The broken pipes in the bathroom continuously dripped, adding to the large puddles covering the ground. As she walked towards the living room, Cen Si Miao glanced down at her soaked bedroom slippers slapping wetly on the ground.
Unlocking her phone, she dialled someone.
"Du du du…"
Despite it ringing for a while, nobody picked up. Licking her lips, she looked outside the window into the glaring sunlight. After she took the deep brown curtains in hand, the room darkened with a "shua" sound. The water had already risen to the point that her two feet were soaked in cold water, making Cen Si Miao frown.
Eyes filled with helplessness, she lowered her head. Sitting down on the sofa beside her, she hugged her thighs, fingers still scrolling on her phone.
On the screen was Wu Li Chen's personal page.
The profile picture showed half his face. His double eyelid was wide, and there was a stark contrast between the white and black of his eyes, making them look gentle, like a pair of peach eyes. His biography said that he was a male actor as Qing Yao Studio.
En, the top half of his face was really not bad.
She continued to scroll down.
'Really tired today ah ~~' The picture attached showed his arm supporting his chin as he appeared to doze off.
'Hurry up and compliment my looks! Otherwise I'll be upset ah!' Attached was another photo of the city nightscape.
Cen SI Miao's eyes narrowed and lips thinned. After clearing her throat, her shoulders slumped and she sighed. Just then, the phone rang.
'Husband calling.'
Almost immediately, her eyes reddened and her whole body seemed to weaken like a little white rabbit trapped in a cage. After a slide of her fingers, the phone was placed beside her ear and she sobbed softly.
"Hello?"
The person on the other side seemed annoyed, and she paused for a moment, seemingly unresponsive. Her breath picked up speed before she finally spoke. "Where are you, I'm too useless to do anything right."
The other side was somewhat suspicious. "Miao Miao?"
"En." She sniffled.
Hu Yinli was surprised. Normally she would never be like this, and had always relied on herself to solve her own problems; even when he'd barely been home for a year she'd been fine.
What exactly had happened today, to make her cry like this. Unconsciously, his voice became gentler. "What's wrong?"
The woman nestled in his embrace slowly trailed her fingertips across his chest and his eyes became hooded. Her arms tightened around his waist.
Hu Yinli felt his throat tighten up. As he listened to the phone, he was still being stroked, and his breathing started to get heavier.
Cen Si Miao's crying started getting louder. "I didn't take care of the house well, and the pipes broke. I found someone to fix it but he still hasn't come. Right now the house is filled with water, what should I do?"
"I'm really useless."
She looked up and grabbed a bottle of yoghurt drink from the sidetable. Twisting the cap open, she gulped down several mouthfuls before continuing. "I'm too dumb, not even capable of handling this."
Hu Yinli sighed. "There's no need to cry over this small thing, I'll give a call to the property management, so don't be scared. Everything will be fine, don't cry."
"But…But the floor…"
Cen Si Miao glanced over at the curtains. The original pristine coffee shade had darkened to a dark brown, making it look very dirty. The folds were stuck together, so she reached out to grasp them.
Water flowed down her fingers.
"So what if the floor is soaked, I'll send you some money so you can replace it with whatever you like."
Cen Si Miao blinked before looking at the time. "How long more will you have to work for? Come back and spend some time with me, please?"
Unsurprisingly, the other side hurriedly ended the call.
Getting up from the sofa, she stepped into her slippers and walked towards the bedroom door. Disgusted, she kicked aside the towel hanging at the doorway before picking out some clothes from the closet.
Her makeup was already done. She'd woken up early in the morning to draw her eyebrows and line her eyes, lining it multiple times before finally feeling satisfied. Her hair had been done using the curling iron, leaving her side bangs to frame her chin.
She'd still felt slightly tired, and the time had still been early, so she'd dozed off at the sofa for a while. The moment she'd woken up, her feet had already gotten wet.
Frowning, she'd gone to the electrical panel box and switched off the electricity. She'd needed to go out in a while, so where would she have the time to wait for someone to come fix up the place?
Just as she'd changed her clothes, she'd received a WeChat [1] message.
'Cen jie, the food has already come.'
Cen Si Miao looked down and smiled, thinking that it was really interesting, almost like a movie where everything had a hidden meaning. She didn't type and instead sent a voice message.
"The food's not good, so I won't eat."
In the private dining room, the room was decorated in a more old-fashioned way, with rosewood tables and chairs. The teapot and teacups were all specially picked, and the ashtrays on the table were all copper, engraved with a hand holding a wine cup, giving off a drunken feel.
"The food's not good, so I won't eat."
If you only listen to the tone of the person speaking, you wouldn't find anything wrong with it, but it still made people feel cold. Wu Li Chen squeezed a pack of cigarettes and knocked on the table, annoyed.
Leaning back on the chair, his hand ruffled his hair as he yawned from tiredness. Wu Li Chen looked at Liu Si who was busy typing on the screen of his phone said, "Liu ge, where did you find this sort of person? Sounds like an asexual."
Liu Si liked to dress fashionably. Today, for the sake of keeping a low profile, he'd already toned it down a lot, removing his overly-large earrings and putting in studs. Even his shoes had become more ordinary.
As he looked, Liu Si said, "You're spouting nonsense; such a good person, even if others try their best they still can't get her. Why don’t you look at what other people have with them, you ungrateful brat."
Wu Li Chen frowned, as his tongue moistened his lips, he felt slightly flustered. A pack of cigarettes were on the table and two to three of them rolled out. Fishing one out from the pack, he was about to light it before Liu Si said.
Wu Li Chen stopped moving, and he threw the cigarette aside, stretched his waist and looked sideways towards the door. "Damn."
Hearing this, Liu Si looked up and put his phone down before pouring a glass of water. Wu Li Chen was staring into space, thinking about something.
Gulping down his water, he said, "If you make trouble, you can go back now, I'll pay for your cab fare."
If it wasn't for Cen Si Miao specially requesting for Wu Li Chen, why would he have let him come. The entertainment circle wasn't lacking in good looks or bodies.
There were six to seven artists under Liu Si's management, and even though Wu Li Chen was the most handsome, he hadn't had a breakthrough in the entertainment circle, and wasn't that popular. He was almost at the rock bottom, in fact.
Furthermore, he had a critically ill younger brother who lived in the hospital all year round, which was incredibly expensive. Wu Li Chen's money was completely spent on that. As such, the clothing he wore in private really was nothing much to look at. Even though the style was not bad, the brand was a complete unknown.
The corners of Wu Li Chen's eyes lifted, and he spoke calmly, completely lacking the annoyance from before. "Liu ge, I was just jokingly complaining in front of you, of course I don't have skin that thick, to reap the benefits and act smart at the same time."
The two of them had deliberately staggered the time of Cen Si Miao's visit, to avoid others from spreading any rumours or being found out. Actually, they'd already been waiting there for two hours.
Liu Si first heard the sound of someone knocking on the door, and he glanced over, lips turning up and his face becoming less stern. Hurriedly, he walked over to open the door and was about to greet her before he stood there, shocked.
Cen Si Miao was wearing a loose black shirt, the V neckline showing off her pale complexion. She wore a choker and a black high-waist, figure hugging skirt.
Clad entirely in black, her makeup was also especially beautiful and her lips were bright, making her look very sexy.
This image was very different from the one Liu Si had seen before, giving off an entirely different feel. Before she'd dressed simply, and her makeup had also been very natural.
He still hadn't reacted, so Cen Si Miao smiled widely and asked, "Liu ge?"
Of course, Liu Si didn't dare respond to the address of Liu ge, after all this was a wealthy lady. His mind cleared a little and he rushed to smile. "This one doesn’t dare to be called Liu ge, Xiao Liu is fine. Cen jie can take a seat, it's only been a few days since we last met but you've grown even more beautiful."
Cen Si Miao sat down and watched him pour a glass of water before laughing. Just as she was about to answer him, her phone rang.
Taking it out, she stared.
'Husband calling.'
She switched to silent mode and left her phone on the table. But only after a few words, her screen lit up again. Seeing this, Liu Si said, "If you're busy, you can work first."
Cen Si Miao looked at her phone before turning it over.
Liu Si smiled. From the beginning till then Cen Si Miao hadn't so much as glanced over at Wu Li Chen, could this be regret?
Suddenly, he heard Wu Li Chen speak.
"You came over so early in the morning without eating much, these dishes aren't bad, do you want to try them?"
Cen Si Miao looked over at him. Wu Li Chen sat on his seat, his expression relaxed but focused, yet gentle at the same time. He really did look like his Weibo profile picture [2].
He had a pair of peach eyes.
His nose was tall, yet thin, and his lips were curved.
She raised her eyebrows. "How old are you?"
"25."
Wu Li Chen looked over at Liu Si, who had helped him answer, before curving his lips. "18."
WeChat is basically China whatsapp just more versatile. Because China blocks out foreign apps like Whatsapp, Telegram, Instagram, etc. They use WeChat instead. You can also use it to pay for food and groceries and stuff, sort of like GrabPay or PayPal by using the QR code scanner. WeiBo is basically China facebook, instagram, twitter, everything just crammed into one. The site formatting looks like twitter. I forgot what it’s called, but basically if you have enough followers (easy if you’re an idol, trainee, budding actor, good looking) you can apply for a V which is like getting your account verified. There are different coloured Vs. Personally I only use my WeiBo to follow famous people and their gossip chats. Next update will be up Wednesday. I’ll probably rush out about 10-15 chapters in the days I have left of my hols so that I can slow down for school. I’m in studying now, and this is thankfully not my most important year, but still important for the future, so sorry if I miss a few days.
