A horrible sinking feeling that could make oneâs hair stand up pushed down on my face like pressurized air, making it harder for me to breath. I only stayed there for a couple of seconds before I turned to attempt an escape. However, my path was immediately obstructed by the dark human-like shadows that were emerging one by one from the sea.Â
I stiffened at the scene and stood completely frozen. The mermaids were crowded together, and their figures were concealed beneath the cold and clear moonlight, but little by little, under the dim glow, the contours of their shadows became more distinct.
My eyes widened in surprise. This group of mermaids were just as beautiful as Lilith! Their seaweed-like hair hung loosely down on their snowy, jade-like shoulders, and their bodies were rather well-endowed and alluring. Their eyes reflected the glow of the water, making them even more bewitching when compared to glittering, clear gems. It would have been very difficult for any man to resist being surrounded by groups of beguiling female demons, and I, was no exception, because I was shocked stupid by their beauty and was rooted to the spot.Â
The group of mermaids soon swam closer to me, and when all their eyes focused on me, I felt immediate chills.
They were smiling, looking as if they held no malicious intentions. However, their eyes told a different story. I was unable to describe what kind of look it was, but if I had to lay it out, it would be as if they saw me as an ill patient lying on an operating table on the verge of death or like a sacrificial offering.

When the red-haired merman probed under my clothing, he bowed his head near my neck and deeply inhaled my scent. My entire body let out a shudder, and I could only uselessly move my head, my neck being the only thing I could move. Then, a voice roared in my mind. Stunned, I became aware that I was hoping for Agares to come back and save me. The result would still be the same whether I was in Agaresâs or this red-haired mermanâs hand, yet I was still intensely calling out for help in my heartâ
If I was capable of making sounds, I would have already been calling out for Agares right then and there, but unfortunately, nothing could be made out other than muffled cries coming from my throat. I could only let myself be offered like a sacrifice to be enjoyed by the red- haired merman as he pleased. I looked on helplessly as he tore open my clothes, and as I was incapable of any retaliation, I could only clench my fist. My nails dug into the flesh of my palm, letting the pain keep me from breaking down at this moment.
I swore that I have never had a nightmare more terrible than the present situation. The blue veins onat the side of my neck tightened to the extreme, ;almost to the point of bursting open. I looked around at the sea with bloodshot eyes. At this moment, I seriously wished to see a black fishtail burst out from the water right in front of me!Â
But there was nothing. The sea was so stagnant that not even a single wave could be seen. Agares had probably been swallowed up by that merfolk-eating monster and was deep inside its stomach, and had thus completely vanished. As my shirt had already been ripped open, the merman was currently using his webbed hands to caress my chest for a while, before his hands quickly went down to unfasten my trousers.
I painfully closed my eyes and gritted my teeth. My whole body had sunk into the pits of despair, and I gave up all hope, but all of the sudden, I heard loud rippling sounds of water in the rising waves, carrying along a piercingly cold wind. I opened up my eyes and instantly caught sight of a large shadow that speedily rose from underneath the water. With just one webbed claw, the red-haired merman who was on my body was suddenly lifted up and thrown 10 meters away, his figure creating an arch before falling head first into the sea.,Â
The mermaids that were holding onto me made loud, frightened shrill sounds, and in an instant, they had dispersed back into the sea, disappearing without a trace. As I fell back into the water, my brain still couldnât catch up with what had just happened, due to the fact I was still badly shaken up. I could only look back up at Agares in amazement. The moonlight was covered by Agaresâs shadowy figure, so the only thing I could make out was his long silvery hair which dangled into the sea, and the moonlight shone along the edges of his hair making it look like a metal scabbard, which integrated together with the knife-like black tail in the water to form a long, sharp weapon that was splitting the moon and the surface of the water apart. However, Agares was currently heaving violently as though he was fuming with anger. His whole body gave out a thick, murderous aura, one full of evil intentions, but at the same time, I smelled the strong metallic scent of blood.Â
Agares was hurt⊠and his injuries werenât light. When he fought with that enormous fish monster, he seemed to have no great advantage.
I swore I wasnât worried about him, but the professionalism of being a biologist made it a habit for me. I unconsciously narrowed my eyes to examine the condition of this beastâs injuries, and as though he sensed my thoughts, Agares stooped down. Water streamed down his drenched hair in front of me, making my vision blurry. Through his mottled shadow, I sensed that his chin had drawn closer to my forehead. His webbed hands laid on my nape, manipulating my head to rest upon his chest.Â
âHey, buddy, where are you hurt?â. The scent of blood hit me in the face, so I couldnât bear it and asked. He replied to me in a low voice that reverberated through his chest and into my ears, but before I was able to make out what he had said, a high pitched hiss that I never heard before resonated in the distance.
Agares raised his head vigilantly, and made the same siren sound with a wide open mouth, but his voice, was heavier and lower, sounding like a violin played with multiple stresses. Upon hearing this, I mistakenly thought it was thunder before a storm. And it made me feel extremely dizzy at the same time. This led me to wonder whether merfolkâsâ sound-waves hold a frequency that enables them to produce a superior destructive force, so much that these sound-waves it could be used to attack the  cranial nerves of its victim.
I immediately covered my ears and looked around. I found that the red-haired merman hadnât escaped. Instead, he used his tail to support himself. He stood upright in the water with his claws at his sides, unwilling to leave matters like that. His attitude was like he was going to launch an attack at any given time, as if he had found out the condition of Agaresâs injuries and was determined to win. His expression was somewhat haughty, and his eyes held a fire, burning with a demonic glow as he stared towards my direction.Â
Agares let go of his hold on me and stood up, not in the least bit backing down without a fight. From underneath the water, his tail stirred a long path vertically upward before it broke through the surface, forming a horizontal line right in front of me as though creating a barrier to separate me from the red-haired merman.Â
I immediately took notice that this mermanâs tail was much shorter in comparison to Agaresâs extraodinary long tail. Perhaps this had to do with a Mermaidâs age. Agares was probably a powerful senior merman. If saying that the merfolk population system was akin to a lionsâ, I would wholeheartedly believe that Agares might be the leader of the merfolk population. If supposing that Agares was defeated, then it would mean that he could be exiled and would suffer miserably.Â
I think I might have OCD for me to think about this matter in such a tense situation right now but in fact my heart was threatening to jump out of my chest, because from the start, I wouldnât be able to stop the battle that was on the verge of breaking out between these two beasts!
