It’s his first time modelling, so Liu Yu’an didn’t exactly do a good job in the beginning.
But he is apparently a strong learner. After Jin’an has given him some pointers, he quickly becomes able to act exactly as Jin’an wants, which is way better than Jin’an’s expectations.
Soon enough Jin’an who has had a poker face since entering the room begins to smile.
And his tone goes from flat to ‘good, good good good, great work. Excellent, stay there. Splendid.”
In fact, after the work is done ahead of schedule, he said, “Mr. Liu really is the best model I’ve ever worked with. I am looking forward to working together in the future.”
In the beginning, Jin’an thought it was Liu Yu’an’s honour for him to give him a photoshoot.
In the end, Jin’an felt it was his honour that Liu Yu’an modelled for him.
The attitude shift is quite staggering.
Though, of course, it isn’t anything special that Liu Yu’an performed well. After having been through countless worlds with thousands of years of experience and vision to boot, just attempting to relive some of them as per Jin’an’s instruction is nothing too difficult.
Usually, young models who theoretically look best on camera fail to achieve Jin’an’s requirements because they have insufficient experience and vision in life so they have to rely on imagination or outside sources to emulate what Jin’an wants.
Meanwhile, he has the experience. Naturally, it makes a difference.
After the work, He Chengzhou wanted to invite Liu Yu’an to a meal.
Liu Yu’an did not take up the offer though, “sorry Mr. He, it’s six already, and I have to pick Yanxi off work. Next time I’ll definitely treat Mr. He to a meal.”
“Then it’s a promise. I’ll be waiting.”
Hearing that reminds Liu Yu’an of another world he has been to.
Where his cannon fodder role was a salesman.
Every day, to sell his products, he woke up at six every day and would not be home until ten at night.
Sometimes even with prior arrangements in place when he goes to somebody’s company he’d be told their boss is absent or busy. He’d have to wait for hours at a time.
Occasionally there would even be instances of waiting until sundown and somebody coming to tell him, “oh, apologies, but Mr. ___ has already left.”
Perhaps it’s the obsequious attitude of CEO He, but Ren Jianzhang seems to have been surprised much that he didn’t say anything on their way back.
When they arrive at Shao Yanxi’s company, Ren Jianzhang finally pats Liu Yu’an on the shoulder and says, “An’an, keep it up. I believe in you.”
Liu Yu’an “…” What in the world?
Though Liu Yu’an didn’t exactly care. He’s more curious why Shao Yanxi introduced Jin’an to him, because, from what he could feel at least, they are not currently good enough friends even that Shao Yanxi would do such favours for him.
“Alright, Ren-ge, I’ll be going up. You can go now; oh, do I have any work tomorrow?”
“Not yet,” he replies, “I can get you something if you want.”
“No need then,” Liu Yu’an says in turn, “see you.”
After Ren Jianzhang has left, Liu Yu’an leaves the parking lot and gets some sweets from the confectionery store near the company building. He takes them upstairs.
On the 56 th floor of the Heng’an building, because of the curly-haired girl incident earlier and Liu Yu’an being cordial these days, the people of the secretariat are no longer hostile towards him. They are even on greeting terms with each other now.
So when they see him holding sweets today, after saying hello one of the girls say, “Mr. Liu got some Sweet Sweets?”
Sweet Sweets is the name of the confectionery store.
“Yeah, I like sweets,” Liu Yu’an says before knocking on Shao Yanxi’s office door.
“Come in.”
“Are you still busy?” Liu Yu’an asks.
Though in fact, that manager Xu the girls talked about the other day was transferred back here yesterday. And Shao Yanxi has also promoted two vice executives and three new assistants with the total being six and four now respectively, being in charge of different areas.
So Shao Yanxi is a lot less busy nowadays.
Though Liu Yu’an isn’t sure why Shao Yanxi has deviated this drastically personality-wise, but he nonetheless is pleasantly surprised by the change.
“I’ll be done in a minute.”
“I got some afternoon snacks. Come eat them while they’re fresh.”
Shao Yanxi hesitates before washing his hands and taking a seat at the sofa.
Liu Yu’an pushes the sweets and the milk tea in front of him.
Liu Yu’an doesn’t like sweets himself, and Shao Yanxi realised that these few days. So he doesn’t offer him any. Instead, he starts eating with a ‘thanks.’
When Shao Yanxi is eating, all the cold, distant front fades away as his sole attention is focused on the food in front of him – he reminds Liu Yu’an of a small animal protecting his food bank from intruders.
It is really cute.
And the side effect of that is that it makes one want to eat something as well.
Which, in turn, causes Liu Yu’an, who can’t stand sweets, to take one sweet and put it in his mouth.
Then he doesn’t want to swallow anymore.
It’s definitely not as tasty as Shao Yanxi is making it out to be.
Argh, the sweetness!
Shao Yanxi sees it and knits his brows slightly. He pushes bin towards him and says, “throw it up there.”
“No, thanks.”
While it’s… disgusting, he would rather not waste food.
Shao Yanxi doesn’t say anything.
Liu Yu’an then asks, after recovering, “I wanted to ask… why did you introduce Jin’an to me?”
Shao Yanxi pauses and takes a sip of the milk tea, then says, “I thought you’d need it.”
“Yes, I did need it… But why did you care whether I needed it or not?”
When Liu Yu’an thought Shao Yanxi would say something he really wanted to hear, instead Shao Yanxi says, “you made meals for me and picked me up off work these few days.”
Liu Yu’an “…”
Great, he’s so mad he wants to laugh.
Shao Yanxi doesn’t seem to realise what he just said though.
To him, Jin’an owes him a favour, but the only thing Jin’an is good at is photography, which he doesn’t need.
Meanwhile, he owes Liu Yu’an favours, from the meals to picking him off work, but he is an actor. He can use a photographer’s help but not a businessman’s help.
So, to maximise the use of Jin’an’s owed favour, he has him work with Liu Yu’an.
Others might think several meals of Liu Yu’an doesn’t even compare to the brilliance of Jin’an’s photography, but to Shao Yanxi, all the meals and desserts and… the fact that he doesn’t have to face a dark, unlit house alone off work is something also incomparable to Jin’an’s photography.
So, it’s a good deal to him – in fact, he feels like he hasn’t paid back Liu Yu’an enough.
“Fine. Then I’ll keep making all sorts of meals for you. So the great boss, the great CEO will give me more and more amazing work.”
Liu Yu’an really is speechless.
But then Shao Yanxi very obediently say, “mm.”
Liu Yu’an “…”
Just two years’ age difference between them and there’s already a generational gap.
But, Shao Yanxi is still pretty cute like this.
