The novel Liu Yu’an’s cousin chose is called ‘You Are My Youth And My Warmth.’
Liu Yu’an, the teacher, is a side character instead of the cannon fodder for once.
The protagonist is Zhuo Fan, the transfer student, i.e. his cousin.
Zhuo Fan is from a prominent family, does great in his studies, and is handsome too. He is immediately voted the school prince as soon as he transferred into First Cave Hill Secondary School.
The female protagonist is Bai Yike. Her parents are divorced and neither wanted to care for her. She becomes a delinquent growing up.
They knew each other when they were younger, when the male protagonist’s grandparents’ were still alive and living next to the female protagonist’s family before her parents’ divorce, and the male protagonist would spend time here every summer holiday and came to know her, becoming friends too.
That was when the female protagonist was not only no delinquent but was even cute and playful, very likeable.
When the story begins though, with the male protagonist’s transfer, the childhood friends finally reunite and spend some time together before realising
neither are as they remembered each other.
The male protagonist finds out the delinquent side the female protagonist tried to hide from him, and the female protagonist finds him more and more annoying and irritating intruding on her current lifestyle. Despite all that, there is still a little spark of chemistry between them. They keep having these little fights and fits
Until a series of unfortunate happenstances (read: plot device) meant the male protagonist ends up gravely injured protecting the female protagonist.
The twist comes and goes, and the female protagonist finally comes to terms with her feelings of affection towards him. After thinking for a while, she decides to settle down and study hard, to get into the same university as the male protagonist does.
Of course, it’s hard to pick up studies again, not to mention she still had many of the traits developed while she was essentially abandoned all alone.
Thankfully, the male protagonist is there for her, teaching her himself, and slowly teaching her all those values her parents should have taught her.
The story ends as they both end up in a 985 Institute .
As for the teacher? After 6 years of teaching, he finally has two students end up in a prestigious 985 university——Though none of it was because of his teaching, they were in his class, so he was so invigorated he even cried in public.
Anyway, if there wasn’t the background setting of the girl growing delinquent from neglect, it would have been a normal teen love drama.
Though with that setting, the story also contained elements in the social issues of education, childhood care and neglect, marriage and responsibility, and problems of social stigmatisation and social circles of children and guidance.
Knowing the plot, Liu Yu’an skims through the rest of the script and then also looks over the other ones.
In the end, Liu Yu’an calls up Ren Jianzhang, “Ren-ge, I want ‘You Are My Youth And My Warmth.’
“‘You Are My Youth And My Warmth’?” Ren Jianzhang is somewhere noisy. It’s kind of hard to hear, “the one
 transfer student?”
“Yeah.”
“It’s
” Liu Yu’an can’t hear anything by this point and asks again.
“Can’t hear? I’m
 the noise sure
 call you back?”
“Alright.”
Half an hour later, Ren Jianzhang calls him and tells him the details, “the movie’s director is Wang Yue, that famous one. They’ve already decided on the male lead, so you can only be a supporting character
”
Ren Jianzhang sounds hesitant over there, “from what I can see the only eye-catching supporting character is the teacher, but that’s because he would be a controversial character. You’ll probably be dragged into heated debates online.”
“Not that I’m any stranger to that,” Liu Yu’an replies. He doesn’t really mind it after all.
“
Right. So the part you want is?”
“The teacher,” Liu Yu’an says. The character is noble but flawed, passionate but obstinate. He is the most developed, most ‘real’ character of the bunch. Plus, he once played his part too, and asks, “when’s the audition?”
“Wait a second,” Ren Jianzhang goes to look it up, “ten in the morning, the day after tomorrow.”
“Got it,” Liu Yu’an decides to go, “have Xiao-Zhang call me when he’s here to pick me up then.”
“You sure about this?” Ren Jianzhang asks again. There are other good scripts as well, and Liu Yu’an could be the male protagonist if he goes for those instead.
“I’m sure.”
If Liu Yu’an knew what Ren Jianzhang was thinking, he’d definitely tell him, ‘thanks, but I don’t like being the audience surrogate character.’
That, and also having to work the hardest with the most parts to shoot and also having to follow the team around for all the marketing work and whatever.
He’s already unhappy cutting his sweet time with Shao Yanxi short. He’d rather not make himself any busier. He’s a good family man.
Then the good family man goes to pick up Shao Yanxi off work by car
And ends up followed by paparazzi on the way. Not that it’s his first time being followed since going public with Shao Yanxi. He even tried changing his ride to no avail. At best it’d fool them for a day or two.
Liu Yu’an is annoyed, but he doesn’t do anything else. He’s been a paparazzi cannon fodder before, and knows how hard it is for their line of work.
Meanwhile, at Heng’an, Shao Yanxi is already packed up. When he sees Liu Yu’an, he leaves with him, and they drive back home.
Photos inevitably end up online. Before they’re back home, ‘news’ that Liu Yu’an was picking Shao Yanxi off work and having a lovey-dovey time together is already circulating online.
Liu Yu’an ignores them while Shao Yanxi is browsing them on his phone. He happens across a photo from a rather long while ago of them holding hands and leaving a restaurant, despising the skills of the photographer, “this sure is a bad photo,” managing to somehow make his 1.78m height look like less than 1.6m .
Liu Yu’an gives it a glance and agrees, “the photography’s trash.”
Hearing that makes Shao Yanxi remember once that Liu Yu’an said his skills were also bad and made him look ugly. He decides to lift his phone up right now to take another candid photo.
Looks alright, doesn’t it?
Shao Yanxi then browses through his album until he comes across a photo he took himself of them together that he thinks looks pretty good.
He then switches account to Liu Yu’an’s WeChat——After the alt was busted the other day, they gave each other the other’s password.
He posts it in Liu Yu’an’s name, then switches to his alt’s account to share it.
Then he goes to the comments
 Oh lord.
The comments are all going ‘the light and the filter hahaha’ ‘can’t even see them with the flash off, definitely Xixi’s photos.’
Since his alt was busted, he never saw them call him Mr. Shao or CEO Shao again. They’re all going Xixi or Yanyan, or even An-ge’s cutie or An-ge’s dear baby.
While it’s a bit embarrassing, he can’t help but feel a bit happy inside seeing them talk about him being Liu Yu’an’s baby/cutie. He couldn’t help but give them private red packets as he was so happy. Though, he would be regretting it in the near future.
As they laze about a bit, the sun is setting, and Shao Yanxi tells Liu Yu’an, “I want to eat pasta.”
“Pasta? I’ll have to see if we have the ingredients,” Liu Yu’an says as he walks into the kitchen.
Shao Yanxi leans on the counter as he looks at him leaning into the fridge, and Liu Yu’an then asks after rummaging through the contents a bit, “are you fine with creamy base and shrimps for the pasta?”
“Sure. I’ll come help,” Shao Yanxi walks around the open-air counter and is entering the kitchen.
“I’ll be fine. I’ll ask you when I need help.”
Shao Yanxi ‘oh’s and then goes back to the sofa.
He looks at Liu Yu’an working for a bit, then opens up his laptop to work, but he starts feeling sleepy.
Glancing over at Liu Yu’an’s busy silhouette, Shao Yanxi then decides to take a quick nap, closing the laptop up.
After Liu Yu’an is done, he walks over to see Shao Yanxi sleeping. Though he’s not sleeping deep for sure, as he decides to lean forward and hug Liu Yu’an
’s thigh when he walks over.
“Wake up sleepyhead, go wash your hand, and your face first.”
Shao Yanxi lets him go and then gets up, yawning, looking drowsy.
When he’s done washing up, he comes out of the bathroom to see Liu Yu’an looking at his phone. Suddenly, Liu Yu’an raises his head to look at him with this interesting expression, saying, “oh, so you really like me calling you baby and cutie, I see.”
Shao Yanxi bites his lips “
”
Liu Yu’an looks at him standing all stiff and unmoving, and says, smirking, “c’mere.”
Bold enough to give red packets, and too shy to move afterwards in private. Ho.
When he gets onto WeChat he gets flooded by 99+ personal @s, all saying ‘An-ge, your Xixi baby likes you calling him ‘baby’ and ‘cutie.”
Liu Yu’an then, of course, follows the trail to see Shao Yanxi has given red packets privately to the replies calling him his baby and his cutie. After that, though, they obviously shared their happy moment with a screenshot and then all replies switched their form of address to Shao Yanxi to ‘An-ge’s baby’ and ‘An-ge’s cutie’ in response.
Seriously, it’s a waste that Shao Yanxi is a businessman and not a celebrity; any other celebrity could only dream of the day the Internet would have a field day over whatever trivial thing they did.
See? Shao Yanxi is on Trending now. Again.
Besides making all these Trending topics, Shao Yanxi is also a very good unintentional dog-food manufacturer. Like making a WeChat post in his name, like giving red packets to those people calling him his ‘cutie.’
The most amazing thing about it is that Shao Yanxi didn’t do them intentionally, but they end up even more effective than those staged CP moments. In fact, under the CP discussions their CP’s popularity is way more than the one in number two.
Shao Yanxi, meanwhile, answers by not answering the question, saying, “I’m hungry now; the pasta’s getting cold.”
Then he sits next to Liu Yu’an, and takes both pairs of chopsticks, handing one to Liu Yu’an.
Liu Yu’an “
”
Hoho, he’s going to make him answer it whether he wants to or not tonight.
And, that night, Shao Yanxi has tears all over his face again. Not just that, but also had to admit he liked being called his cutie. And Liu Yu’an also made him call him his hubby. Not just once, but many, many times.
Liu Yu’an is really satisfied, and has made many marks of ownership on the parts of his body that can be covered up by clothes, like his chest and his back.
At the same time, he also has quite a few bite marks on his body, courtesy of Shao Yanxi, an excited, aroused Shao Yanxi.
Though after the fact, when Shao Yanxi sees the marks he left, he feels stuffy and guilty inside, kissing the marks until it’s full of kiss marks instead.
Liu Yu’an really enjoys the gesture, but he still stops him when he looks so saddened, saying, “it doesn’t really hurt, don’t worry.”
Shao Yanxi bites his lips in response. The bite marks look so obvious and deep. He can feel the pain just looking at them. Who does he think he is fooling saying it doesn’t hurt?
Liu Yu’an doesn’t know what he’s thinking though, as he starts kissing Shao Yanxi with a smile again to show he’s fine.
Then he gets off the bed and extends his hand to lift Shao Yanxi to the bathroom, but Shao Yanxi doesn’t take up the offer, and says, “I’ll walk myself.”
He stands up
To feel something flowing out of him. His body seizes up and freezes in place.
Liu Yu’an sees him robotically raise his hand at him to be carried and can’t help but smile. He holds back his chuckle though, knowing how shy he is, as he carries him into the bathroom to be cleaned up.
