Through the crack, my vision was directed towards the vast sea. To my surprise, I saw that dark clouds hung overhead around the surroundings, floating closely to the seaās surface as if they were plastered onto it. The accumulation of identical-looking dark clouds followed along the boatās direction, looking as if they were a squad of people who had been well-trained to fly aircraft.
There was absolutely no reason for the pirate ship to be following the flock of birds, but these migrating birds relied on the natural magnetic field of the environment to determine the direction they were going. So for this inconceivable phenomenon to appear, the only possible explanation was that there was a much bigger magnetic field, stronger than the Earthās, that was placed on this ship. Not only did this force influence the birdsā flight, it even altered the shipās course of direction!
I recalled what Agares had said previously, and I couldnāt help but stare at the outline of his sharp face, which was tilting to one side. Honestly, it was hard to believe that merfolk possessed such tremendous strength that exceeded the limits of what one would consider normal. It had really completely surpassed my imagination. I said to him, āThisāthis is your doingā¦ā¦ā I swallowed dryly and asked, āWhere do you intend to bring us to?āAgares didnāt immediately respond to my question, and his long eyelashes hung low on his cheeks. His gaze seemed to be fading into the immeasurable cloud-like depths, arriving at the distant end of the sea before submerging deeper back into the bottomless abyss, as if he was immersed in the memories of the distant past. It took a good while before he murmured in a low voice, āLemegetonā¦ā
My whole body shook as every part of my body vibrated with excitement.
I had heard of this word before, and you could even say that I was extremely familiar with it. This was a legend that centered on an island that was said to have never existed. However, once I heard about it, I believed in its existence from the beginning to the end and even went over a lot of data about it from books and magazines.Ā
I suspected that it was a historical island left behind on the surface of the sea by Atlantis that had sunk to the bottom of the sea, but then I had never stepped foot into the island, as I had no access to it. So in the end, I couldnāt find any evidence to support that the island existed, thus my speculation was still just a speculation.Ā Ā
Everything began during the early stages of my research project on merfolk. I paid a visit to a scientist, who had spent many years on a mission to look for nuclear bombs with the Soviet Union Exploration shipāProfessor Vinogreider.
I recalled Professor Vinogreider clearly telling me that the island inhabited by this Mermaid was called āLemegetonā by them.Ā
It was a floating island that only appeared at a particular period on the surface of the sea, and when they came back after merely a couple days, it had already disappeared without a trace like a mirage. The Mermaid that was caught had snatched away their precious video recorder along with a crew member, and they mysteriously vanished all together, almost as if the Mermaid had never even appeared.Ā
Professor Vinogreider as unable to recover from this setback, and his written memoir soon was reduced to something as fake and untrue.
Among his several students I interviewed at that time, only I had remained unparalleled and firmly believed in his recollections. I even used his research methods based on his studies to find trails of merfolk, and this was one prerequisite that helped me obtain Rhineās recognition.
āLemegeton⦠Lemegeton!āĀ
I mumbled aloud under my breath, and my whole body felt like it would burst from the immense sense of delight that enveloped me. I felt like I had received enlightenment and plenty of fortune from the heavens. For a moment, I had forgotten that I was in an unfamiliar place, and it was only when Agares moved closer into my vicinity that I was then abruptly pulled out from my memories.
His eyes glimmered dimly with a trace of nervousness and excitement. His webbed hands caressed my cheek with great caution, as if I were a precious and fragile object. I subconsciously attempted to turn my face to hide from him, but couldnāt, as Agaresās lips kissed my ears, one by one, before moving onto my temples. In a deep, alluring voice, words flowed out from his mouth in low murmurs.
Ā āYou will like Lemegeton⦠But be careful⦠Do not leave⦠Cause you are deliciousā¦āĀ Ā
When the meaning behind his words clicked, the hair on my back stood on its ends in horror. Agares told me, that once we reached Lemegeton, I couldnāt leave his side. Was this implying that on that island, besides Agares, there were other merfolk?
All of the sudden I was aware, that while I was immersed in the joy of learning that this island existed, I had forgotten the negative side of things. Since Lemegeton was the habitat of merfolk, there would naturally be more of them around, and they were beasts like Agares. If the merman of the population there were also interested in human males⦠Oh my God!Ā \nPS: The Mermaid that Professor Veinograd and the crew met wasnāt Agares, so donāt make any absurd assumptions, haha. Throughout the entirety of a Mermaidās life, they only choose ONE spouse! Also just saying, the journey to the ancient Mermaid Island will be a very interesting and exciting process.
