In the center of the room was a white pedestal. On top of it was a round, pearly stone. It was roughly the size of a small basketball and gleamed brightly as it reflected the light shining through the ceiling. Noah was already standing by the pedestal. Next to him, Goat was sitting on the floor, looking languid. Noah in return, noticed them and turned away, his face twisted in a grimace.
âWelcome, Goddess-sama!â Yuichiro received a slight wave from Goat. Goat stood up with a lumbering gesture as Yuichiro approached the center.
âPlease stop calling me that, I get goosebumps.â Yuichiro said while rubbing his arms. Goat let out an eerie laugh, âThen, captain?â
âFrom now on, all military command will be under you, so I think calling you a captain will be appropriate, no?â
Yuichiroâs face twisted as he heard these words spoken to him as if they were true. âDo you mean to say that the command of the army belongs to me?â
âYes, Iâm Noah-cousin samaâs from a low aristocratic family. Iâll be your second-in-command from now on. Itâs a pleasure to meet you, Goddess-sama.â
Goat gave an exalted greeting and gently bowed his head. His face, however, retained a smug smirk. Temeraire muttered in dismay at his greeting, âI donât know how you could call yourself weak. The house of Goat is Jeweldâs oldest and most prestigious noble family.â
ââThatâs only while my father was still alive. Just the other day, he was burned to his bones in the church. Hahaha.â Goat laughed sarcastically on the contrary of his revelation on the state of his family.
Yuichiroâs mouth twitched in response to Goatâs response, and he asked, âWhat do you mean Iâm the captain? Iâve never heard of myself as a captain before.â
âOh⊠Have you heard anything about your other roles as a Goddess-sama from Temeraire?â
While rolling his eyes and staring at Yuichiro, Goat answered Yuichiroâs questions with his own. Yuichiro shifted his gaze to Temeraire, who shuddered slightly.
âIâll explain now.â Temeraire spoke without feeling guilty. Yuichiro thought Temeraire had an unexpectedly surprising personality, despite his quiet appearance.
Temeraire placed up his hands on the round stone placed on the pedestal and then muttered, âIzrael.â It was a low whisper as if he was trying to evoke something. There was a deafening silence, with nothing particular happening.
âHey, can you explain whatâs happening?â
âNot until Izrael arrives.â
âWho exactly is this Izraelââ As soon as Yuichiro was about to ask, he felt something crawling up his neck. Something alive was stroking his neck. His back stiffened, and he turned around, asking, âWho is it?â
âHave you arrived, âBeloved Childâ?â When Yuichiro turned around, he was confronted by an entity so close that his nose was almost touching it. Reptilian eyes peered intently into Yuichiroâs face. It had green scales on its body that glistened in the sunlight. Yuichiroâs hands moved quickly, knocking the snake-like entity off.
âThatâs it!â Yuichiro directed his rage at it. Later, Yuichiro looked down at the entity, which was lying at his feet. It appeared to be a snake upon closer inspection. It was less than a meter long, with green scales covering its slender, undulating body. There were four sharp canines on its mouth, as well as a bright red tongue that forked in the middle.
However, this was no ordinary snake. A fiery red mane and two whiskers protruded from its head and its mouth respectively. Not to mention its short limbs.
Yuichiro unintentionally murmured. The entity belonged to the dragon, which was frequently depicted in oriental paintings in Yuichiroâs world. [Does this mean mythic creatures exist in this world?].
âWhat the hell youâre doing to ?!â Noah, who had been silent, broke the silence with his strained voice.
âItâs okay, Iâm sorry I touched you out of the blue.â
The dragonâs voice unexpectedly came out in a broken tone. Yuichiroâs mouth dropped open as he heard him speak as if he were an old man from the Kansai region of Japan. He was stunned, but the dragon looked up at him with crescent eyes.
âWhatâs your name, boy?â
âYuichiro? Iâm Izrael, the treasure pearl of this country and your guardian beast.â
âYes, and I will protect you.â
âProtect me? How?â Yuichiro snorted, his gaze fixed on the small snake-like dragon. The dragon named Izrael then floated up into the air, bringing its nose closer to Yuichiroâs face.
âHaha, it was a joke.â Izrael loosened his stern face and laughed as he looked at Yuichiro, who was taken aback. He then slithered naturally against Yuichiroâs neck. Yuichiro trembled as he felt lukewarm scales scrape across his neck.
âAh, my beloved child, Iâve been waiting for you.â
âAre you sure Yuichiro-sama is the Goddess?â Temeraire, who had been silent, inquired Izrael.
Izrael replied with a piercing voice, âOf course he is! There can be no one but him!â With his short limbs, he slithered down Yuichiroâs clothes.
Yuichiro gazed down at Izrael and slightly opened his mouth, âAre you saying Iâm really the Goddess?â
âIâm 37 years old man, or rather an old man.â
âNevertheless, itâs you.â
Izrael then coiled his body around Yuichiroâs arms and added, âYou will save this country, and be itâs mother! Mother of the nation!â
Yuichiro was baffled at Izraelâs statement. The part about saving the country was still within the scope of his understanding, but he was bewildered by the latter part of the statement, âmother of the nation??!â
Izrael unraveled from his arms and rolled on the floor, surprised by Yuichiroâs vexing voice. âYes, Mother of this nation,â Izrael said, blinking his round eyes.
âW-wait, Iâll say this again, Iâm 37 years, old man.â
âThen, the word âMotherâ makes no sense at all, does it?â The word âmotherâ was simply inconceivable to Yuichiroâs thoughts. In fact, it was ridiculous.
âThe Mother of the nation is the one who will give birth to the future king of this country. Thatâs what it means, Yuichiro.â
âHey, donât make me explain again and again. Iâm a guy you know.â Yuichiro was getting frustrated with his inability getting across his opinion to Hoshu. Temeraire sighed and interrupted, âYuichiro-sama, it doesnât matter even if youâre a man,â as he noticed Yuichiro becoming increasingly irritated.
âIn your world, it may be different. However, in this world, even men can conceive children.â
Temeraireâs words completely stunned Yuichiro. Temeraire then continued calmly, âThe Goddessâs role is twofold. One is tasked with leading the army and bringing victory to the Rightful King, while the other is tasked with bringing a Goddessâs Son into the world.â
Yuichiro looked at Noah reflexively. Noah was biting his lower lip and staring at the floor, his face pale. At that moment, he understood why Noah did not want Yuichiro to be a goddess.
It was unfair to expect a young child to impregnate a man more than twice his age.
âAre you insane?â Yuichiro swore unconsciously.. âHow can I possibly do that?â
âCanât do it? Why not?â Izraelâs voice was filled with uncontrollable rage as if he didnât understand what Yuichiro was saying.
Yuichiro reached out with one hand and grabbed Izraelâs neck, which was perched on his shoulder. Izrael grunted immediately. Yuichiro spat while staring into the crescent eyes.
Chapter 6 is here! I know it seems weird, but I canât shake off my thought of imagining Izrael as Mushu in Mulan film. Hahaha. Both their heights seem about the same though. Anyway, we all know this will come soon, but another shock for our MC here. Any guess how heâll be able to get pregnant?
