Chapter 61.2 \n<h1>Episode 61 – Sea Serpent Girl and Tyrannosaurus Girl (part 2)</h1>\n
“I’ve lived a long time, and the longer you live, the more you interact with other monsters. Do you want me to introduce them? Sacrifice them? Anything, if it’s for my master.”
“Please don’t say ‘sacrifice’, it doesn’t sound right…”
Alta has been dispatching maids all over on my behalf, however, since their cover is that they act as members of a commerce guild, their destinations were usually towns and villages, whereas powerful monsters tend to live away from humans, so it’s not like they run into each other too often.
There’s also Claude’s party acting as adventurers, but there are only so many of them, and it’s not like I can send them away to explore some remote regions all the time. Well, it’s not like there aren’t other adventures who randomly run into powerful monsters from time to time, so it might be a good idea to gather information that way.
“It certainly sound interesting, but are you okay with that? Wouldn’t that be like selling out your friends?”
I’m not gonna make you betray your friends, even if you are my follower.
“Not really, no. It’s not like we’re friends or anything… I’ve fought most of them at least once before, and I’m sure I could take them down if I had to.”
“Surprisingly straightforward, aren’t you?”
“That’s just how monsters interact with each other. You can either defeat them, or make them your followers without worrying about it too much.”
So they interact, but not always in a friendly way. Well, I guess there’s no problem then.
“All right. So, is there anyone near here that you know?”
“Let me think… There’s a Harpy Queen living at a place called Ende Mountain, a little north of the lake.”
It’s a bird-type monster, also known as a harpy or harpy. (ED: they use different ways to write down the sound of the English word ‘harpy’ here, using Japanese Kana) Although it mostly looks like a bird, its body and face is that of a human woman. It might be easier to understand if I say that it’s like a woman with her arms and legs replaced with wings and legs of a bird of prey.
Basically, they are monsters that live in groups, where one harpy acts as the leader. However, the leader doesn’t have to be a ‘Harpy Queen (Rare)’. The chances of that are actually quite low.
Harpies are usually just spawned like normal monsters, but they can also hatch from eggs laid by the Harpy Queen. What I wonder is, how do they reproduce, if all of them are female. Do they attack males of other species?
A: “The queen alone can lay eggs. It can lay fertilized or unfertilized eggs at will.”
…What’s with that bizarre ecology?
Well, whatever. It’s a waste of time to think about the biology of monsters in this world.
“Okay, lets go add a Harpy to my followers.”
“Right now?”
“Yes. We’re free today, but the others are busy with their own stuff, so let’s just go without them.”
“Yes, as you wish, Jin-sama.”
“Oh!”
“Oh♪”
This is how the five of us: me, Maria, Dora, Tiramisu and Maple, ended up going to Mount Ende where the Harpy Queen was.
We were going to fly, but there was one problem.
“Too heavy!”
“…☆”
Tiramisu was heavier than expected.\n
Me, Dora, and Maple can fly, so, when we were talking about who would take Maria and Tiramisu, Maple said, “I can carry two people” so I left it to her, and this is the result.
ED Reminder: Dora is a Dragonewt, while Jin has a flying cloak, ‘Wings of The Immortal – Nosferatu‘.
It seems that your weight doesn’t change when you use ‘Transformation’, and Maple could not support the weight of the Tyrannosaurus sitting on her back.
Tiramisu didn’t like to change her form, so I didn’t get a chance to see it yet, but as a Tyrannosaurus, she must have weighed several hundred kilograms even as a child. That’s pretty heavy.
Tiramisu herself though wasn’t actually aware of this, so when she found out how much she actually weighed, she got pretty depressed. From the looks of it, she must have been a woman before she died.
“I’ll just carry you with Nosferatu…”
“Please…☆”
Tiramisu’s tension also dropped.
I wrapped Nosferatu’s edge around Tiramisu, before casting ‘Flight’ to make us float in the air.
“The MP consumption is higher than usual. It seems like it changes based on weight.”
Of course, even though the MP consumption increased, it’s still a small amount in the grand scheme of things, and with ‘MP Recovery’, it shouldn’t be a problem unless you jump around a lot.
“…☆”
Without saying a word, Tiramisu was lifted from the ground.
“Well then, shall we get going?”
“As you wish.”
“Let’s go!”
“Yes.”
“…☆”
Tiramisu was completely silent, which scared me a bit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We kept flying for the next 10 minutes.
“Why are you both so fast?”
The out-of-breath Maple in her Sea Serpent form asked me while struggling to keep up with me and Dora.
If I had to say, it’s probably because mine and Dora’s ‘Flight’ skill is at level 10, while Maple’s is only at level 2. As expected, it makes a big difference.
“It’s probably the difference in skill points.“
“That’s impossible! How many years do you think I’ve been alive?”
“Wasn’t it 694?”
“Uh…, when I’m with master, my common sense is starting to fall apart”
“It happens all the time, you know?”
“Of course, it’s Jin-sama we’re talking about.”\nDora and Maria also chimed in.
“I’m heavy…☆ I’m heavy…☆”
And Tiramisu was still muttering to herself. After getting wrapped in Nosferatu, she has completely lost herself. As a side note, Tiramisu is not wearing any underwear at the moment, so she must look quite outrageous from behind.
As I was thinking about something weird, I noticed a red dot approaching on the mini-map. It’s at the same altitude as we are, so I guess it’s a flying monster.
Bright FalconLV40Skills: <Flight LV4><Light Magic Boost LV3><Light Magic Resistance LV3><Light Beam LV4>Note: A glowing falcon. Touching it with bare hands will cause damage.
When I checked its details, it turned out to be a bird-type monster.
I’ve never seen one before, but it looks like Claude and his party have defeated one already.
“Kigya!”
It seems that we’ve entered the Bright Falcon’s territory. Well, there’s no reason to avoid it, so let’s just keep flying.
“That’s a Bright Falcon, isn’t it? I can beat it, but it’s gonna be a bit hard to fight in the air.”
“Is that so? I think it’s pretty easy to defeat.”
“Honey, please let Tira take care of that monster♪”
“What? How?”
Tiramisu got weirdly motivated, but what can she even do while being carried by Nosferatu?
“If you hold me up in front of you, I can hit it when it comes close☆”
“Is that okay? Can you even fight like that?”
“Yeah, I don’t know anything about weapons, so I think I’m more comfortable with just punching☆”
Even though she looks cute, she seems to have a pretty rough fighting style. Well, maybe it’s fitting for a Tyrannosaurus…
By the way, Tiramisu’s status is surprisingly high. It’s honestly hard to believe that she’s level 1 and has just been born… It’s about the same as the Sea Serpent, Maple’s.
I lifted Tiramisu in front of me as I was told. The Bright Falcon seemed to have no intention of backing down, so it rushed straight in.
“GIGAAH!”
Tira’s fist struck the Bright Falcon straight in the face, and soon, its HP dropped to zero. I collected the falling Bright Falcon into my Inventory.
“Whew, I feel so refreshed♪”
“With a single blow?”
A slightly more radiant Tiramisu was in direct contrast with the startled face of the Sea Serpent.
I’m sure it made for a great stress reliever.
“So, how was your first battle?”\n\nIf I can get her to learn ‘Ninjutsu’ on top of that, she could totally make a living as an assassin. Well, I guess I already have the ‘Assassination’ skill, but still…
Thanks to the pair leading the way and getting rid of all the monsters, the rest of us didn’t really get to do much. I’m actually giving Dora a piggyback ride at the moment. You might say it’s insane to carry a little girl on your shoulders in the middle of a mountain where monsters are rampant, but honestly, I did the same thing in the labyrinth, so it’s not a big deal.
“Tiramisu is pretty tough.”
“That’s right. She’s doing pretty good.”
To be honest, the sight of a young girl who looks like an anime character slaughtering monsters in an outright brawl is not without a slight sense of incongruity. That being said, Dora, whom I’m carrying on my shoulders, and Mio, who isn’t here right now, are pretty much the same, so I can’t really complain about it.
Following the two in the front, we continued walking leisurely up the mountain until we finally came close to where the harpies lived.
“We’re almost there.”
“Right. Hey, Maria, Tiramisu. Don’t kill the harpies.”
“Yes, I understand.”
“What? Why☆”
At times like this, Maria doesn’t hesitate to follow orders. However, it was rather sudden, so Tiramisu asked me why.
“We’re going to tame the Harpy Queen. It doesn’t feel good to kill the subordinates of the monster I’m about to tame, does it?”
“I wonder ☆ Maybe ☆ Yeah, I’ll try not to kill them♪”
I’m glad I got through to her.
Actually, back when I tamed Tamo-san, an ordinary slime that happened to be nearby was also killed by us. It’s good that Tamo-san didn’t care, but it’s better to hold back just in case.
“Kyui!”
A few steps after I gave them the order, I heard a cry that must have belonged to Harpy.
It seems that we’ve finally arrived at their nest.
*************************************************************
Tiramisu’s Backstory:
There are two types of reincarnated people: those who have all their memories from before they were born, like Mio, and those who have some memories they can’t remember, like Tiramisu.
Mio’s case is actually quite rare, and most of them live out their lives without ever realizing that they were reincarnated, just that they have some strange memories.
Tiramisu’s case is a little bit special, as she has memories of a Tyrannosaurus mixed in with her normal human memories. (Normally, this would not happen, but because of Jin, a strange phenomenon occurred.)
Because of this, she is overly afraid of Jin and chooses to flatter him.
I feel sorry for Tiramisu, whose backstory is revealed in a place like this.
*************************************************************
Next one is a staple. A Harpy. And it’s a queen.
It’s another cute monster girl (already confirmed). For now, Maple is a bit too old to be called Jin’s daughter, while Tira is too young (at 0 years old).
In fact, I’ve already written four volumes, but not a single monster girl of Jin’s age has appeared.
Also, Tamo-san will not be getting a human form. And even if they did, they would be wearing a suit and sunglasses. They are quite a suspicious person in the end.
