“Then I’ll make a little gap to block the exit.”
“Yes, please.”
If there were monsters in this underground cave, it would be very bothersome for them to get out of the tunnel Nina had dug to the surface, so I asked Lydia to block the exit.
However, it was not completely closed as it was yesterday, but a little gap was opened so that the light from Nina’s glowing moss would reveal the location.
“I’ll take the lead, then Lydia. Can I leave Nina in charge of the rear section?”
“Yeah, I’m fine with it!”
“Then let’s go. It looks pretty big, so let’s go along the wall first.”
With the lighted shield facing forward, I walked along the wall.
This time, instead of the leather armor I wear during cultivating work, I put on my steel armor, which is my original equipment.
I hope that armor will not be used in the first place, but …… that idea was naive, apparently.

As I held up my sword and shield, I saw many thin legs in the light.
“Mr. Alex! It’s the Green Scorpion! That tail has a poison in it that can paralyze their opponent, so be careful!”

A large scorpion, about as tall as my waist, appeared, but as a paladin, abnormal attacks have little effect on me.
So, without hesitation, I lunged forward and sliced the scorpion’s body in half.
“Um is it also because Mr. Alex is a paladin …… that the poison doesn’t work on you?”
“That’s right. But that doesn’t mean it’s a perfect defense. Never mind that, the scorpion from earlier is here again!”
“…… Oh, Mr. Alex! There …… There are more than a dozen of them!”
“Kuh …… After all, unlike on the ground, there are many monsters!”
In general, monsters seem to prefer the dark, and some of them become more active at night or more powerful than during the day.
Therefore, it is likely that monsters are gathering in this lightless underground cave and reproducing in large numbers.
Fortunately, the monsters are not that strong, but there are many of them anyway.
It’s not so much as to use the trump card, but it’s a hassle.

Lydia uses magic to take down a large number of scorpions at once.
“You’re really good at this, Lydia.”
“No. Never mind that, Mr.Alex. Apparently, there is a monster that my magic didn’t work on.”
“Is that …… it?”
I looked where Lydia’s eyes were looking and saw a gray scorpion, about two times larger than the green scorpion, approaching.
However, it must be a scorpion, so I approach it all at once and cut it in two …… but I couldn’t!?
“Damn …… hard!? Even though I had Nina strengthen my sword!”
“Mr. Alex! Perhaps that is an Iron Scorpion …… I’ve read that it has an outer skin made of iron.”
“You mean I’m cutting a big iron armor!? That’s hard to do with a sword.”
Jobs such as Roland, Hero, who has many offensive skills, or Swordmaster, who specializes in swords, would probably be able to cut through iron with an ordinary sword.
But I am a paladin, and although I am strong against demons and demon tribes, I am not suited for attacking enemies whose weakness is not the holy attribute.
“Lydia. I’ll lure him away, can you do the magic attack?”
“Let’s see, insect-type monsters are weak against cold, so attacking them with the ice attribute is effective, but …… I’m not very good at ice-type magic.”
“I-I see. What about other magic?”

Lydia created a spear of earth from the ground, which seems to have caused a slight amount of damage, but it does not seem to have been very effective.
Fortunately, this monster seems to be a defense-oriented like me …… whose attack itself is not much of a problem.

Nina jumped out from behind and swung a pickaxe, easily piercing Iron Scorpion’s body.
“Mister! Attack through this hole to the inside of the monster!”

I attacked by thrusting my sword through the hole that Nina had made for me, and from there…

Through the widened hole, I was able to release my attack skill into the interior and finally defeat it.
“Nina, that’s amazing. How did you manage to break such a hard outer skin?”
