v2c40 - Resuming the Search on the Village and Shelly Back Sober
“Then, let’s go explore the village again today.”
Yesterday, we were able to get some orc meat while checking out the village Shelly told us about.
Orcs are bipedal pigs, so they are different from assassin rabbits, and they are delicious both boiled and roasted.
Instead of replenishing such pork …… we decided to go to the remains of the village to find new monsters and be stronger.
Today we all went into the underground cave again, and we went to Shelly’s shrine first…
“Huh? Shelly is not here?”
For some reason, she was not there.
She doesn’t have anything special to do, but something must have happened.
“Maybe she couldn’t show her face because of her drunken and abominable behavior yesterday?”
“Maybe it’s because of the persistent sermon that Miss Ellie gave her?”
“Persistent, you say …… Ahhh, yeah. I didn’t feel that she was sorry at all, so I might’ve said a lot of things to her.”

Monica is frowning, but did something like that happen yesterday?
Ellie dragged Monica and Shelly away and never came back, so Nina, Lydia and I were talking about what to request on our next scheduled contact.
Incidentally, Nina said a large bag would be helpful, and Lydia said she wanted soap and towels.
We’ve had soap and shampoo and stuff like that sent to me before, but since there are a lot of women, they consume a lot.

“I wonder if Shelly’s is in there? Nina will go check.”
Without any time to stop her, Nina approached the shrine and peeked inside.
…… Is it okay to enter a place where something like this is enshrined? While I was wondering about that, Nina came back.

“I see. Well, I guess it’s fine if she’s okay.”
“Okay. I think she is fine because she was rolling around inside holding her head and saying ‘Ahhhhhhhh……’.”
I wonder if that’s really what we call “fine”?
Well, I’ll bring her something else that Shelly will like …… Oh, right, it’s alcohol.
I’ll think about it some other time, and then we headed west.
Soon we saw the village from yesterday.
“[Stone Wall].”
Suddenly, Lydia creates a wall in front of us.
Immediately after that, a series of loud noises echoed through the air, as if something was colliding with us.
“Mr. Alex! There are a large number of orcs in front of the village! They’re probably using some kind of catapult to send rocks flying.”
“I see what you mean. Ellie, can you make it from this distance?”
“If it’s a single target. With ranged magic, I’d have to get a little closer.”
“I understand. I’ll charge in while protecting Ellie. Lydia, you stay here and defend against long-range attacks. Monica and Nina, take out the monsters approaching here.”
I use my defense skill again on Ellie just in case, and I start running at the right time.
With the lighting on my shield, there is a concentrated fire coming at me.

I used a skill that sacrifice agility to increase defense to ensure protection.
I supported my shield with both arms to resist the attacks, and just as the projectiles stopped, Ellie, who had been hiding behind me, jumped out.

Ellie’s ranged attack magic froze the Orc horde, and the stones that had been flying toward them fell.
But there seemed to be quite a few of them, and although their numbers had dwindled, the stone throwing resumed…

We moved closer to the village and destroyed the orcs with Ellie’s magic, and just in case, we also destroyed the catapult.
Just when we were relieved that the projectile attack was over…
“Big brother! Help us! Monica is in trouble!”
Nina’s cries were heard from behind.
I looked behind me to see what was going on, and saw that the flame magic Monica was probably using was reflecting the image of an orc about two times larger than normal.
Perhaps he is the boss of the orcs.
“A diversion!? Orcs are doing that!? There’s also the catapult, but what’s going on here!?”
Normally, orcs are supposed to be lowly monsters that live on instinct, thinking only of their appetites and sexual desires.
However, there are many inexplicable things like using catapults or using diversionary tactics to separate us.
But now is not the time to think about that, and save Monica and the others anyway.

“Alex …… could that possibly be the Orc King!?”
“Orc King!? The S-class monster!?”
Ellie realizes what the giant orc is.
But the presence of the Orc King means…
“What!? Monica, why are you throwing away your sword!?”

Monica seems to have been thrown into a confused state by the Orc Mage, a monster that uses dark magic and is thought to be on the Orc-King’s side.
