Although Ji Heng Yu agreed, he was by no means giving up. He wouldn’t ever give up on the little girl until his head broke and blood was oozing out of his head. So it was merely a matter of using a long line to catch a big fish. [1]
We’ll have plenty of time for that.
He took a deep breath. He stared fixedly at the petite face gradually turning gloomy, and his heart ached, and he felt bitter.
Qin Chu is not only a childhood friend for more than ten years to Mo Mo but also Mo Mo’s first love. Thus, it is inevitable that she can’t forget Qin Chu.
Therefore, if he wants to excavate the corners of such a wall, [2] he isn’t able to do it overnight.
He knew this very well but couldn’t help but be jealous.
After Ji Heng Yu sent Xiang Yi Mo back to Shangcheng, he informed Jing Qian and Lu Wang Chen about this matter by texting them.
Vinegar [3] is such a good thing.
How can he be the only one consuming it?
When Jing Qian received the message, he was on his way to conduct a room check, followed by several medical staff.
The mobile phone in his hand vibrated. Jing Qian felt something and glanced at it. His pupils slightly froze. He suppressed the uncomfortable feeling in his heart and quickly put his phone back because he had already reached the door of the ward.
Meanwhile, Lu Wang Chen finished the paperwork at hand and unlocked his phone to stare at the message sent by Ji Heng Yu for a long time. There were obscure and indistinguishable emotions under his black eyes.
Seeing that the time was approaching another noon… He got up and went to Flora’s Dessert Shop first.
This time, he went to Shangcheng to ask Mo Mo to have lunch alone with him so he probably wouldn’t miss out on her.
And what about the much-missed Xiang Yi Mo? After finishing her tasks and looking at the time, she carried her bag and prepared to go out for lunch.
Who knew that when she came out of the office, she would see a figure she hated in the corridor.
Qi Yan tucked the hair around her ear and smiled warmly.
“Younger Sister Yi Mo, long time no see.”
Xiang Yi Mo looked askance at her with an expressionless face. “It isn’t long, and my mother has only given birth to me. Miss Qi, please don’t just randomly be known as my relatives just to climb the ladder. My Xiang family doesn’t have poor relatives like you either.”
Qi Yan’s face changed slightly, but the change was so fleeting that no one noticed it.
She continued to speak softly, “I didn’t mean that. Younger Sister Yi Mo has misunderstood me. I am slightly older than you by a few years, and you are the little sister Qin Chu watched growing up. That’s why I followed Qin Chu….”
Before the woman could finish her words, she saw how Xiang Yi Mo simply did not want to pay any attention to her and wanted to walk past her and immediately leave.
A touch of imperceptible ruthlessness swept across the bottom of Qi Yan’s eyes.
She hurriedly lifted her feet to follow her. Her gentle voice inexplicably became louder, as if, deep down, she was afraid that no one else would hear her.
“Younger Sister Yi Mo, hold on… Yah.”
With a startled cry, the crashing sound of someone’s body falling to the ground came right after.
Xiang Yi Mo was stunned.
I didn’t even touch this woman again!
Great, this person is trying to scam me by staging an accident to put the blame on me [4] again!
According to the previous experience of being set up every time, Xiang Yi Mo stoically mumbled in her mind, ‘One second, two seconds.’
Sure enough, a man’s angry rebuke sounded behind her within two seconds, “Xiang Yi Mo, what are you doing?!”
Qin Chu walked quickly and worriedly and carefully picked up Qi Yan, who had fallen to the ground, “Yan’er, is everything alright?”
With his help, Qi Yan slowly stood up and snuggled up to him. With a slight frown, she said, “Qin Chu, it’s not true. Don’t misunderstand Younger Sister Yi Mo. It’s not Younger Sister Yi Mo’s fault.”
After saying this, she drew in a sharp breath and tried to hide her hand. However, Qin Chu spotted her actions to conceal her hand.
He took her hand, which she wanted to withdraw, and turned it over without a word to see that the skin of both palms and the forearm had been scraped. There was also a slightly frightening mix of dirty dust and seeping blood on the ground.
From the time Qin Chu shouted her name in anger to the present moment, Xiang Yi Mo stood on the spot thinking about how she should deal with the situation.
Suddenly, the system’s child-like voice sounded in her head.
「The system detected the capture target, Lu Wang Chen, approaching. He is in two hundred metres, one hundred metres, fifty metres away from the host… 」
Xiang Yi Mo let out a sigh of relief.
She thought, ‘A great play is about to happen?’
[1] 放长线(fàngchángxiàn)- This should be referring to the phrase “放长线钓大鱼(fàngchángxiàndiàodàyú)- Using a long line to catch a big fish/a long-term plan for major returns.”
[2] 挖墙脚(wāqiángjiǎo)-The literal translation is “to excavate the corner of the walls”. It means to pull the rug out from under someone/to steal an organisation’s key member or someone’s lover
[3] “Vinegar” refers to “吃醋(chīcù)- Eating vinegar/to feel jealous”.
[4] 碰瓷(pèngcí)-Staged act/to scam somebody by setting up an “accident” in which one appears to have sustained damage or injury caused by the scam victim, then demanding compensation. The variation of these incidents include putting “expensive” porcelain in a place where it is likely to be knocked over by passers-by, and stepping into the path of a slow-moving car. Thus, it sort of relates to its literal translation of the words ‘touching or bumping(碰) porcelain(瓷)’.
