Pei Zhenās footsteps were faint, and he felt as if his soul was leaving his body; his mind was in a blur.
Someone was calling his name, it sounded anxious, but there was also a hint of happiness.
He lifted his head weakly, using all the effort he could muster, but all he could manage was to half-open his eyes to see a pair of hands.
The pair of hands lifted him up.
āLittle deity, look how you run. You frightened me.ā
Oh, it was Wang Youquan.
Pei Zhen couldnāt figure out what was wrong with himself. Under such circumstances, he somehow felt a tinge of anger and resentment. Why wasnāt it Fu Sichen who came looking for him?
Wang Youquan seemed to be in a hurry and was muttering about something that Pei Zhen didnāt quite catch.
The pain in his chest was spreading like fire, and it was engulfing him. Pei Zhen was beginning to feel like he couldnāt breathe.
At that point, he was struggling fiercely, and he was anxious to see Fu Sichen. Luckily, Wang Youquan was taking him to the hospital.
The hospital was buzzing with activity, and the atmosphere was frantic.
The people in white overcoats were busy, and their expressions were serious. They didnāt react much even when they saw Wang Youquan with the cat in his arms.
It was a life and death matter, and cute animals didnāt interest them at that point.
āSichen, Sichen.ā Wang Youquan forced his way into the room and wanted to ask about Pei Zhenās condition. Fu Sichen scrambled up and hurriedly grabbed the Persian cat.
āPei Pei, Pei Peiā¦ā His big hands encircled the cat. Fu Sichen bent over close, so close his lips were almost touching the catās ear. āDonāt leave me, donāt leave meā¦ā
Wisps of warm air carrying his subtle pleading reached past Pei Zhenās ears and left their marks on his heart.
It was madness.
And it is becoming very gay.
Before he passed out, Pei Zhen only had that thought in his head, and it was unreal.
āThe patientās condition has returned to normal.ā The doctor heaved a sigh of relief, his tone full of gladness. āBut heās still quite weak and needs good looking-after.ā
āYes, thank you, doctor.ā
Fu Sichenās voice was hoarse and low, loaded with irresistible appeal.
Pei Zhen moved his eyelids with some difficulty, forcing himself to wake up. He half-opened his eyes and saw a pair of pale hands.
The pair of hands was holding out a glass of water, and the voice of the handsā owner was pleasant and gentle. āBest Actor Fu, donāt worry. Pei Zhen will be fine.ā
āThatās right, Sichen.ā Wang Youquan was advising him by his side. āSince he survived, good fortune will follow. Pei Zhen will surely make it through.ā
Everything sounded good.
It was questionable whether it consoled Fu Sichen, but since the glass of water had been thrust in his face, it seemed too much not to take it.
He took a sip.
Fu Sichen did the niceties so that Lin Yousu would leave. The doctor stopped by to request some forms be signed. Fu Sichen was about to do it when Wang Youquan insisted that he would do it instead so that Fu Sichen could remain in the room.
After Wang Youquan left the room, Lin Yousuās manager tactfully excused himself as well.
The only moving humans in the room were Fu Sichen and Lin Yousu.
Pei Zhen suddenly thought of the conversation that he had overheard at the resting room and remembered Lin Yousuās scheme. He felt his anger rising again. He glared at Lin Yousu who was trying to get close to Fu Sichen.
Pei Zhen, who was still a cat, widened his eyes and gathered all the energy he had. He jumped up boldly with a whoosh, his extended claws, and charged towards her!
āArghhhhhh!ā
The woman cried out, using her handbag to take a swipe at the already weak Persian cat. The cat fell onto the bed with a loud thud.
A searing pain. Pei Zhen vaguely felt his soul suspended in the air.
