âYes, Colonel. I definitely heard a personâs voice, it sounded like⌠it sounded like Desharow!âÂ
The fact that those voices belonged to Rhine and Sakarol made my nerves tense up. I retreated into the shadows with my back plastered against the tree. As I peeked my head out, I saw the two of them appearing by the stone pillars on the other side, approximately 10 metres away from me. If they were to come any closer, they would be able to hear my uncontrollable heavy breathing.
I covered my mouth tightly, not even daring to move, and all I could hear was the agitated pulse of my heartbeat. My body was trembling so intensely that I expected them to hear my subtle movements.         Â
âHeâs definitely still nearby.â Rhine continued, scoping the area, pointing his flashlight everywhere as he came closer and closer in my direction, making me shrink my body deeper into the shadow. Seeing as he was about to push aside the bushes covering me, my heart became lodged into my throat, but then Sakarol just then let out a frivolous snort.Â
âHey, donât look anymore, we have more important things to do. We have to quickly reach the shoreline to help the professors and the others. As for wanting to find your Desharow⌠tomorrow this island would be swarmed with our troops, those Russians wonât be able to run away.â
As Sakarol talked nonchalantly with a sneer, my heart sank immediately knowing that the turn of events was far from good. Those vessels were allied with Sakarol, and furthermore their men were from the army! What country were they from and what was their motive for coming to Merfolk Island?Â

I stared at Rhine who looked like he was lost in a sea of thoughts. He furrowed his eyebrows for a few seconds before turning his body, âColonel Sakarol, I have no objection regarding those other Russians but I do hope that you can leave Desharow alive. Heâs very young and a genius within the biological field, so leaving him alive would be advantageous for us. We can recruit him as a member of the experimental base that we will be building here.â
Experimental base? Theyâre planning on turning this island into a base for experimental purposes? What are they going to experiment on? The merfolks? Why are they deploying the military to guard the island? Is it because they were going to exploit the merfolkâs genes to manufacture biological weapons?Â

As she said that, her face suddenly drooped down and she spat out several words softly, âJust like a moth. But you know, moths are really fragile, they⌠die really quickly. Wer hoch steigt, kann tief fallen .â Â
âBut Colonel, Iâm notââ
Sakarol interrupted, âYou like him, and you have fallen for him. Rhine, just admit it frankly. We arenât like those inflexible and stubborn Russians. We allow homosexuality but feelings can only ever exist below military orders.â  Â
ââŚUnderstood.â
Damn it! My fingers dug into the tree bark, breathing in short breaths. My thoughts were high with tension, making me more nervous because I was certain that Sakarol just added a string of foreign words into her sentence. Although I wasnât able to understand what she said, I was still able to distinguish that sentence as German.
âThey were Germans and probably were a remnant group of Nazi members from World War 2, who were unwilling to give up.Â
They had hidden within Moscow long ago, and perhaps had already been eyeing Merfolk Island founded by Dr. Vinogreider many years ago. They schemed and planned a huge plot while pretending to be Russians, while also dragging in the Americans easily into the mix, to let them have the misconception that Russia was hiding something under its sleeves and had us thinking that America was against Russia while they hid in the dark to find the perfect opportunity to resurrect.
God⌠I have to immediately get this information back to Lafarre and the others, I canât stay here any longer!
I swallowed, staring at Rhine as they walked away. I supported my soft and jelly-like body from the ground, but before I could even take two steps, I stumbled to the ground again and due to carelessness, I accidentally slipped down a small slope. Rhineâs shouting was immediately heard followed by sounds of footsteps coming nearer in the distance, âHey! Whoâs there? Is that you Desharow?âÂ
Damn it, this is terrible! I rolled over, thinking about making a break for the forest but my soft legs just didnât have the strength as I stumbled not even a meter in before falling down again. Turning my head around, I saw Rhine close behind me. Apparently, he looked like he wanted to help me up, however his hand just froze in mid-air as his eyes swept through my whole body in astonishment, clearly taking note of my unusual appearance. My whole body was flushed from the fever, the thing between my legs that hadnât gone down and also the transparent mucus that I was too embarrassed to even mention.  Â

I curled my body, shrinking back. Humiliated, I used my arms to cover my flushed cheeks and shouted in a stern voice, âFuck off, donât look at me with those kinds of eyes! Donât come anywhere near me!âÂ
âLet me help you, Desharow! Youâre sick!âÂ
Rhine grabbed onto my arm, trying to pull me up from the ground but my body was too heavy for him to handle, so he lost his footing and fell on top of me. The instant his face was right in front me, his expression shifted to a foolish look, his eyes boring into my face, unable to look away. I was aware that my current appearance looked like an AV actor, though I probably didnât look as alluring, but falling into Rhineâs hand like this would undoubtedly be dangerous.  Â
Desharow, this is dangerous. Hurry, hurry and leave this place!
Thinking this, I immediately wanted to get up and run but my body failed me as it was too weak to follow through. I laid on the ground as the world spun around me, my eyes moist and fuzzy, my mouth roughly gasping for air, my hands feeling the ground to find something to support me up but instead I felt a rough palm touching my thigh. My legs shook like a spring, I was so anxious that I lost my line of sight causing me to feel a sense of crisis gathering again.Â
Seeing a vague warm tint appearing on the determined face above me, Rhine called out to me, âHey, my little Wallace, did you somehow induce yourself with a special kind of medication? It seems to me that you need to do âthat thingââŚâ As he said that, his hand maneuvered itself to my groin and in a hoarse voice he continued, âThis place here⌠is overflowing with hot rushing bloodâŚâÂ
âGet lost!âÂ

With great difficulty, I raised my leg to give Rhine a hard kick to the stomach and used this as an opportunity to slip out, however he jumped up from behind and hugged tightly around me. I gave a loud cry as he used his body to press me against a tree and tried to bind my hands behind my back. I used what little strength I had left to kick up a fight however with the intense struggle, the mud on my body had been rubbed off.
I couldnât fight against a trained soldier like Rhine and in no time I was restricted completely. Just when I was gasping for air with my strength nearly depleted, a low and deep voice suddenly resonated from within the darkness not so far away, making the surrounding leaves rustle and sway in an instant, subsequently a strong scent pervaded the air.   Â
Itâs AgaresâŚÂ
My body quivered as though it had been struck by lightning. When the strength of Rhineâs grip loosened, I took advantage of the moment and broke into a dash heading into the forest, not caring where it led to like a rabbit. At this moment, a couple of gunshots rang out from behind me and I was able to hear Sakarol shouting loudly, âThat merman! Rhine, quickly shoot it!â Â
âBang, bang, bangâÂ
Another round of shots were heard, but I could hear Agares roaring even nearer now. The strong wind was pressing hard on my back, however I didnât dare to look back and was only stumbling into the gloomy and mottled shadows of the forest. I gulped mouthfuls of air as I ran out of breath, running at such a high speed.
The lack of oxygen made my head so chaotic that I was even confused if I was mixing up dreams and reality. The sound of Rhine shouting seemed close yet far, âDesharow, come back! That merman is right ahead of you!â

I lost my composure and looked up in front but then my foot stepped on empty air as I came to realize what laid in front of me was a steep cliff, and at the bottom of it was an immense dark cave. However, even though I saw this, my body was unable to stop in time and I fell off the cliff. At this point, it was a matter of life or death, but in that moment my arm was immediately grabbed and my whole body was suspended in mid-air. Lifting up my head, I saw Rhineâs eyes looking down at me. Desperate to survive, I instinctively grabbed onto his arm with both hands, but as I did that, I heard a faint noise floating up from the cave below.    Â
The state of my nerves shot through the roof. Rhine grabbed onto my arm that was slowly slipping inch by inch due to sweat as he stared into my eyes, shouting, âDonât look, Desharow! Hold on a little longer. Iâm gonna pull you up!
But once he said that, I was unable to control myself from looking downâ
I was shocked by what I saw.
I unexpectedly saw Henry that I had met previously, he was laying despondently with his eyes opened wide and glazed over, lying naked on the rock, his hands and feet pressed down by several pale-white webbed hands, trapping him on the rock. A few robust mermen were pressing against him, and one, in particular, was using all his strength shaking above him, fucking him.
His ass was already dripping with blood, mixing together with some kind of questionable substance that I was unable to see clearly. Perhaps it was his intestines, clearly portraying that he had been fucked way too many times until he was on the verge of death, yet surrounding him were countless fellows that were thirsting, obviously waiting for their turn.Â
Whereâs Davis? I looked around the area hopefully in a trance but couldnât find a sign of him. However, the nauseating scene before me made my insides twitch, making me want to vomit. I fearfully grabbed onto Rhineâs hand, my legs stepping onto the rock trying my best to climb up, but my arms were too slippery and no matter what, my legs just couldnât find the strength. But in that extremely critical moment, a black shadow loomed over Rhine! ăă
Being caught off guard, I was scared shitless. I broke into a shiver and my arm slipped out from Rhineâs grip. For just a moment, my body felt weightless and in the next, my body had plunged into the sea. I looked dazedly at the caveâs entrance and in just a few seconds, I saw countless dark shadows charging towards my direction. My brain exploded loudly, and immediately my hands and feet flopped towards the surface of the water as all eyes landed on me. The mermen were looking at me like a tiger looking at its prey, gathering all around me like ghost fires floating in the cemetery, wanting to burn me to ashes. ăă
Henryâs painful blood-curdling screams numbed my scalp. I didnât dare turn my head over to look. I could only cower in fear and scrambled to climb up a small rock that was in the center of this water-pooled cave with my whole body trembling from head to toe.
I was unable to distinguish how many webbed hands that came for me. Some emerged to grab my arms from each side, a few pairs went to grab my legs, while some others went to tore against my clothes. It was like they were fighting for a precious trophy. I swore that today was definitely the most terrifying day of my life, never before had I experienced something this terrible! Â
Just when I felt that I was going to pass out from the fear, a big shadow abruptly dropped down from the top, separating the sea like a sharp knife, arousing waves to split in its wake, and emerging from the waters was a familiar outline. Just with those gloomy eyes sweeping around my surroundings, even though he didnât give any warning or commands, the mermen who were planning to eat me all scattered away instantly, rushing after one another to retreat into the water and only exposing half of their head to quietly watching their leader.   Â
I laid on the rock, limp and powerless, as the burning lust expanded rapidly within my body, making me lose all my strength to even escape. I could only stare blankly at Agares slowly approaching me from the water, swimming to where I was. He leaned down, his shadow looming over me, shrouding me completely with his body. I was lost in the haze of his intense hormonal scent that seemed like it had become a cloud with intense rain crashing down on me.Â
His webbed hands climbed up my waist, hugging me into his embrace. I inhaled his scent deeply, like a severe drug addict going through rehabilitation but had managed to obtain a large dose of heroin and was unable to wait, with my throat releasing a soft yet hoarse groan.

Cheonsa: Whew, things are slowly unraveling, but thereâs still more mysteries and danger to come. Where do you think Davis is? And any thought on what you think of Rhine so far?Â
Jade: Honestly, if Rhine was a little different I would have liked him a lot more than I do now :/
