Chapter 29 - Confrontation With the Captain

“He sure resolves this elegantly. Not only did he demonstrate his strength in front of everyone, he also made sure not to create any rift between him and his Division member. It seems like the vacancy in the Captain’s seat will be taken care of soon.” Kyōraku Shunsui said as he looked at Kimura Muyang.

“Yes, Genryūsai-sensei can at least rest easy now.”

Ukitake Jūshirō was already right beside Kyōraku Shunsui, watching Kimura Muyang before Kyōraku Shunsui realized it.

“Indeed, Gotei 13 is really short on capable Shinigami recently that Captain seat has been going through more change lately. Old Yamamoto must have had a rough time dealing with this problem.” Kyōraku Shunsui said as he turned his head towards Ukitake Jūshirō. “You haven’t been looking well lately. Old Yamamoto is worried, you know.”

“Sensei is?” Ukitake Jūshirō said apologetically.

“Don’t worry. It’s not your fault. Just take care of your health, you hear me?”

“Alright.” Ukitake Jūshirō said. He then shifted his gaze towards the graduating students in the square. “I can’t help but feel that Soul Society will be fine when I see those energetic students.”

Both Ukitake Jūshirō and Kyōraku Shunsui had a fleeting look in their eyes as they looked at the students in the square. They’ve lived for quite a while, so they couldn’t help but appreciate this kind of moment.

Right when Kimura Muyang’s Reiatsu burst out…

1st Division, Captain’s Office.

Captain-Commander Yamamoto, whose eyes were partially closed slit most of the time, suddenly opened wide.

“Chōjirō, I heard that Hikifune recruited him as the 12th Division Lieutenant. As a fellow Lieutenant, be sure to look out for him so that he does not end up like Kimura Kazuya.”

“I know, I know. Still, though, it’s just a Lieutenant. No need to make a big deal out of it. I do admit that he’s good, though” Waving his hand casually, Yoruichi didn’t seem to care about it at all.

Hearing his daughter’s response, Shihōin Masaaki couldn’t help but smile wryly. His daughter was talented, but her personality is the problem. He couldn’t even imagine leaving the Shihōin Clan to her right now.

“Sōjun, did you feel that Reiatsu?”

“Yes, Otou-sama.”

“It sure intense, but not as good as yours. Be sure to work hard, so you don’t embarrass the Kuchiki Clan.”

“Understood, Otou-sama.”

Kuchiki Ginrei knew that his son neither liked fighting nor was he good at it, but since he was the next Kuchiki Clan’s head, he was destined to bring glory to Kuchiki Clan since birth.

Meanwhile, on the square, the graduates and those who were overwhelmed by Kimura Muyang’s Reiatsu slowly got back on their feet, but their eyes were spinning. Watanabe Ichiro shed the tears of humiliation. Even though his household wasn’t as well-known as the Four Noble Houses, it was one of the Noble Family nonetheless, and he has displayed extraordinary talent since birth, so everyone around him had high hopes for him. However, ever since Kimura Muyang came, no one fawned over him anymore. Even though Kimura Muyang rarely attended classes after three months of his enrollment, he still became the centre of attention. Even though both of them didn’t know each other, Watanabe Ichiro has always considered Kimura Muyang as his rival, but what happened just now completely crushed his pride.

Kimura Muyang became a Lieutenant with Reiatsu that rivalled a Captain’s. Moreover, he was so good at Zanjutsu that he managed to defeat a former Lieutenant with Zanjutsu alone. Even though his other Zankensoki wasn’t as good as his Zanjutsu, it was still much better than most students.

“I’m such a trash compared to him!!”

“Don’t let it get to you, Ichiro. You are not inferior to anyone. You just have to believe in yourself.” A big and gentle hand patted Watanabe Ichiro’s shoulder.

“Uncle!” Watanabe Ichiro exclaimed when he saw a muscular figure around Kuruyashiki Kenpachi’s height with short hair and the intimidating atmosphere around him. The most striking thing out of it was the white Haori he wore.

“Yo, If it isn’t this the 5th Division Captain, Watanabe Keiryū.” Kyōraku Shunsui greeted the figure who just came with a smile even though there was no trace of joy at all from his tone.

“Ah, Captain Kyōraku, you didn’t bring your Lieutenant along today? If I recall correctly, her name was Lisa Yadōmaru, right? I remember she was such a cute girl.”

Hearing what Watanabe Keiryū said, Kuruyashiki Kenpachi frowned. Even the kind-hearted Ukitake Jūshirō did so too. It seemed that they didn’t particularly get along with him.

Kyōraku Shunsui then replied, still with a smile on his face: “Well, it’s important to let my subordinate rest from time to time.”

“Hmph! ”

Watanabe Keiryū grunted when he heard Kyōraku Shunsui’s answer and immediately turned towards Kimura Muyang asked in an unfriendly tone: “Are you Kimura Muyang?”

Although the Captain who just came didn’t seem so friendly to him, he had no reason to offend a Captain for such a trivial matter, so he nodded and asked politely, “Yes, is there anything I can help you, Captain Watanabe?”

“No, but I do have a little advice for you.” There was a brief pause before Watanabe Keiryū looked at Kimura Muyang with disdain. “If that’s all you got, then you better not get ahead of yourself. Although your Reiatsu is decent, a Captain’s strength is beyond your wildest imagination. If you think you’ve reached a Captain’s level with that strength of yours, then you’re completely mistaken.”

Seeing this nobody that didn’t even show up in the anime blabbing whatever he wanted, a fire was lit in Kimura Muyang’s heart.

“You…” Kimura Muyang glared at Watanabe Keiryū. He tried his best to contain his anger, but it seemed that he was at his limit.

Watanabe Keiryū leered at Kimura Muyang and mockingly said: “Are you planning to challenge a Captain? First of all, it’s a crime, and secondly, do you think you stand a chance against me?”

The other three Captains didn’t seem too pleased seeing a Captain humiliated a Lieutenant in public for no reason. They were so embarrassed by this behaviour.

“You…” Kimura Muyang snapped and immediately held his Zanpakuto. No one has ever humiliated him to this extent.

Seeing what Kimura Muyang did, everyone couldn’t help but gasp as they thought would he actually fight a Captain?

Everything happened too fast that no one could process what was happening anymore.
