a little⊠Thereâs a chance that I canât get what I want from a monster corpse.â
A Monster Scholar like Vesta could extract a monsterâs special ability, skill, or magic from their corpse.
Of course, there was a chance that he would fail as well.
âIt canât be helped. At this rate, some of our guild members will leave or rebel. We also canât stay here forever. The other guilds will catch the scent and come rushing over. What if one of them is one of the 5 great guilds?â Arcol said firmly.
âHoo, I got it.â
Vesta hated to admit it, but Arcol was right.
âWeâll try to capture it alive, so try to find some information.â
Vesta nodded his head.
From this point on, the Asta Guildâs capture mission had become a kill on sight mission.
HoweverâŠ!
Will they actually get that chance?
* * *
Kang Oh and Eder began searching for the monkeyâs hideout.
Whenever they saw the Asta Guild, they would halt their search and act like they were hunting.
After all, they couldnât show any signs that they were searching for something.
âPhew. There are more over there.â
Eder nodded his chin towards an Asta Guild member.
âI hope the monkey shows up again and draws their attention,â Kang Oh said.
âWhat if they manage to catch it?â
âThey probably wonât. If they could catch it, then they wouldâve caught it earlier.â
âThat makes sense.â
Once they left the Asta Guild memberâs sight, they returned to their search for the monkeyâs hideout.
They looked between rocks, through underground tunnels, and even below and above the trees.
A short while laterâŠ
Kang Oh and Eder began searching through the Grancia Forestâs central region.
There were all kinds of rocks, boulders, and pebbles here, but no trees in sight. Since there werenât any trees here, there werenât any Grancias here either.
Not only that, but they didnât see the Asta Guild members here either, so Kang Oh and Eder could focus entirely on their search.
âHas your Hyper Intuition picked up anything?â Eder asked.
âNot yet. Thereâs a chance it wonât activate.â
Hyper Intuition pointed out items that held some secret or hidden areas.
However, he wasnât sure whether it would activate or not when he found the monkeyâs hideout.
âExcuse me? Then how will we find it if your Hyper Intuition doesnât activate?â
âLetâs worry about that after weâve searched the forest.â
Kang Oh shrugged his shoulders.
âOh, god. I hope your Hyper Intuition finds something.â
Eder clasped his hands together and prayed.
A short while laterâŠ
Kang Oh, whoâd been searching between all sorts of rocks, suddenly stopped.
âHuh?â
This feeling⊠the feeling that something was suspicious and that something was here!
Once he saw the square-shaped, flat marble in between the rocks, his Hyper Intuition flared up.
