That ainât Luna. No way she is. After all, ten years have passed since then. Itâd be impossible for her to look just like back then.
No matter how pretty she might have been, even she canât stop time. And didnât Karen, who was a little girl back then, actually grow old? Not even the most beautiful girl can fend off the ravages of time.
While persuadinâ myself like that, I looked in the same direction once more, just to find no one there.
ââŠâŠA monster, huh?â
Figures. No way sheâd be here.
I breathed out.
âŠâŠAinât like I made sure of her death. But, I can only believe that she did pass away.
ââNext time Iâm gonna invite Indra to try tacklinâ that dungeon. Thought Iâd never go back there, but I should go make certain, if somethinâ âbout it is bugginâ me.
Indra seems to have it easy to get along with Dungeon Cores, so maybe the Dungeon Core or that boss monster might have listened to us back then (if they still remember that is).
ââI canât feel her presence anymore.
And the Ryokus booted up.
âMr. Sword, are you staying up late?â
âWere you keeping watch?â
âHmm? Well, yeah. I sensed a monster, thatâs why.â
The Ryokus surveyed the vicinity, turninâ around with mechanical sounds.
âGone.â
âShould we chase it?â
ââŠNah, no need to go that far. It didnât attack us or ânythinâ. Probably just came to take a look. âŠIs it alright for me to leave the rest to you guys?â
ââAyessir!ââ
I caressed the Ryokus and then went back to our tent.

{Indra}
In the middle of the night, an enemy attackâŠno, it sounds like it was a scout. I was told that it immediately ran away after some threatening, and that Sword went back to sleep as there was no real danger.
âŠBut, no real danger? Considering that, Sword was a lot more fidgety and tense than usual, constantly scanning for enemies.
ââŠSword, you okay?â
âHmm? ââYeah, no problem. Am I actinâ weird or somethinâ?â
After I nodded, Sword blinked and then smiled.
âWell⊠I donât think weâre in danger, butâŠhow to put itâŠI just donât know whether it was a monster or person, kinda.â
I tilted my head in confusion, ââŠWhat about it? Something like that would cause you to become so wary?â
Isnât that totally strange? Regardless of person or monster, thereâs not much difference between them other than the question whether theyâre harmful or not.
âMmh⊠Guess so.â
âŠI donât get him!
I donât get him, but it sounds like Sword got all alert because he canât tell whether it was a monster or person.
âIâll handle it the next time it shows up,â I offered, but he shook his head.

{Sword}
ââIt appears Iâm waitinâ
For her to visit. For what sheâs gonna tell me.
Even if she shows up in front of me after becominâ an undead, I wonât mind. I just wanna know the reason. No matter what kind of reason itâs gotta be, I wanna hear it outta her mouth.
Her friends havinâ tricked me canât be helped. Ainât like I wouldnât understand if that was the reason for me havinâ a relationship with Luna.
But, LunaâŠwhy did you choose me then? If you cherished your friends, wouldnât it have been better to have chosen them from the get-go? If you didnât regret choosinâ me, you could have stayed with me.
After spendinâ sweet days with me, you suddenly betrayed me, as if becominâ someone else altogether, and tricked me. And then you died without me ever hearinâ the reason for it.
ïŒ
ââŠThatâs when my distrust of women started, didnât it?â
And my hardships with women, too.
ânyway, just what the hellâs up with all the women approachinâ me havinâ been honey traps? Why did they try to poison or drug me?
Or rather, they probably were all after my money either way.
ïŒ
âŠWhen I brooded âbout that, the presence became stronger âgain.
Indra was asleep, and the Ryokus were in the midst of their maintenance.
At such a time, she appeared.
ââŠâŠLuna.â
She didnât answer. Only standinâ there.
âŠâŠNo.
She extended a hand.
Sheâs tellinâ me to take her hand?
ïŒ
âWhere are you going?â I heard from behind.
âŠâŠIndra.
IâŠâŠ
âDonât leave me behind. If thereâs a place you want to go to, Iâll go with you. Even if that place is hell. Weâll duke it out with everyone and take hell over.â
âŠâŠ
âHaha!â I laughed hard.
I see. So sheâs goinâ to go with me even if hellâs the destination, huh? And weâll take hell under our control, eh?
âThat doesnât sound bad,â I said, squeezinâ back Indraâs hand.
Then I looked straight at her⊠the thing that seemed kinda like Luna, but obviously wasnât Luna at all.
âIs hell the place youâre gonna lead me to? Well, you probably wanted to take me there ânyway. Unfortunately, you aloneâŠno, thatâs wrong, I guess your fanboys already went ahead. But, even after waitinâ, I didnât show up, and so you grew tired of waitinâ and came to pick me up, right? âŠSorry to say, I got no plans to go there for a good while longer. See ya.â
I drew my sword with my free hand and unleashed a single flash. The water was cut apart with a chink. The water surface shook violently, before gradually settlinâ down.
