The atmosphere was quiet.

A few seconds later, Luo Zhan’s IQ returned. Raising his hand, he pinched the area between his brows in annoyance, cursing in a low voice, “You only got wet, did you lose your mind1….”

He looked back at the sofa.

The girl apparently used great effort to hide her true emotions, but at the mention of eyes, her originally open display of emotions became a bit more reserved.

Luo Zhan sighed noiselessly.

He got up from the floor, squatted his knees and leaned over to the girl, “I’m sorry.”

Tang Ran was slightly started. Soon after, she looked up, the corners of her eyes curving down, “It’s okay, I’m used to-“

”Luo Zhan’s a jerk, no need to pay attention to him.”

“……?”

Luo Zhan tried to hold back and restrain himself, but still couldn’t hold himself back.

He raised his hand, rubbing the top of the girl’s head that looked a little sad. His voice was cold and lazy, but he tried very hard to “coax a person”-

“You’re the prettiest, no one can compare to you.”

Tang Ran was stunned for a long time.

She remembered that not long ago it was the same, similarly light, mischievous, and lazy tone of voice, smilingly but not smilingly saying to her: “Not good-looking, like an ugly duckling.”

Now….

The corners of the girl’s eyes curved down, “Thank you Luoluo.”

Luo Zhan, who had just withdrawn his hand, stiffened and coldly warned, “No calling me Luoluo.”

Tang Ran hesitantly asked, “Then what should I call you?”

“.”

“Directly calling you Luo Xiu, is that okay?”

“……” Despite having some displeasure, after all, it was a hole he dug so Luo Zhan could only agree, “Mm.”

The washed and dried clothes were sent back to the guest room.

Luo Zhan walked to the long corridor and stood waiting for the maid he had already warned not to talk. He wanted her to help the little girl in the guest room change into the dress she was wearing before.

Not long after, the door of the guest room reopened.

Tang Ran, who had changed back into the dark formal dress stitched with small diamonds, very carefully walked out holding the door.

Luo Zhan’s eyes paused, and when he returned from his amazement, he stepped forward and handed the blind cane and phone to the girl, “The phone’s been repaired and can be used normally. The rain has stopped outside, I’ll have someone send you to the main building.”

Tang Ran froze: “Don’t you want to go together?”

“No thanks.”

“… Okay.” The girl, except for pausing for a few seconds, didn’t show any sign of opposing.

After the pause, she also only nodded her head and said softly in a earnest tone, “Then, see you next time.”

Luo Zhan was silent.

He watched the girl hold the blind cane turn around accompanied by the maid.

The thin cane tapped gently on the floor of the corridor, moving slowly towards the darkness ahead, those tiny sounds full of caution, tentativeness, and uneasiness.

When Tang Ran nearly got to where her memory remembered the stairs to be, she heard the silence behind her get broken by the sound of footsteps.

The man came with a faint fragrance of cedar wood stopped beside her, seemingly hesitating. Then Tang Ran felt the upper end of the blind cane she was holding being held by someone.

Still the same flippant and lazy tone of voice, only it had a little bit of contradictory discomfort:

“I’ll send you….. down to the main building.”

Tang Ran stood in the same spot for a few seconds.

Then she lightly bent down the corners of her eyes. She smiled softly, “Okay.”

.

In accordance with the principle that men and women should not touch when giving or receiving2, Luo Zhan was separated from her by the length a small blind cane, still thinking about which brain cell of his was faulty as he helped the girl downstairs.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have put himself in such an impossible situation.

Thinking about the old man’s birthday banquet at night, in front of all the guests, he couldn’t stop everyone from sharing his real identity as Luo Zhan to the little girl he was holding at the moment. Luo Zhan felt his temples throbbing with pain.

Telling lies as he pleased, but it came back to bite him.

Luo Zhan sighed.

Tang Ran’s ears were sensitive enough to catch this untraceable sigh. She hesitated, asking carefully, “Luo Xiu, what’s wrong with you?”

Luo Zhan lazily responded, “Headache.”

Tang Ran asked worriedly, “Could it be a fever from the rain? Try and feel if your forehead is hot?”

“No need-“

The words stopped abruptly.

Luo Zhan’s footsteps also suddenly stopped at the last step.

Looking at the man with a gentle smile and cold eyes standing not far from the first floor, Luo Zhan fell into silence.

Tang Ran, whose eyes were closed, naturally didn’t know that the real Luo Xiu was already standing by the stairs.

She only knew that the person in front of her stopped suddenly, or perhaps after saying “headache”- Tang Ran frowned with worry and moved carefully up the blind stick.

She asked softly in a worried voice: “Luo Xiu?”

“…..”

When Luo Zhan snapped out of it, he watched a small, fair, and slender hand behind him climb up along the blind cane, and then a cool, icy palm lightly covered his forehead.

The girl’s voice was gentle, probably “coaxing” him, a “patient” who was not very obedient.

“Don’t you move.”

“…..”

Luo Zhan’s eyes wavered and he forgot to stop her.

By the stairs, the man standing straight against the wall paused in his movements. A few seconds later, the man raised his eyes. Looking at his younger brother standing on the stairs and the girl with her eyes closed, still draped in Luo Zhan’s jacket, Luo Xiu raised his eyebrows slightly-

“Luo.. Xiu?”

Luo Zhan: “…….”

I woke up this morning and saw that someone sent me a ko-fi & I was so excited. Everyone should say thank you to winkie for this chapter <3

Author’s note:

Sexy, Luoluo, crashing online (x

*Here’s my attempt (hopefully this makes sense): crashing basically means failing or getting frustrated in the middle of things/when something unexpectedly and unsatisfying occurs. So, what I inferred from this was that programmed Luoluo (saying ugly duckling) ruined his compliment. Or him claiming to be Luo Xiu backfired.

1 Lost his mind: the way you say went crazy is ‘water entered their brain’ so it’s a play on words.

2 This was a principle from some philosopher, I read about it when I was translating but I forgot now haha anywayyy.
