v1c4 - While looking around the house with Lydia, a disaster-class monster appears!
When I opened the door and looked outside, there was really nothing.
Not a town or village, not even a forest or mountain, just this house on a completely vacant plot of land.
“…… What the heck is going on!? How did they build this house in the middle of nowhere?”
“What? Mr. Alex. Is that what you are concerned about in this situation!? I don’t know who it is …… but it seems like there are some amazing people who can use transference magic, so they must have sent this house? I’m not an expert in that line of magic, so I’m just guessing.”
Lydia explained the situation to me in shock, but even I was surprised and disturbed by the unexpected situation.
I don’t think I would have expected to find nothing so far.
Lydia probably thought she would be able to see a town or forest in the distance, so she was going to walk there anyway.
But there was nothing there, so she was at a loss as to which direction to go.
“That’s right, let’s look at the other side of the house. There must be a town on the other side.”
“Y-You’re right. There must be a clue to know as to where we are at least!”
I went around to the other side of the house, hoping for a glimmer of hope.
“Nothing …… There’s nothing. Which should I go so that I can go back to the Elven Forest!?”
This side was exactly the same, just a horizon.
However, there are two differences from the door side.
One, there was what would have been a reasonably sized field ……
There was a broken fence and what appeared to be farm tools that had been left behind by the farmers who had run away before.
And the other was…
“Lydia! There’s a monster! Get behind me.”
There was a black beast I had never seen before.
“What!? …… M-Mr. Alex! That demon is ……”
“[Devotion]!”
Lydia is about to say something, but I activates the paladin’s higher defense skill first.
This is the skill I used to use on Ellie and the others whenever we were in battle, and I made it so that if Lydia was attacked, I would take the pain.
“Mr. Alex!? This skill!?”

“Paladin’s defensive skills! In the unlikely event that that monster attacks Lydia, I will shoulder the damage, don’t worry!”
“Paladin!? You mean that incredibly rare job Paladin!? …… No, before that, it’s that monster. Mr. Alex, that monster has a weakness to the holy attribute! Can you attack with any holy attribute!”
“I’m on it! …… [Holy Cross]!”
The slash was likened to a cross, and it fired two vertical and horizontal shots, attacking the black beast.
“[The Spear of the Earth].”
Lydia covers me with an unfamiliar skill.
On the other hand, the black beast attacks with its fangs and claws, but is unable to destroy my shield.
“[Holy Cross]!”
With my third attack skill, I was able to defeat the black beast.
“W-Wow. To take down the Shadow Wolf all by yourself.”
“I didn’t do it alone. You attacked it too, didn’t you, Lydia? What’s a Shadow Wolf anyway? Does Lydia know about this monster?”
“Of course, a single Shadow Wolf once destroyed a village, it’s an incredibly powerful monster, you know!”
“What? Is that the infamous Shadow Wolf?”
“I attacked it with spirit magic just now, didn’t I? I created a spear of earth, but it was totally repelled. That was a clear indication of the Shadow Wolf’s characteristic of nullifying all attacks except those of the holy attribute.”
Now that I look closely, I can see that Lydia is shaking a little.
But if that beast is really a shadow wolf, it is only natural that she cannot stop trembling.
In some countries, a single Shadow Wolf is said to have wiped out an entire court mage corps, and it’s called a disaster-class monster.
“However, it’s amazing that you knew that the holy attribute is its weak point.”

I went inside the house first, and searched the small house with Lydia.
“So this is all that was found?”
We found only a box of sorted plant seeds, a plant illustrated book, various farming tools, and a few other items that may have belonged to the farmer who had been there in the past ……
“…… Huh? Wait a minute. Mr. Alex got the job to cultivate this place, didn’t he?”
“Oh, yeah?”
“Isn’t it impossible to cultivate this large area of land …… by yourself?”

Lydia was right, no matter how relaxing the work could be, setting aside exterminating monsters, I had never done farming.
Damn it …… I guess my judgment had been clouded by disappointment!
