Chapter 39: The day I went to summer festival. (3)
The appearance that the firework has illuminated, is the appearance that Iâve seen before from somewhere.
Beautiful facial features, short trimmed hair. And her slender figure, is wrapped around by a deep purple yukata.
The first thing that came into my mind is, the memory of when that figure chased me with all her might in the alley. And the next thing that came into my mind is, what Yui-chan has described as âA very attractive woman.â
âŚâŚThe only thing that matches, is only her appearance.
âMumumu? Mama whatâs wrong?â
Yui-chan pulled her sleeve, and just for a moment she seemed to be in a panic. But immediately she makes a smile, and speaks in a very model-like manner.
âNice to meet you. Thank you for always taking care of my daughter.â
Hohăź, so we gonna pretend like everything never happened?
Very well. I want to avoid anything troublesome too.
âNo no, I have to thank you too for having such a gentle girl like Yui-chan playing with Misaki while wearing sport shoes like this, knowing that makes me feels at ease unlike the person who dangerously runs full speed ahead wearing a high heel.â
Though I do said that I wants to avoid troublesome things, but funny things are always welcome.
Fu, it seems to work wonders. Maybe if someone heard this theyâll just think that theyâre just meaningless words, but in this place and time thereâs no other words thatâre more effective than this.
Honestly I donât hold any grudges toward her though.
Itâs just that thereâs a bit of pent-up feelings in my heart from getting involved in her nonsenses.
âŚâŚJust take a look at that face, sheâs pretending to be calm but her cheeks are twitching like crazy man. Uhyahahahaha thatâs so funny.
Well! Whatâcha gonna do!?
âRyo-kun!â
âWhatâs up, Yui-chan.â
âI think thereâs no honesty in what you just said right now!â
Eh, what, did I just got scolded?
âYes, I think so too. I completely do not understand what you just said at all.
God dammit you got the nerves to be taking the opportunity like that!
âIf you want to get mamaâs attention, then you have to use a more gentlemanly-words than that!â
âYes thatâs exactly right. If you want to attract my attention then, please do speak in a more gentlemanly manner.â
The parent is hiding behind her stuffy daughter while sneering and grinning.
This is completely cheating! How dare you used your own daughter as a shield like that!
Itâs Misaki turn now! Please become my shieldâŚâŚ No I canât do that!
To do something like using Misaki as a shield, I cannot do that!
Iâm so sorry Misaki. Please forgive this Ryo-kun of yours for having the thought of using you as a shield even for a moment MisakiâŚâŚ Wait, whereâs she looking atâŚâŚ oh the fireworks huh.
Well Iâve already expected this since the time I was looking at the starry sky, but this sure is really beautiful. If only thereâs no hinderances here itâd have been perfect butâŚâŚ It canât be helped. Just seeing Misaki being happy like that is already enough for me.
That aside, they said I have to speak more gentlemanly right. So all woman likes being spoken to in that manner huh? Well then letâs try it, Iâll try it out on Misaki by saying something like youâre even more beautiful than the fireworksâŚâŚ No no sheâs just a five years old there wonât be any effect on her, you sure are a dumb one me.
âFumufumu, I see.â
At my feet, Yui-chan is holding her ear with her hand while also nodding. Whatâs she doing?
âMama! Ryo-kun said that the fireworks are beautiful!â
âYes. These fireworks, anyone who see this would think that theyâre beautiful no matter what kind of person they are.â
âBut he also said that Mama is even more beautiful!â
I didnât say that at all though!?
Wait hold up did she just read my mind!?
âŚâŚI think something similar to this has happened before right. So both the parent and the child are espers huh.
âHaha, thatâs so ridiculous.â
Sheâs smiling mockingly at me whoâs still expressionless, suddenly she sighed. And in the next moment she wears a gentle smile instead, and while using that mask of her she look at Misaki. I reflexively stretch my hand out to hide Misaki behind it.
âWhat is it for?â
âNothing really. How about you look up instead of looking down? The fireworks are beautiful you know.â
âRyo-kun! You shouldnât say how about you look up but instead you should say how about you look at me instead? You know!â
âYui, please be quiet for a moment.â
âYui-chan, can you please shut up for a bit?â
âYaăźy! Your voice overlapped perfectly!â
â â âŚâŚ. â â
This look like it has gone off the rail somewhat. Actually I didnât mean to be hostile toward this suspicious person from the start, itâs just that I want to make fun of her because it seems funny thatâs all there is to itâŚâŚ No matter how hard I think about it it feels strange after all. How does it turned into this kind of mood? Is it because of the festival that her tension raises this high?
âMisaki-chan, thank you for always play with Yui.â
Hold up this person just since when!?
ââŚâŚWho?â
âIâm Yuiâs mama.â
ââŚâŚWho?â
Fuhahaha serves you right!
Good job Misaki! Do it more!
âMisaki! So Misaki has come to see the festival too!â
Dammit, thatâs a damn nice follow-up isnât it Yui-chan. Surely youâll grow up to be an important person in the future.
ââŚâŚMama?â
âUn! Sheâs my mama!â
After hearing what Yui-chan said, Misaki stares at the suspicious personâs face.
Then she takes a step back, before bowing her head.
âMisaki, nice meet you.â
Good job Misaki! But weâll have to fix your greeting for a bit soon!
âYes, nice to meet you as well. Misaki-chan, youâre very mature for your age.â
She said that, and then she glances at me.
Unlike the parent, I felt like I heard that.
âMama look! Fireworks shower!â
âYes, Itâs very beautiful. Yui really likes the fireworks shower arenât you.â
I also look up at the sky as they mentioned it. And there it is, as if the night sky has been covered by seven-colored curtains the light spectacle spread far. Countless light spots slowly falls down over the wide sky, it is exactly as if itâs a shower. Its naming is very cute just like Yui-chanâs name.
ââŚâŚâ
Unlike her parent, I look at the back of her head when I thought that and immediately she glares back at me. As I thought sheâs an esper for sure.
That aside, Iâve met this suspicious person many times by unpleasant coincidence, and this time as well that Iâve heard her talking by another unpleasant coincidenceâŚâŚ But somehow her impression this time is different. How should I put this, sheâs in a good mood. Is it because the kids are here? Maybe Iâm also the same, thatâs why I can understand it a little bit.
And while Iâm thinking about stuff, Misaki and Yui-chan and also her mother are standing alongside each other watching the fireworks together. Yui-chan is between the two, yelling yayăź yayăźÂ energetically. And every time she yells Misaki would only respond with a small nod, but on contrary the suspicious person would always give her a big nod, and then smiled at Yui-chan, just by looking at her like this made my cheeks loose on its own.
Just by looking at these two you can see just how close their relationship as parent and child is. And that is exactly why I always have a question in my mind, about why she prioritize her works first rather than attending the sports meeting or any other events that was meant for her precious daughter.
To be refusing all of the events like thatâŚâŚ Maybe theyâre actually not that sweet after all.
ââŚâŚIâm very surprised.â
And while the kids are being fascinated by the fireworks, the suspicious person separated from the two and walks over next to me.
âEh, what? Sorry, I didnât listen to that.â
âI said I was surprised. I canât believe it, to think, that youâre Misaki-chan father like this.â
âIâm going to reply you back with the same thing you just said to me.â
ââŚâŚThat makes sense. Yui doesnât look like me in one bit after all.â
Is that so? If you thinks really hard about it your face look about the same isnât it?
Well sure the face doesnât look exactly like her, but sheâs still just a kid though.
âDid your wife run out on you?â
And suddenly she asked for the confirmation of such a difficult topic and with the worst possible choices of words like that. As I thought I canât ever be friend with this person after all.
âThe same goes to you too, did your husband deserted you?â
âYes, he has deserted me. Iâve never met him even once since I started living together with Yui.â
This is just her replying half-assedly right. She doesnât feel like wanting to answer that or something?
âIâm just like yours. She has deserted me quite splendidly.â
âI see. Then, I have something to consult with you.â
Youâre going to consult me with this settingâŚâŚ?
No, thatâsâŚâŚ No no, but still, eh, ehhhhhhhâŚâŚ
Visit wuxiaworld.eu for extra chapters.
âWell, Iâll at least listen to what you have to say.â
Dammit, even though I donât have any romantic feelings toward her at all but itâs because of her good-looking face that made my heart throbsâŚâŚ Well, just kidding. Iâm sure she just wants to consult about something business-related.
âMisaki-chan, does she ever have behaved in a manner that indicates sheâs still thinking about her mother?â
âŚâŚSeems like, itâs not about business after all.
âWho knows, Misaki isnât the type to show her emotions that much too so I donât really know. But, I think she still thinks about thatâŚâŚ Is it that, Yui-chan is also the same?â
âNo, I feel like she doesnât really thinks about it that much.â
After inhaling a deep breath, she speaks in a lower tone.
âThat girl, she isnât really concerned about it. That is why, I feel uneasy about it.â
Itâd be better if her daughter didnât think about it, but it seems like that she thinks otherwise. As for me until a while ago, Iâve always thought that Misaki isnât really concerned about her mother at all. But thatâs a mistake. And since then, Misaki has never show her emotions that sheâs concerned about her mother, but that shouldnât be the case at all. Surely even if she doesnât show it outside, but surely sometime somewhere, the thought of her mother has flashed into her mind once even if itâs just for a moment.
And she too, maybe sheâs thinking the same thing as me.
ââŚâŚIs that so.â
She look at me for a moment, and then muttered as if to reply to me.
âWait, did I say something just now?â
âNo, you didnât say anything.â
âI see. By the way, can I ask you about something too?â
âYes, go ahead.â
âAbout your work, are you that busy?.
I was finally able to ask the question that was in my mind for a long time.
She looks into my eyes with serious expression before speaking.
âJust, what kind of face has Yui made?â
âSame as now.â
I prompt her to take a look at Yui-chan whoâs talking with Misaki energetically while watching the fireworks together.
âBut, sometimes she looks like sheâs lonely.â
ââŚâŚâŚâŚâ
She didnât reply back. And when I look at her, sheâs casting her eyes downward. I lost all of my words in such atmosphere. I donât really understand the reasons but, I felt the heaviness in her heart.
I want to say something out.
But should it be a question, an answer, or a consolation.
But all in all, nothing came into my mind.
In my head is just pure white, and the sound of fireworks rang inside my head one after another.
I absolutely have to say something, I at least can understand that much. Thatâs why, I tried to forcibly open my mouth and try to make a voice. But, as if to remind me âare you really going to speak it out even though you know itâs such an obscure thingâ or something like that, an incredibly loud noise interrupted me.
âOhď˝my oh myď˝, Isnât that Tosaki-san over thereď˝â
Itâs Sato.
âSato-san, it has been a long time.â
âYes. And about your work, great work on your workď˝â
âAnd today, youâre with your family?â
âIâve had my husband to take care of the children already. As for me, I came here because I saw Tosaki-san after all.â
âMy my. Iâm also the same, today I bring my daughter here as well.â
âOh myď˝, Yui-chan, surely she must be very happy.â
As I thought the way this obaa-san talks is really irritating.
But the suspicious person-san, sheâs very calm indeed as expected of how the normal member of the society behaves. But compare to how she behaves just now this one feels like itâs very business-like and it feels very uncomfortable butâŚâŚ Well, maybe itâs just my imagination.
âOh thatâs right, are you able to attend the next parents meeting?â
âIâd like to but, I already have an appointment on that day.â
âThat is very unfortunate. Tosaki-san. Even though you loves your daughter so much that you gives her the same name as yours, but youâre not going to attend the meeting thatâs for your daughter sake? Oh dear, thatâs so silly of me to say something sarcastic like that. I never meant for it to have that kind of meaning you know?â
Thatâs a lie, thatâs absolutely a sarcasm right there.
But wait so this suspicious personâs name is Yui1Â huh. But to think that the mother that gives her daughter the same name actually exists like this it surprised me.
âIâve to deeply apologize about that, but Iâm still a new comer in the company, so Iâm not in the place to freely rest as I see fit.â
âOh my, that reminded me youâre really young arenât you. Was it twenty three yes?â
You gotta be kidding me!?
Eh, this person is at the same age as me!? Thatâs the most shocking thing of today!!
âYes. I also did wishes to participate butâŚâŚ It is truly unfortunate.â
âI see. And Tendou-san, youâre going to attend the next one as well yes?â
âEh, ah, oh, no, yes. of course.â
Crap, that was too sudden for me.
âWell then, I wish to meet you again soon.â
âYes, same here.â
See you thenď˝, said Sato before leaving.
âŚâŚWhat a storm-like obaa-san she is.
Then thereâs only me and the suspicious person left. After I see Sato off, I sighed and become relaxed. And as if that was a signal of some kind, the suspicious person opens her mouth.
âLet us get back to Yui soonâ
ââŚâŚYeah right.â
I nodded,
âWait the Yui you said just now, did you mean yourself?â
âI mean my daughter, just what kind of context leads you to that thought.â
She denied with a slightly harsh tone, before swiftly walks ahead of me. And while Iâm walking behind her, I thought, arenât we kinda sort of getting along somewhat?
