Chapter 113: What I Wanted to Do with my Comrades (Swordâs Point of View)
Once I mentioned that it was âbout time for me to go back, Karen invited me to another place, âAh! âŚJust one more place. I know of another nice store I wanted to visit with you!â
âSorry. Iâve kept Indra waitinâ, so itâd be bad if I donât get back soon.â
âEhâŚ? Ah, I see, wellâŚâ
I used my skill for wardinâ off honey traps I had honed over the years.
âSee you. Make sure to stay healthy, âkay? Iâll tell you just for cautionâs sake, but donât try the impossible. Overestimatinâ yourself is a big no, got it?â
âOki, thanks.â
I raised a hand and tried to leave, just for her to call out to me, âSword! âŚCan we meet again?â
I shook my head, âWe donât have any need to meet again, do we? We both have found comrades and now weâre walkinâ different paths. This time I just wanted to report back to you, someone who partied with me in the past, that I had also found a comrade.â
Karen looked like she was on the verge of cryinâ. But I pretended to not notice, and continued, âIâm no longer the solo adventurer ăThunderclap Whitefangă, but Sword of the party ăAllroundersă. I wanted to tell you that, and I wanted to make a clean cut with my past. Tellinâ you that Iâm not a loner ânymore. Bye. The next time you see me, donât call out to me ânymore. Let us both move on while facinâ the future.â
With those words, I turned around and left.

After several strides, Ryoku suddenly showed up and commented, âMr. Sword, you held back on the alcohol. Iâm sure Mother will praise you, you know?â
âWhoa! Hey, peepinâ isnât a nice thing to do, âkay?â
âI was guarding you!â
âItâs not what you say, but how you say it, eh?â I laughed.
This guyâs learninâ ability is seriously amazinâ!
ďź
âWelcome back. Did everything go well?â Indra had come out to greet me.
âIâm home. And, what should have gone well?â
âYou being ensnared by a honey trap or you drinking too much after sensing some weird malice. Basically, Iâm asking whether youâve come back without any such things occurring.â
âŚâkay, Indraâs overprotective mindset towards me has reached a level similar to her excessive care for the Ryokus.
âFortunately, somethinâ of that level is a breeze for my veteran evasion skillsâŚwait, was it possibly you who sent Ryoku to watch over me?â
âI believe heâd have voluntarily done so even without me saying anything, but since I was worried, I told him to save you when needed.â
Whoa. Just what the hell have I done for a golem to be worried âbout me?
âWell, itâs just I met this woman who was a member of my first party, so I felt somewhat nostalgicâŚor maybe, I just wanted to brag a bit?â
âHaah?â
Walking in front, Indra looked back at me.
âDid you see!? Iâm no loner anymore! That kind of stuff.â
ââŚâŚâŚI see. WellâŚâŚ..sure, why not.â
âOh? Whatâs with that ambiguous phrasinâ?â
Indra crossed her arms behind her head, and continued without mindinâ my comment, âAllâs fine as long as you had fun. HoweverâŚI just wonder whether that woman, who used to be in a party with you long ago, didnât have something she wanted to consult you about.â
Heh, considerinâ how sheâs doinâ everythinâ at her own pace, sheâs surprisingly quick on the uptake âbout such things, isnât she?
ââŚâŚPretty much, yeah.â
âAh, so you played the dense guy despite having realized it!? You sure use that trick quite often, donât you? But look, you gotta be careful since it comes with the danger of you becoming even more popular!â
âI mean, youâd be troubled if Iâm suddenly asked to let someone in our party, no?â I asked and peered at her face, wonderinâ how sheâs goinâ to react.
âUghâŚyouâre right, thatâd be a problem. Or rather, youâve got the choice to turn it down, no?â
Oh? Is this girl thinkinâ that I have a choice here?
âHmm⌠Turninâ em down sure is hard,â I probed to trigger more reactions.
âReally?â
And that was the end. How disappointinâ.
ââŚWhat do you think âbout it?â
âMe? Wouldnât it be fine to let them enter the party if itâs a talented person who would fit us in your eyes?â She calmly responded.
âHuh? Thatâs aâright with you?â
âI donât have a reason to be against it in the first place. If you let a woman, who loves you, join, youâll be the one troubled.â
âŚI guess sheâs got a point there. Itâs just as she says.
âBut, let me give you a warning. If you let a woman, who loves you, into our party and donât change your attitude towards me, that woman might try to kill you and me after becoming half-crazed or completely insane,â she added all of a sudden.
âHuh? Why?â
âBloody Witch is a prime example. We merely slept in the same bed after having a long talk, and that alone was enough for her to pulverize the bed, wasnât it? If she had seen us bathing together, she might have immediately launched fatal, wide-ranged destruction magic.â
âŚâŚEh?
âAh, so bathinâ together is kinda out?â
Iâve been yearninâ to bath together with my comrades, though.
âIf you base it on the other worldâs values, itâs definitely out. Iâve got no clue about this world, though. In the first place, nobles donât bathe all that often, not to mention commoners. Should I try to ask our maids? However, if itâs a no go, theyâll try to murder you in a fit of craziness.â
âOof, I can clearly picture that, so please donât.â
I see, so it was out, huh
âŚâŚHuh?
âDo you hate enterinâ the bath with me?â
âI donât care either way,â answered Indra, obviously not giving much of a damn.
âŚâŚSo she doesnât care, huh? Iâve been yearninâ for it though? Didnât you look like youâve been enjoyinâ it quite a bit, too?
ââŚWhat, and here I thought you enjoyed it as well.â
When I responded with a sulky voice, she became puzzled.
She stared at me, her eyes repeatedly blinkinâ, but then looked as if sheâd grasped somethinâ, sayinâ, âI see. âŚOkay, so thatâs your take on the matter, eh? But, why not. I didnât know that you wanted to enter with me, but apparently you want to invite someone to bath with you since you experience it as ăfună. I see. Now Iâve got it.â
Huh? Why is she agreeinâ there and to what?
âWhy? What do you mean?â
âDonât mind it. Itâs a story youâd hate. You can simply interpret it as me saying, ăLetâs bath together since itâs fună.â
âŚIn other words, perverted stuff, huh? Then itâs better for me to not probe âny further.
âŚâŚâŚNo, wait.
That means her âoutâ in regards to men and women bathinâ together was about doinâ âthat kind of stuffâ? âŚHey, hey, weâve bathed together on many occasions, havenât we? She wasnât afraid or ânythinâ, right?
ââŚDid you possibly dread bathinâ with me?â
She gawped at me, bewildered, âDread it? Why would I just because your flappy, shriveled dic-gueeehhh!â
I strangled her neck with an arm.
âDear Indra, were you sayinâ somethinâ just now?â
âN-N-No-Not at a-all. I-I-I wasnât s-scared, I-I just s-s-sa-said.â
I loosened my hold, causinâ her to cough violently.
âŚSeriously, that girlâs got no delicacy whatsoever!!! And you tellinâ me I should think of someone like that as a woman!?! Like, no way in hell!!
