CHAPTER 39 – AND THEN AS USUAL
In the morning, the still depressed Dirkhert was poking the salad with his fork, not eating a bit.
「Dirk-sama, are you not eating the breakfast?」

He eats a mouthful when asked, but his hand stops again after that.
「It’s okay to put the meal aside if you are not going to eat anymore, you know?」
Then, Dirkhert puts the fork which he was holding for a long time down and turns towards Meluerina. His eyes are on the verge of crying.

 Nee, Melu. Are we leaving this village early because of Dirk?」
「That’s incorrect」
「Then, why? Why are we leaving early?」
「Because I may murder that woman in anger if we stay any longer」

Dirkhert who was certain that it was his fault tilts his head at Meluerina’s words. Murder, is an excessive word. But, because Deologus told Dirkhert almost every day while training back at the castle『Please train while thinking that you either kill or be killed』, the words that left from Meluerina’s mouth wasn’t too excessive for him.
Therefore, he was aware that there is a person that Meluerina doesn’t like.
「I see~ Then it’s not because of Dirk~」
He must have been worried all this time that it was his fault. If not, he wouldn’t start eating the breakfast heartily as soon as he understood.
「Vol, carrot ahh~」
「Yes, yes」
Dirkhert pushes all carrots in the salad and soup to Volsung and cleanly finishes eating the little meal prepared specially for him.
Because the little Maou-sama’s mood has returned in some way or another, Meluerina and Volsung were feeling relieved.
Thank you for the meal, Dirkhert joins his small hands after finishing the meal, gets down from the chair, walks up to Meluerina and pulls on the hem of her clothes.
「Nee, Melu. Will Chocola and others recover?」

When Meluerina’s hand was pulled while she was slowly drinking her tea, she was a little troubled, but a smile floated on her face. She returned together with Dirkhert to the room.
By the way, Volsung saw the two off while slowly enjoying his meal and tea.
